After a mass shooting, everyone says there should have been more intervention. Many shooters had interventions and said it made them feel worse. Mainstream society doesn't want to admit it doesn't have the tools to treat neurodivergent misanthropes who prematurely discover this world isn't for them. We know, because we dig into the materials, what happened with Lanza. He went to the Yale clinic and during the assessment they asked him what a friend was. He replied, asking in what cultural context they were referring. Lanza was obsessed with culture, this was him actually offering an "in", perhaps a little passive-aggressively. They assumed he was just too autistic to know what the word friend meant. As someone who has been to many therapists this is how stupid many of them are, due to being trapped in their own paradigms and obsessed with normalisation. We need to do better than this. I really hope that I can. But I suspect the mainstream world has zero interest in anything more.
