im currently waiting for my ptsd diagnosis so its very loosely based upon my own behaviours, behaviours of my friends who have PTSD, and also research online

∘⁠˚⁠˳⁠°– S/O comforting Harry Warden + HCs –∘⁠˚⁠˳⁠°

(tw: mentions of purging, ed, and hallucinations)

– i doubt harry has gone to a doctors for a health checkup or even a diagnosis, as he hasnt got the best memories from the mental hospital (hes definitely the kind of man to be like "oh ill walk it off" no matter what sickness)

– he most likely wouldve received a diagnosis for PTSD/C-PTSD in the hospital before he escaped

– if he did manage to get a diagnosis, he'd be anxious about the medication and probably look at the side effects and panic hes going to experience those. Harry also probably isn't very good at remembering the little details and would need a reminder for his medicines

– at night he checks the locks on everything five times over. he makes sure that the doors are locked and the windows are too

– he doesn't sleep well and paces when he is awake. up and down the halls, he patrols the entirety of your home thoroughly, no matter how big or small the property is

– Harry can't stand the silence. it drives him up the wall, he can't bear being stuck with his thoughts echoing in his brain

– he really appreciates if you put the tv on for when you both go to bed, or play music quietly the whole night. when he wakes up, he sees the glow of the screen or soft hum of music comforting in the darkness

– hed really like a nightlight of some kind, but hed feel a bit flustered to have it in his home and probably not use it as much as he should

– hes very easily claustrophobic, he can't sleep with a blanket nor can he handle going into a walk-in wardrobe or pantry with the door shut. he leaves every door in your home open (except the house door)

– Harry likes his own company at times, but doesnt like to be fully on his own. he likes to be in the same room, and even when he wants his own company, he likes to know you're at least in the house

– as you adjust to his routines, he grows very attached to you and is always apologetic about his mood swings, episodes of anger or misanthropy, and his general lack of excitement for life

– he doesnt ever mean to lash out at you, and hed never cause you severe physical harm, but he will shout or shove you away from him. sometimes when you try to give him a hug or touch without warning, he slaps your hands away and kicks at you, but after he has come out of any delusion or bad memory, he rushes over to you to comfort you

– “...’m so sorry, my love, please...”

– hes not very good at being reassuring, but he always has a good, decent apology to give you and tries to cheer you up and make everything better

– Harry has a real bad habit of hitting his head and scratching at his scalp and face. You always know when its not been a good few days for him when theres scratches down his face and he's generally unkempt

– he has moments of frantically cleaning himself, but also forgetting to clean. some weeks he will shower and bathe obsessively, and when he dirties his hands, he scrubs til his skin is raw. other weeks, he will lay in bed most of the day, forget to brush his teeth, won't brush his hair and just sleeps or does nothing

– having a continuous routine and you gently guiding him along with everyday things usually helps stop these obsessive and neglectful moments

– with you, he is definitely on a more straight path to recovery, but he occasionally steers off the rails and settles into bad, old habits

– he overeats often and frequently, but typically throws it back up. he hates feeling his stomach full as it reminds him of when hed eat the flesh of dead coworkers to survive

– Harry screams when he wakes up in pure darkness, without you by his side, and will thrash around in distress and cry your name

– even though he isn't very cuddly in bed, he very much likes you to sleep next to him, and he will continuously check your pulse if he wakes up in the night, scared youll be dead like his coworkers/miners in the collapse

– he hates his memory. he can remember everything about the mines and all the horrors of hes seen, but can hardly remember things about you. he struggles to remember your favourite colors, your favourite games and books, and little details. he has a little journal and he writes details about you in it, in hopes he'll stop forgetting. its also why he likes to watch you do things, to try jog his memory of things you've told him about the stuff you like and enjoy

– he doesnt hallucinate very much, but if its quiet, hes sure he can hear his coworkers screaming quietly and hes almost certain he can feel the soft, rotting flesh still on his hands

– certain smells can trigger bad memories and flashbacks, such as raw meat, the smell of BO, the smell of mud or dirt, strong dusty smells and also that sort of iron-y smell that blood has. he is a pescatarian because of this, but hardly eats fish most of the time.

And here's a short drabble... (⁠╥⁠﹏⁠╥⁠)

Harry wakes up, head throbbing, blanket kicked off of the side of the bed, pillows strewn about and any plushies knocked away. He pants and looks around frantically.

You're there, gently stroking his shoulder, sat up in bed and watching over him.

“Hi, honey.” you softly coo, as he stares with frightened, pale blue eyes. “I've got you, okay? You're at home with me, and we're in our room”

He grabs your forearms roughly as he sits up, face right in yours. You can see him looking over every detail of your face, as if trying to grip onto the reality of it just being you two here instead of some twisted memories of his.

He remains silent, which is typical. Harry grasps your face with one clammy hand, as if making sure you're real.

You do your best to stay calm and collected as he panics.

“Harry, it's me, Y/N, okay? We're in bed together and we're safe.”

“I know that” He spits, looking irate. He lets you go and turns away from you, staring at the wall ahead, laying back down on his side.

You know not to take it personally, but it hurts. It's like when a bee accidentally stings you, you know it isn't on purpose, but the pain still remains.

“Do you need a drink, or maybe some food?”

Harry is silent again. He doesn't shift, but his hands pet and stroke the mattress sheet. He's slowly trying to ground himself and take his mind away from the nightmare he experienced.

“I think I'm gonna go grab you a bottle of water” You decide out loud, getting up from the bed and heading to the kitchen.

