No matter the universe, trying to keep a party of adventurers from diving into surefire chaos is probably the most challenging and exhausting thing of all--especially when there's a sticky-fingered, hot-headed rogue hanging around.

This was written for the Wondrous Tails of FFXIV event, specifically with the prompt 'D&D AU' and featuring my full cast of FFXIV OCs that you can learn more about here: @heroesofhydaelyn

"I would like to try and sneak past the guard."

With narrowed eyes and confusion spreading across his expression, Daniel peers ever harder on the player across the table from where he sits behind the miniature fortress of his dungeon master screen. "You do realize," he says slowly, "that the guard is staring right at your party. You can't sneak past someone who is already fully aware of your presence."

The rogue—or rather, the rogue's player Kai, makes a noise of annoyance.

"Can't we just like... knock him out or something?" the au ra turns to look at the rest of the party at the table whom all give him varying looks of agreement. Khalja is the first to say something in reply, crossing his arms over his chest and staring down at the messy map of graph paper and tokens.

"Not unless you plan on dragging his body with us," he says, limbal rings glowing a soft emerald in the dim light of the room. "And trying to do so might start up another lengthy fight—one we don't have the resources to deal with." He peers towards the only person in their adventuring party with any sense of caution or forethought: Rakuyo, Kai's older brother as well as the party's cleric.

Despite being the oldest and perhaps the most physically large of players at the table, Rakuyo is as softspoken and gentle as a leaf swaying in a spring breeze. He catches Khalja's gaze for only a moment before offering a gentle shrug of his shoulders.

"I have a couple spell slots left if we need them," he says carefully, "but I agree with Khalja on this one."

A fourth voice rises from the other side of the table, pulling all sets of eyes toward him as party sorcerer and player R'avi offers a wave of his hand. "Could we possibly make this decision a little faster? I've been itching to get to the other side of this castle since the start of last session."

Night just doesn’t happen anymore. It’s been nearly a month and the sky is bright no matter the hour of the day, strange monsters have appeared everywhere and you’ve heard about entire continents being swallowed by a huge wave of light. What do you do?

If your muse had been attacked by a sin eater and knew they’d eventually turn into one themself, what would they do?

After a century of perpetual daylight, the night is back. What’s your muse’s first thought?

Pre-Endwalker

How does your muse feel about the current state of the Empire?

On the other side of the Ghimlyt Dark, Werlyt is fighting for its freedom. Has your muse heard about Gaius Baelsar’s involvement? What do they think or would think about it?

You’ve heard that tempered people can now be cured…by flying pigs. Any thought on that? Any hope?

The remaining moon is changing color. Since Calamity followed last time it happened, is your muse worried? If yes, do they take concrete steps to prepare “just in case”?

City-state leaders all over Eorzea are reaching out to beast tribes to make amend and make peace with them. Is your muse in favor?

There’s been rumors about ominous towers all over the world, or maybe your muse saw them with their own eyes. What’s their theory about how they came into existence? Do they worry about them?

Another battle at Carteneau, this time side-to-side with the beast tribes against Garleans and primals. Did you muse hear about it? What’s their opinion on the subject?

I know we've all got Endwalkers brainrot but who does Samilen want tied up under his Starlight tree ;3c

God that is a good question, because it's hard to separate the characters that I the player love from the characters that Samilen loves (especially since he is the first and foremost main character I play). Assuming he has all the experiences and development up to and including the events of Endwalker, I could see a few people he'd love to see as a gift under the tree ;3c

X'rhun, because my wife has done a horrible (amazing) job at making me love that godsdamned catman, and red magic is one of the things Samilen canonically picks up in his time as a warrior of light. Me and Samilen both have a weakness for DILFS

Emet-Selch is quite an oddity of an attraction for a soft-spoken, gentle man like Samilen--and admittedly Endwalker has solidified a lot of these relationships--but this is one of those 'Samilen himself may not realize he has the hots at first' situations that I haven't developed a lot.

Also in general and especially after Endwalker he would just. Straight up Die(tm), like combust on the spot, if he found Estinien under that tree. There's some feelings going on here between them and I absolutely KNOW it, but they game from left field halfway through the expansion and I'm left to try and figure out what the hell to do with these feelings of his.

The fact that the Sharlyan Forum outfit is only available as a temporary guise for a sidequest is ILLEGAL if only because Samilen @samilenjawantal) looks fantastic in it.

