How did Ronnie’s mother die in this AU? Was it still suicide or was it something like illness?

Ronnie’s mother passed away due to an illness, actually. Making her mother suicidal would change another character aspect that we didn’t want to try to edit. 

Despite the number of changes to Ronnie and Jason’s lives when compared to Veronica and JD, we tried to keep characterization of everyone else in the movie as close to themselves as possible. The difference is Ronnie’s mom got sick and died and her dad moved a lot and wasn’t really emotional support.

We currently aren’t planning on having people applying to be artists.

Because this will be a donation-based project, even if the donations come after the first game, it would be difficult to fairly distribute money for artists.

The current plan is to either commission art or have the other creator of this AU draw sprites for the game.

If we change our minds and figure a way to split money fairly with other contributors, I will post so on this blog and my personal ( @stupidestquestion ) where I will have more information on how things are going with the projects.

what was ronnie like as a kid? was she always rebellious and edgy(TM)?

Ronnie was a pretty quiet and smart kid, who was pretty often in the back of the room at the “quiet child island,” so to speak. The combination of not being an extrovert with the knowledge that she would be moving (which she’d been doing since before she was even in school) and couldn’t keep friends for very long meant that she usually just found company with herself or with teachers.

She slowly stopped getting her schoolwork done to perfect standards after her mother died, just because her father never cared about perfect grades and neither did she, but remained a pretty good student.

She never really spent much time outside, except when it was extra nice and she could read on the front porch. Ronnie was the kind of kid to keep the same three dolls for five years before growing out of them all at once in middle school.- @larvaloverlord

how was jason as a kid?

Jason was a relatively quiet kid compared to his classmates and stayed off to the side for the most part, not finding any of the other kids interesting enough to group up with them for extended periods of time without them approaching him. Betty approached him when they were in elementary school and they became fast friends who were able to sit quietly together until small-town Ohio hit the gender divide age. Jason was entirely willing to humor Betty and play Barbies with her and Betty was willing to race him in the yard before sitting under a tree and reading together. He had a couple other friends that he would play two-on-two soccer or other kid versions of sports.

Despite being a kid who didn’t actively socialize much, he was sporty to some degree, playing kickball and other games that focused on running and the kids who played with him knew it. He was ignored in tag by anyone who couldn’t run quickly and taken on as a challenge by those who could, but picked first for a lot of team sports. He knew nearly everyone in his grade and he had an easy time talking to each person, especially when one-on-one in elementary school.

With his mom incredibly depressed and his dad only home between work trips, he grew up quickly and learned to put personal differences aside if it would help him reach his goals and put that lesson into play in around middle school when Kurt and Ram “adopted” him as their younger classmate. Staying in one home didn’t allow for the main chaotic element in his life that caused his mom to take her life or him to learn to dwell in chaotic energy as… much.

However, with Big Bud Dean being… not exactly a good father, Jason gained a tendency to act out at school whenever his dad was home and for a while after the man left each time in sixth grade and it stayed for a few years. He became known as someone often who would fight you if pushed too far, despite only really getting into three or four fights in all three years. Joining the track team in middle school helped calm the rumors of him being scary down significantly because he had friends again. His “rebellious” phase dried out by sophomore year with the outlet he gained in the ability to take it out on his “friends” when they went too far. Jason gets into more fights with Kurt and Ram than he did in total during his middle school experiences. He did, however, retain tendencies like interests in weapons he gained from his father and plenty of coping mechanisms that were… less than healthy.

Rillie drew a lot of stuff for this AU, she assisted in running the ask blog with Ciaran and did a lot of the asks on there. The AU, however, is mine and Ciaran’s AU. Me being @freezerbrain and Ciaran being @larvaloverlord/@digitalisc.

This means I’m thanking a bunch of artists who drew this AU of their own volition. I’m also so grateful for everyone I’ve commissioned, but the fact that people just... drew stuff for this AU makes me so happy.

@digitalisc - Ciaran’s the other half of this AU as far as plot and ideas go, but still. I love him so much and want to thank him at literally every turn I can for sticking with this AU and me.

@deanesque - Rillie’s just drawn so much for this AU and every time she draws something else, I get really happy. When you and Ciaran made the askblog, I was just so happy about that for weeks. Also Rillie’s fault that we shared this AU at all, so, thanks.

I’ve always headcannoned Ronnie as playing the guitar pretty well? And sometimes when Jason comes over, she might play it a little bit and Jason will sing along?

Ronnie isn’t really musically inclined in the AU expect for being able to play very basic piano, but that’s cute to imagine, honestly.

Jason can sing really well, though, since Christian Slater has a pretty damn nice voice and is totally the kind of nerd to sing to his girlfriend. Only really during the lull between the first funeral and the prom, though. So, maybe upon one occasion during the AU itself does he sing to her.

Ronnie totally snaps a picture of Jason singing when that happens.

fave movies of any of the characters? especially like.. ones from childhood vs. ones now (i don't have any headcanons for this hence asking q's instead of having you rate the accuracy of my headcanons!)

Ronnie watched the Artisocats a lot when she was very young. She also grew up with Sesame Street, but didn’t watch very much TV growing up., so she doesn’t have very many favorite movies or even TV shows.She tries to stay away from the popular movies once she gets older because she’s pretentious. She does, however, really like Beetlejuice or whatever the world’s equivalent to it is.

Jason really liked The Rescuers when he was younger. It came out when he was about 6 years old and used to watch it with Betty Finn. You could also catch young Jason watching a lot of Jim Henson things: Muppets, Fraggles (though not as much, he was getting Too Old™ by the time that show came out), and Sesame Street. He liked Labyrinth because it was reminisce of the things he watched when he was younger due to the Jim Henson puppets, but didn’t share that knowledge with anyone.One of Jason’s actual favorite movies, however, is Little Shop of Horrors, despite how disappointing the theatrical ending was to him. He also enjoys Star Wars and Star Trek, though that’s entirely lowkey and nobody knows either of those things. He tells everyone his favorite movie is James Dean’s Rebel Without a Cause, and stands by the movie being fantastic even when he’s comfortable enough to admit to it not being his favorite movie.

Thank you so much, this kind of stuff is really always so nice to get. I’ve been in a terrible mood recently, but something about adapt getting attention or love, even if it’s just from me lol, always makes me feel a little bit better. It’s really important to me and to Ciaran too.

@digitalisc is the official art blog of Ciaran’s where he sometimes posts Adapt stuff. And of course the artists I’ve commissioned to draw have been amazing. I have a folder on my phone of all the art for Adapt, including the fanart. Contests brought us some great art and, if anyone’s up for it, I might host another one at some point. Maybe holiday themed once it gets closer to Christmas? I don’t know.

Anyways! I got off topic. Thanks for saying you like the AU, it’s really important to me.
