Related to yesterday's topic of 'don't get scammed.' If you're a beginner, go to a library (college - elibrary or in-person, or local, or online app like Hoopla and Libby, or library site like archive.org) and look at the Language Learning Resources that are there.
They are likely to be:
Free (since in a library)
Structured Resources (so you'll have a decent chance of learning the basics in a guided way, they will guide you through grammar and new vocabulary, pronunciation, the writing system, listening, reading, and speaking/writing with their exercises and/or a little creativity on your part).
You can get an idea of what quality resources exist to study the language you're learning, what kind of information you'll need to learn, and the most common ways that information is taught. So if you DO want to go find a resource that costs money, you have an idea of the resources you want and why.
Maybe you want to hire a tutor, because you saw the library textbooks and they can't provide you live practice chatting with another person. Maybe you want to pay for Graded Readers in Pleco app for Chinese, because the graded readers in the library did not have audio included and did not define Every word you found confusing. Maybe you saw a kanji reference book, but it did not include mnemonic stories, and you Know mnemonic stories help you remember information, and there's a book that costs $20 dollars that appears to include mnemonics for every kanji so you're eager to try it. Maybe you really liked Pimsleur in the library, but you ran out of check out time for it, and you know you want to keep working through the Pimsleur materials, so you decide to buy it. Those are all reasonable reasons to spend money on learning resources, that did not pressure you or confuse you as a beginner by trying to prey on you 'not knowing what you needed or how much.' Which a lot of online websites and videos targeted at beginner language learners are trying to do, convince you to spend a lot of money quick on something that may or may not even be useful to you.

Does anyone else's teuida refuse to recognize 네 basically at all? When it's in a sentence it recognizes it just fine but on its own it'll never let me pass to the next term :_)

On topic but sort of off topic to this blog because I didn't want to bring politics onto here, but this genuinely changes the game for me so I feel like it's important to speak on.
So, in case you don't know already, the big beautiful bill passed in the house yesterday. As a low-income, poc, first gen, pre-vet student, this is extremely discouraging news, especially when I think about my future and the fact that realistically, I will probably not be able to go to grad school like I've always wanted to and will never become a doctor. This is a really hard hit for me. I never pictured myself as anything else but a vet and now I have to go on a personal search to find another career for me.
Despite this however, one thing that I feel is important to remember for all of us in a similar boat to mine is that any education is better than none. America preys on the uneducated and getting an education in this day and age is an active form of resistance. Many of us coming from families who will be most affected by this bill were the first ones to graduate highschool, the first to go to college, we cannot squander that opportunity. Yes, things will be hard and yes, many of us will never go to grad school unless things miraculously change for us with the next president, but it is more important now than ever that we do not give up, drop out, or say our bachelor's isn't worth it anymore.
I will not be throwing away the rest of my education. In fact, if my bachelor's is the only form of higher education I can get now, I will channel my anger and grief into working extra hard to absorb every bit of information I can and take as much as possible away from it.

Bill Vicars is great! My mum and I used to watch his lessons together and since then I've taken a queer ASL class taught by a deaf instructor. Having at least a base knowledge of ASL is something I think everyone should have!!
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again but it is absolutely an example of civilizational inadequacy that only deaf people know ASL
“oh we shouldn’t teach children this language, it will only come in handy if they [checks notes] ever have to talk in a situation where it’s noisy or they need to be quiet”

4/30/31 Summer break!
Today was my last day of finals, which means I am officially finished with my first year of uni (yay me)! I know this is a very early headstart to summer break, I mean it's not even May yet, but I wanted to take a moment to remind y'all still studying to continue pushing forward and to reflect on all your hard work this year. You guys deserve the upcoming break!! Personally, I will be focusing on Korean studies along with learning the basics of anatomy and physiology over the summer, though of course I'm also going to spend a lot of time relaxing with my family and working while I'm home. How do you guys plan on spending your summer?
You're almost there!

Gosh I hate grind culture. My little sister just started medical school and all of her orientation leaders are like “you absolutely cannot have a life WHATsoever you WILL have to give up EVERYTHING besides this program say GOODBYE to your hobbies and relationships” and now she’s calling me feeling guilty for running and going to the grocery store and that’s just WRONG! And that is exactly what I was told starting law school as well, and rejecting that mentality was the best thing I ever did but it was so hard not to buy into. Anyway if any of you are in an intense academic program PLEASE take time to sleep and eat and exercise and maintain your relationships and keep up your hobbies! you are not a robot who exists solely to study and I promise that living a life and staying physically and mentally healthy is not going to make you fail
