nurbanu and selim are very easily my favourite couple in all of mc/k! even though there are dicey moments early on (which is really applicable to any mc/k couple), it's so compelling how he's the only brother to really respect his partner's intelligence. where suleiman, ahmed, even early bayezid and in some cases mustafa all are repulsed and shocked when their partners scheme, even when it's in their interest, selim instead sees the immense effort and skill with which nurbanu intrigues and respects it. he places his trust in her ability to manoeuvre him onto the throne, and that's huge for the time. not to mention, on nurbanu's end she knows she's been put on a sinking ship by hurrem, and instead of resenting or giving up on it, she has this immense passion for selim. they advocate for each other, love each other, want power for one another, trust one another, and in general I think that really sets them apart from all the other relationships in the show.
