The Labyrinth was unusually quiet today and it unsettled Hoggle. He liked his peace and quiet, there was no doubt about it, but this sort of quiet wasn’t peaceful, it was eerie. Not a living creature in plain sight, just endless stretches of earth and dust and some green moss climbing up old stoney walls with cracks in them, and every now and again, a gust of wind would breeze on by, echoing throughout Labyrinth. 

It made Hoggle shudder. 

As he moved onward, he could hear the faint bouncing of a ball. Puzzled, he decided to investigate. “Hello? Is anybody there?”

One thing I don’t like about Laby.rinth fandom is all the Jareth x Sarah shipping and the sexualization of Sarah. It just perturbs me.

“Show’s what you know.” The dwarf turned from the other as he sprayed yet another fairy and it promptly fell to the ground with a high pitched yelp. “Forty-nine...” He had been keeping count, just to make it fun, because it was like a game to see how many he could get in a day. His highest count was over a hundred and it was his bragging right.

But the biggest reason why he did this was to keep Jareth off his back. Each resident of the Labyrinth had a duty and Hoggle’s was to spray the little fairies that flew around the outside gates. Sometimes Jareth would have him do other duties, ones he often hated, such as misleading whoever the latest newcomer was, and bringing them back to the start of the Labyrinth. Why? So he could turn whatever kid he kidnapped that day into a goblin.

As if he needed anymore. He already had dozens of the annoying little creatures, why he wanted a growing army was beyond Hoggle, but he just shut up and did his job as he always did. One of these days however, he’d be someone more than just a fairy sprayer.
