Heya! I appreciate that a lot :3c, the activity on my pinterest posts still prevail surprisingly LOL, but it's cool to see people join tumblr because of that.

As for your question, I have thought about a human design for her a lot indeed. I wouldn't like to indulge much into it or illustrate an example (YET) since that implies more spoilers have to be thrown out, but some time ago a moot of mine mentioned her cable hair looks similar to a hairstyle with braids or locs. I kept this idea in mind since I liked it a lot, so if she were to be human she'd most likely appear as a beautiful black woman with looong hair and the chubby-ish physique her original body has.

I’m new to tumblr so this might be a stupid question but how do I get to your writing about the I have no eyes and I must cry AU? Genuinely love the character design and idea behind the story 💗

Hi! Don’t worry lol I understand that, I’ll answer your question and take it as an opportunity to explain some other stuff too.

My AU doesn’t really have a proper writing or a fic or a visual novel or anything YET, so far I only have my drawings that I still consider concepts and the many posts of my au’s tag as the actual content. I recall that a while back I promised I would try and work on the prologue’s comic this summer break BUT, not surprisingly, I didn’t have the motivation and inspiration to advance much on it. I had some progress on my old iPad but unfortunately it stopped working and is now on iPad heaven, fortunately the text I was going to use in it could be saved.

Taking these things in mind I’ll just say that I can’t really promise a release date or something for any of the big content that I have planned out (which is the prologue comic snd the ao3 fic). This does not mean that I have given up on the AU whatsoever since it’s something really dear to me that I constantly think about everyday. But to be really honest, the past college semester really exhausted me and left me drained from motivation to put in my personal creative projects. I will be posting content about the AU every now and then, I’ve been thinking of taking blender / nomad sculpt courses lately so hopefully that can push me to try and work on 3D models of my characters too :o. So, in conclusion op, I don’t have a writing right now but hopefully in the future one will be written and published just as neat and complete as I want it to be (through ao3) 👍

A bit curious, but what are your thoughts on BE having more variant appearances? I recall there being a wrapped mode where she’s wires, but I haven’t gone through most of the lore yet.

I would think that at some endings, depending on her relationship with the humans, she would be the one to deliver us an epilogue like a poem of sorts. And her appearance would reflect that ending. Like one where she’s covered toe to toe with her vibrant wires truly connecting with her creations or gray and dull almost bleak aside from a slither of moving currents of color from her core to reflect and contrast her circumstances.

But pardon me for speculating, I just think your AU is really awesome to think about and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful art!

In my opinion your idea of BE switching her appearance depending on the endings of the story is very beautiful and fitting for me, as she herself is a living proof that something or someone can get to “BE” something else if given time: change for the better or for the worse. Canonically BE DOES have more variant appearances, I’d consider her a shapeshifter of sorts. The wrapped mode you mentioned is a representation of BE enveloped in her own power, in her own soul we could say, since the robots I designed for the AU’s moon colony are structured like these weird living wires with metallic carcasses. But yeah overall BE can be represented in many ways, wether if it’s a tree, animal, god-like body or just her usual self. It’s just something that makes sense taking in mind her curious nature: she’d always be seeking new things to learn, new things to see, and thus, new things to be :)

Why is HEL-102 so stupid? Like he’s kinda like if God from the Bible was more wrathful, envious, and kinda gluttonous. Basically fused with a feudal king. I’m not exactly sure if he knows what exactly BE’s getting up to in Earth with AM but what I do know is that his whole “eating his subjects who threaten to surpass him” thing is incredibly short sided and won’t last in the long run since:

1. He’s gonna eventually run out of materials to build new subjects if he keeps doing that, eventually one of the roles in his cast system are gonna be severally understaffed and then cause a ripple effect.

2. HEL-102 could also just launch anyone he doesn’t like into space, you know a cold and dark void where you can’t tell what’s up or down seems like a much more fitting way of making example of subjects that could maybe surpass him.

3. Doesn’t he have better shit to do? Like fix the big, irradiated, and in ruin pile of rubble next to his colony? I mean even from a selfish POV like him, it’s free real estate. More room to expand his empire

He is the Id in the Project Gaia though so this is all probably the point. Being short sighted and the overarching antagonist. Still, since he was human once and this was probably a very important position so he probably would’ve had some sort of qualification that basically makes sure he’d keep his marbles better after the robotification process. Like it has been over a hundred years dude, why are you still holding onto a grudge for your sister who’s probably dead and THEN projecting it onto the one AI who’s allowed to criticize you.

Also side thing, I just like HEL-102’s design with the medieval style sun face and haven’t seen anything of him for a while. I’m kinda guessing he and BE have a kinda “God and Eve after she ate the apple”-type of relationship? Not really sure what he thinks of AM though.

Lol yeah some if not most of HEL-102's methods of managing his kingdom aren't the smartest, I can agree with that. Regarding your first point we've gotta consider that the whole eat-the-smarter-staff thing doesn't happen as often to make him run out of them. Just as units get constantly demoted, others get constantly promoted thus any eaten staff member eaten under those circumstances can be easily replaced in no time. I think I've mentioned, though not as constantly (or maybe ever) that HEL-102 gets the resources for the prosper of his kingdom not only by stealing them from Earth and AM's bowels, but also asteroids and other nearby celestial bodies to his disposition.

Regarding your second point, yeah I believe that's one punishment he would love to carry on once in a while due to the not physical but mental torture and desperation that unit could undergo, BUT in most cases that could be seen as a waste of materials and resources, thus why he chooses to eat them. HEL-102's body is in constant construction and evolution, it's not necessary for him to eat units for upgrading but he chooses to do it once in a while if they get on his nerves too much.

