I haven't been quiet because I don't believe we need change. I've been quiet because I wanted to keep my heart from break. But the truth is, every day the terror and pain edge closer to the places I call home. It never ends. Two weeks ago, I can't remember what brought me to tears. Last week, it was my Turkish sister in Istanbul in the midst of a coup. Today, I watch a place I consider home under attack. I have walked past that mall on my way to the Olympic Village. I consider Munich another home. I've laughed and cried and fallen in love in that city. I've cheered with her, and kept her in my heart every day. It's my husband's hometown. I know it's people almost as well as I know Spokane or Seattle. We cannot beat hate with more hate. We cannot win by highlighting our differences. I am German, I am American. I am a gypsy child of this world, and I cannot bear this pain in silence any longer. We cannot be silent any longer. (at Olympiapark München)

Busy Monday. Had to run my car to the shop for a flat, @creativelyyoursphotography was kind enough to pick me up on the way to our lunch meeting, and then we toured a still-under-construction space in downtown with gorgeous floors, light, and brick walls. It's got me all fired up to get back to work on our space. This little love bug took an emergency trip to the vet Tuesday for puppy pink eye. I didn't know dogs could get pink eye! He's feeling much better now, and has paid me back for all this loving care by driving me nuts all day. #vscocam

The Dark Depths

You ever feel like you can barely breath? You ever feel like it takes all the energy you have just to get out of bed in the morning, and to not cry. Like the world is an uphill battle?

I’ve been really struggling lately, and I don’t know how to deal with it. On the one hand, I want a magic pill to make it all better. On the other hand, I just want my spouse to notice I’m struggling and help out.

Instead, he’s off skiing with his boss, and we’ll be behind on the house project because he didn’t get done what he said he’d do, so that I can do what I need to do. And I’m pissed. I just want to wash my hands in the bathroom. I can’t decide if it’ll piss him off more if I do his job, or if I pay someone else to do.

2014 ended poorly for me. And I prayed endlessly that 2015 would being me more peace. I may not have accomplished everything I set out to do this year (In looking at you, living room), but I'm happy to say that 2015 was better than the previous year. I did some awesome stuff, like swimming in the beautiful waters of Barbados with these turtles, adopted a puppy, and worked to make our house a home. I didn't do enough yoga, and I'm feeling the pain of that lack of self care. But there is room for improvement in everything, and I look forward to making 2016 amazing. 💙💛🎆🎉🎆🎉
