Since today is Valentine's Day, I think it's a good opportunity to ramble about the different shipnames for Briar's pairings! ♡

RoseGoldShipping (Briar x Rose): Surprisingly, it's not because of the rose gold color. Instead, this shipname is because of a couple of elements I associate with them. On one hand, the rose is self-explanatory for Rose, but also Briar's name is also associated to roses! On the other hand, I associate Briar with gold most of all, from the riches, to its use... But also, and talking about rose gold, this is an alloy made of gold and copper (yes, like Copperajah), haha. I just think this shipname conveys their characters very well and it's just perfect. ♡

BelladonnaShipping (Briar x Oleana): For this shipname, I took inspiration from their names. Oleander (from where Oleana's name comes from) is an extremely toxic plant, and a single leaf may kill an adult. Briar's last name, Hollie, comes from the Holly plant (like the ones used for Christmas decorations); the holly berries (which are red, like Briar) are poisonous. Taking this into consideration, Briar and Oleana's shipname is Belladonna, inspired by a plant that is also extremely toxic and unsafe for people. These two women being named after poisonous plants is also on point, considering how they act as antagonistic forces in the story, they're beautiful and pose the greatest danger. And, lastly, the name belladonna itself means 'beautiful lady', which is just fitting for elegant people like them.

PrimroseShipping (Briar x Rose x Oleana): This name follows the pattern of Rose's shipnames containing his name somewhere in it. The reason for this name has nothing to do with Pokémon; in reality, 'Primrose' is the name of an important character in an original story of mine (unrelated to any fandom, in its own universe). This character is very dear to me so I named this ship in her honor, like a fun nod. When I played sword and shield for the first time, I remember joking because Rose's character, story and motif were incredibly similar to that one character of mine, so it is a fun reference to name a ship for him with the same name as hers.

This ship is the 'endgame' ship in Briar's lore, and I call them PrimroseShipping (following the trend of Rose's ships always having 'rose' somewhere in the name, like rosegold or deadlyrose). When talking about Briar and Rose as a duo, I call them RoseGoldShipping (or rosegold for short); similarly, when talking about Briar and Oleana, I call them BelladonnaShipping (or Belladonna for short). But when talking about the three of them together, I use PrimroseShipping (or just primrose)!

As always, I'm incredibly grateful for all the support on my ships. They're a great source of joy and happiness for me and I'm glad to be able to share them with others. And also, seeing their designs together always makes me happy, it's like they were meant to be together. ♡

The girls are gossiping 🫣❤️ One thing I particularly love about Briar and Oleana is how their designs contrast each other in some way. Oleana wears lighter colors (white lab coat), while Briar's palette tends to have darker colors. Oleana's earrings are big, while Briar's are small. And also, Oleana's coat does a sharp shape on the chest area, while Briar's fur coat looks softer. Their personalities also contrast each other, where Oleana is usually calm and collected, while Briar is often loud and annoying; and when they're under pressure, Oleana is intense and quick to react to her emotions, while Briar becomes absolutely serious and even heartless.

This drawing also made me notice that their hairstyles are slightly contrasting also-- Oleana's hair is depicted more straight and with sharp edges, while Briar's hair is voluminous and with softer curves.

I had the opportunity to commission the talented @/greg_senpai on IG for this league card art of Briar! I'm so happy with this artwork, it conveys Briar's personality and energy perfectly.

Some fun facts:

1. Her League Number ('321') can be read in Japanese as goroawase for 殺意 ('satsui'), meaning: 'murderous intent; intent to kill'. It also looks like a countdown to impending disaster. But not only that, but it reflects Briar's personality as well— 321 looks like a seemingly innocent number, as if she had chosen it without thinking or caring much, but then you realize she had hidden intentions all this time, hiding in plain sight...

2. Also, Briar is not an official member of the League. However, Chairman Rose often invites her to participate as a guest at the Opening Ceremony and Grand Championship. These events are highly demanded and tickets sell out fast, because not only the fans of the Galar League eagerly wait to buy tickets for these events (and let's not forget how dedicated people are to Pokémon Battles in Galar...), but Briar's own loyal fanbase also awaits to buy tickets to see their favorite idol.

The Chairman and the Supernova are often seen together after a long day of work in Hammerlocke City. Lately, they have been closer than ever, and people can't help but notice the way they look at each other.

This drawing takes place shortly after Briar moves to Hammerlocke City. Since Briar's lab connects directly with the Power Plant, Rose and Briar often see each other and go out together for dinner in the afternoon.

... At this point, they have both realized they have feelings for the other, but haven't admitted it out loud yet. Still, their actions speak louder than their words, because despite being too oblivious to figure it out, others have noticed the way they look at other, the way they care for the other.

However, because Rose lives in Wyndon, they can't see each other as frequently as before, but whenever Rose has to travel to Hammerlocke to oversee something about the Eternatus Project, he makes sure to invite his Lead Scientist out for dinner.

In some way, Eternatus brought them together.

During the winter, Rose realized that Briar doesn't handle the cold very well; and even if she's all covered up, she can't help but tremble, so he offers her his scarf. He also understood why Briar has a certain affinity to fire-types, and seeing this side of her is very cute.

Happy Halloween! ✨🔮

I commissioned this artwork of Briar, Rose and Bede for Halloween from @/fusenryo2 on skeb!

This year, they're dressing up as witches. Bede's outfit is from PokeMas, and Rose and Briar's outfits were designed by @/shinjistarart!

Briar's outfit is based on shiny Delphox and Rose's outfit is based on Aegislash! I think they all look pretty good and I love the color palette so much.

Im actually a huge fan of witches so getting this commission was a dream come true for me. I will definitely commission more of them in more occasions, they're not limited to Halloween! ✨🔮

Also, I'm not sure if I've mentioned it in here but Bede and Briar's dynamic is certainly interesting, to say the least. Long story short: Briar is actually Bede's legal guardian. Hopefully I'll talk more about them soon!

I'm seriously SO humbled at the amount of love and support Briar has received today for her birthday.

This is just a self-indulgent thing and she's my personal hobby, and having so many people indulging me is such a special feeling for me.

I'm so happy that you guys took a moment of your days to celebrate with me. It means a lot to me because this is something silly and self-indulgent since she's just an oc but the fact that you're taking time to say those nice things is so special to me! As you may or may not know, I've been creating ocs for a long time but Briar is the first oc I've decided to share with other people like this, and I'm so flattered that you guys interact with me, whether it's reading my posts, interacting with the art i get, drawing things yourself or making our ocs interact. I'm a very shy person but it's such a special feeling that you guys like her so much! Thank you so much again for being so nice to me and letting me indulge in this little hobby ♡

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to commission the talented @/wawatiku for a birthday piece featuring Briar, Victini and Nickit!

This piece is seriously gorgeous in every way. I love the elegant atmosphere of it all, the castle, the roses surrounding it all and the night sky behind her. Of course, Briar herself looks absolutely beautiful and so do her Pokémon! ♡

I like to think this picture is seen from Rose's POV during a date night!