Harry's eyes follow you as you leave the room and he then sighs when you go. He knew he overreacted.

When you return, he's sat up again, this time leaning on the headboard and he has straightened the duvet and put the pillows back in their original place.

“Got you a drink, love.”

“...'m not blind” Harry hisses, narrowing his eyes and curling his legs up. Almost immediately, his gaze softens and his voice is gentle. “Sorry. I know you're... Just helping me.”

“It's alright, baby.”

You can see his pupils widen and his face soften when you call him that. He accepts the water bottle but places it on the nightstand, not thirsty in that moment.

“Could you...” you turn to look at Harry as he speaks. “...Could you talk to me? About anything. Just anything. I want to hear your voice.”

You smile and sit next to him on the bed.

As you talk for the rest of the evening, he listens to every word, toying with the sleeves of his pyjama shirt. He still doesn't want your touch, but he eventually leans his head on your shoulder, looking up at you and admiring everything about you.

After a while, you start to feel tired and gently suggest that you two try sleep again.

As you two settle back down, Harry giving you more of the blanket, his arm lazily laying over your torso, he speaks quietly.

“Thank you.” He whispers, genuine and delicate. “I don't ever mean to snap at you, my love. You're my whole world.”

“I love you, too. And I know you don't mean to snap, I forgive you.”

He gives you a soft kiss on the lips, and brings you a little closer to him.

“I love you so much.” he murmurs, his eyelids getting heavier and heavier with each second.

“And I do too, Harry” you smile as he starts to settle back down again, slowly breathing in and out, and his hands still rubbing your skin tenderly as he sleeps.

– whether he's working away in his office, or reading on the sofa, he will stop what he's doing when you come in, visibly unhappy with having a bad day

– “come on, sweetheart, come to me” he coos, gesturing you come over, standing from wherever he's sat. He looks you over and analyzes your expressions, the way you talk (or lack of talking), your overall mood, everything.

– Asa kisses your forehead and asks quietly if you want to talk about it with him as he holds your hands in his, rubbing circles with his thumbs

– hes worried about you and even if you ask to be left alone, he still thinks about you and peeps in whatever room you're in every two hours or so

– he offers to get you a nice mug of chai or a glass of something refreshing, and brings biscuits or a light snack alongside it

– Asa takes no offence if you don't want his company for the meantime, and will kiss your cheek before departing to give you space. hes only a text or shout away if you need him, though!!

– “you can always come and talk to me when you're ready, my love” he gently reminds you before giving you space.

– if you'd prefer his immediate attention, though...

– he'll sit with you or have you perch on his desk or lap, and give you his undivided attention

– he does his best to follow your explanations, no matter how incoherent you are

– if you cry, he immediately wraps his arms around you (if youre okay with being cuddled!) and holds you tight

– he gives the side of your head tender kisses and whispers quiet comforts in your ear

– “oh, baby, i know. its okay, ive got you. ive got you, okay? Asas got you.”

– “there we go, honey, let it all out.”

– “its alright, sweetie.”

Bonus!!:

– when youre okay to be in your own company, he will nip to the store and come back with your favourite ice creams or sweet/savoury treats to cheer you up

– Harry wouldnt want you to work alongside him, and he doesn't want you to see the state he gets into every Valentines so he'd try keep you in the house

– hed maybe admire your talents from afar, but you won't hear him utter any praise

Pyramidhead

– definitely doesnt mind that youre a slasher and depending on how difficult, he would probably incorporate your "ideas" with some of his for his next victims

– if a victim is strong or is lashing out, Pyramidhead will put a hand in front of you and move you out of the way before attacking

– he'll kinda let you do your own thing, but will step in for "the thrill of the kill"

– he doesn't care when he gets scarred and mauled from his brutal job, but would get visibly angry if he saw you hurt.

– would want you to stay at home until the scabs and scars are fully healed. And he will know if you've snuck out. the consequences? well... thats up to pyramidhead (⁠.⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠ᴗ⁠ ⁠❛⁠.⁠)

Chromeskull

– without a doubt, you're his sidekick

– even if you were a slasher before, when Chromeskull finds out, he's subtly impressed and will have you work alongside him. no ifs. no ands. no buts.

– hes a bit bossy to you, and dislikes if you get hurt and will immediately try get you out of the way of harm

– Chromeskull analyzes your works and when you do something particularly talented, he'll gently pat your shoulder or, in a rare instance, kiss your cheek

Asa Emory

(this is written where you both know of eachother being slashers!)

– hes the most surprised out of all the slashers when he finds out youre a slasher too. he bombards you with questions. Why... What caused it... Who you usually target and why...

– he keeps his private life and murderer life separate, but you're always more than welcome to discuss about it with him and he'll give you tips and tricks

– if youre any good with traps, he will have you show him some of yours and will admire your craftsmanship and show off his own traps

– if you struggle to make traps, dont worry!! Asa will take care of that for you (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠)⁠♡

– he occasionally worries you might perceive him in a negative light because of his more sinister actions, but tries to push that thought away. after all, you're both slashers, surely you're no hypocrite, right?

Thomas Hewitt

– Thomas is ashamed of who he is. he knows it isnt right, but he knows he has gone too far and cant stop now.

– he's not sure how you even are a slasher or can give yourself that title. hes not critical of you, just genuinely curious

– he would help you hide the corpses, without hesitation

– he would also carry anything too heavy for you to carry

– if youre gone for a while, he will go out to find you. he has definitely interrupted you before, but doesnt do it on purpose. he just misses you (⁠;╥⁠﹏⁠╥⁠)