If you asked someone to describe a man named Samilen Jawantal, the answer would vary greatly depending on a couple of things. An older member of the Twin Adders might recall an exuberant up-and-coming archer, while a local merchant would recall the name being the signature on the delivery of new weapons and herbs. Still, if you asked most Gridanian folk, their answer would invariably be ‘a keeper who keeps to himself and never speaks’. 

All of these things are correct; while Samilen was at one point of his life a very accomplished archer among the White Wolves, the Great Calamity changed him, leaving the once-high-spirited man timid and mute, being friendly to few and familiar to fewer. But while he was left mute and intensely introverted, Samilen is currently an extremely accomplished botanist and carpenter. If you take the time to be patient with this trauma and learn a little sign language, you’d find a faithful, loving friend in him.

Samilen is the eldest child of a multi-parent polyamorous family! To be specific, he has two mothers (Hyur Highlander Lenphi and Miqo'te Keeper Sami) and one father (Miqo'te Seeker N'obuli). His mother's were already a couple when they moved from Gridania to Limsa Lominsa, where they met N'obuli and eventually have their three children.

Due to this non-traditional family, Samilen's name is also somewhat unique. While it follows the core tradition for Keepers to name their sons after their mothers, Samilen was a combination of both his mothers' names instead of simply after the one who gave birth to him (Sami). His sisters, taking far more of their father's Seeker blood, follow Seeker naming traditions instead.

Samilen, while he takes greatly after his Keeper birth mother, is technically half Seeker by blood. This does pose several interesting points for him, such as being more predisposed to going into heat and having a small knot when aroused. It's unknown if this is due to his father N'obuli having a strong tie to the nunhship of his birth tribe or not, mostly because Samilen has never once thought to ask him (and he's far too embarrassed to do so as an adult).

Samilen's favorite colors are baby blue and pink, though his favorite color to wear is either black or white. They are easy enough to match, and such clothes are often the cheapest to buy--though you'll rarely ever see him out of his outfits for the carpenters' or botanists' guild anyway.

Unless work requires otherwise, Samilen is largely active from afternoon into the very late evening. Not only is this due to the fact that it aligns best with his Keeper of the Moon natural sleep schedule, but it also helps him keep away from the largest crowds when he has to visit the marketplace or other popular locale within Gridania.

Despite his tendency towards self-isolation, one of Samilen's life goals is to be a husband, and a really good one at that. Though he hasn't given much thought into being a father, he certainly wants to settle down with someone eventually, and often likes to humor himself with the knowledge that he and his partner could, with his botany and carpentry knowledge, just settle out in the Black Shroud in a little cottage all to themselves with not a soul to bother them. One could say that he's quite romanticized the idea, especially since the goal requires him to actually socialize with other people in the first place.

It's baby steps with Samilen, but steps all the same.

Valentione’s Day Date

Relationship: Samilen Jawantal (OC)/Silvairre

Summary: In which Silvairre asks Samilen out on a date for the very appropriate holiday, and we learn they look very good in dapper suits.

Note: This was written as a Valentine’s day gift for me, and I couldn’t be ever more grateful for it ;w; nothing quite hits me in the feels like that Soft Samivairre Content™

Samilen grabbed Silvairre’s hand and pulled him to the edge of the crowd near the Ampitheater, various couples and friends just eager for chocolate spilling out in a massive line. Silvairre allowed himself to be pulled along, not even grumbling, how could he when Samilen’s face lit up just looking at all the decorations.

He gave the Carpenter’s hand a gentle squeeze and was a bit amused that Samilen jumped and bushed out his tail like he’d forgotten he’d dragged Silvairre with him. Maybe he’d thought Silvairre would let go and just let him run ahead?

“Do you want to go?” Silvairre asked with a small nod to the line. Samilen stared at him, face blank.

“With me.”

No response.

“Samilen?”

SIlvairre was beginning to get worried, his boyfriend was just staring at him, “Samilen?”

Finally, Samilen pulled his hand from SIlvairre’s to sign quickly, “you want to go? With me?”

Silvairre smiled and shook his head, “yes, Samilen.” The beam and joyful wiggle of his boyfriend’s ears- which he did not think was cute- his hand almost rising to his mouth at the mere thought of denying he thought it was cute and he could hear Leih scolding him in the back of his mind. Ah, why not?

“You’re adorable.”