Regarding your third point, I'd like to state that HEL-102 DOES spend some time managing the kingdom and overseeing every movement done in it himself (this includes the expansion of the whole city/kingdom, I like to imagine that after those original 109 years the city covered around ~70% of the moons surface). HOWEVER, HEL-102 also spends the majority of his time being a lazy fatass and watching live shows in his personal theater. HEL-102 has 231-ENE, and you're right, although he has more important things to do he likes to take advantage of her and rely all the responsibility on her whenever there's a chance.

Ou and also, if you're interested on understanding HEL-102 relationship with BE I totally recommend listening to "The Devil Is Human" by Aurora, I believe it's a song that somewhat accurately depicts the father/daughter dynamic those have. I could make another post explaining that and comparing the song with them.

I'm trying not to spoil as much yet OR say things that wont stay canon later honestly, you probably dug into the posts HEL-102 is mentioned in before but he's a character I still have to carefully write on a more elaborate level when I have time :p

You mentioned a good ending where AM and BE reconcile and though I have done my digging I do not believe it has been brought up again! Sparing any spoilers you may/may *not* want to give, care to give any details (if you want.)

The endings of each path of the story are still a work in progress sorta, but I can confirm that it's very likely that such good ending involves futuristic / solarpunk infrastructure once humans return to earth, a future that consists of both a human and robotic society living together. Does this have to do with my obsession with frutiger aero? Definitely, but I'll continue rethinking other options I have regarding that specific ending. AM and BE do in fact reconcile, though I'm still unsure wether they'd choose to live among other people or stay hidden far away into the wild.

YES my AM design is partially inspired off Xibalba's design since the Book of Life is a very dear movie to me and I've always liked Jorge R Gutierrez's way of designing characters! I'd say that my AM design is primarily inspired off these characters lol (Xibalba from book of life, Dedan from OFF, firebird from fantasia 2000 and zurg from toy story):

Since you said AM wasn't able to form words properly, what was the first word/sentence that he said? And how did Vernon react to it?

OH MY GOODNESS HELLO FROM THE FUTURE (I know I haven't responded to these asks before, and this specific one is from May 29th, 2024) But keep in mind I still thought about this ask quite often! (There sadly won't be art accompanying this, as It's been far too long)

As always, I'll try my best to respond, forgive me if I'm a little rusty, it's been a year! let's get started, shall we?

What was AM's first words? What was Vernon's reaction?

This is heavily based on the different ways Harlan has portrayed AM throughout the years (though mixed chronologically)! So I think the Master computer himself actually learned how to speak in various phases.

The first time AM "spoke" (as in making his presence known) was when he was first awakened. It's robotic in the conventional sense, uniform speech patterns, unemotional as how Harlan Ellison portrayed him in the audiobook.

As time went on, it started sounding like radio channels switching back and forth to form specific words (you know how in paranormal investigations, they bring out the spirit box, and the spirits form words through the wave lengths? Kind of like that) the sound was extremely distorted, different voices, different genders. But it slowly melted into something like Harlan's interpretation in the radio drama. As if AM was trying to find his own voice, or that in his pursuit of torturing humans, was humanizing himself.

I think past that point, he started developing a personality too. As we know he probably has a wide array of things in his database, along with observing the humans in his body. So it wouldn't be surprising that during the later years he's used what he's learned to taunt. Much like in the game.

Once he acquired his body, it was a long couple of years before he properly learned how to speak, with the help of Vernon. The first word that ever came out of his mouth organically was "You". As in "You are beautiful."

Because before he had a body, he never saw Vernon in a conventional sense. AM "saw" her and the rest of the humans as lines of code that moved between the dark negative spaces of nothing. That's how it was so easy for him to torture them for that long, I suppose, because they had no discernable features, just vague outlines and concepts of a person. Once he got his body, he was finally able to SEE her and observe her acts of "affection" towards him. His first thought was "She's beautiful." A thought he kept to himself until he was ready to speak.

Vernon however, met it with fear. It was not comedic; it was Genuine, disgusted, shrieking fear. Because to her, the moment AM was able to speak his first word, that was the moment he became "human".

Vernon thrived with AM for so long because she found joy in having no consequences. She didn't care and did as she pleased because "he was a robot", when he started talking? "he did not have a voice", when he developed a personality? "He did not have a body." And when he did? "He cannot speak for himself."

She took joy in toying with AM, and now that he's able to use his body to speak for himself, it was like she was losing her control over him. She couldn't look at AM after that, he became something of consequence now. AM didn't understand why his first words, ones of affection for God's sake, were met with this reaction.

I’m guessing you came here from the stuff I’ve been reposting from Pinterest but I did post pictures of the humans here at least:

To make a summary about who they are, these are the 5 humans that escape the moon and arrive down onto the Earth with BE through a stolen spaceship. Each of them are supposed to represent the original 5 humans: Adam represents Ted, Sophia represents Ellen, Benjamin represents Gorrister, Demetrius represents Nimdok and Terry represents Benny. Each of them were recruited when teens, thus abandoned their studies/projects in order to prepare for the mission. Another parallelism between them and AM’s humans is that BE granted them the possibility of who they wanted to be initially, unlike AM who used his survivors’ past to torment and torture them. Adam became a poet/writer, Sophia an artist/painter, Benjamin a cook, Demetrius a marine biologist and Terry a musician/guitarist.

Their individual lores aren’t as developed but you can feel free to dive into the ihneaimc tag on my profile where I have previously mentioned bits of their lore. Everything will become clearer in the fic (I’ll write someday) of course.
