There is something quite "funny" that Emmaly, a country that has an economy based on gems and gold and prides itself with their technology and culture, is also pretty misogynistic and treat women are lesser, even if they are part of royal families. I guess it is to keep it real.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ramil already shown last episode what he thought about Ava's desire to compete in the Royal Fencing Competition. He can have a "friendly" competition with her, but he never saw her as a real competitor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, it's probably because he was raised this way by his father who also don't really like this idea and always saw his son as the true winner of the competition to give him the throne. There was always some contempt when he talked about Ava, in the previous episode. Deep down, he never saw her as a threat to his son.
Tumblr media
Even a character who is supposed to have no heir and looked so happy for his fellow prince to get to have his son back, is having such backward views on women. You would think, after losing his consort, he would see things differently...Alas not really.
Tumblr media
Even Ava's father seems to agree with their ideas, in some way, if we believe his freaked out face. He is her father and he seems to love her, but he has never thought it was possible for her to compete for him to have the throne. He was resigned and that's also infuriating.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thankfully, we had Khanin to remind these misogynists that the world is not stuck in the 17e century. Time to grow up!
The true heroine of this episode was Ava.

Hey, uh, if you didn't get it when you saw this?
This is how Fascism rewards the people who support it.
Dedra Meero is a cunning investigator. She is a brilliant manipulator who understands not only people, but the Public; The social construct representing collective opinion. Were she a Rebel, doubtless she'd be every bit as effective as Luthen at disrupting the Empire and rallying the Public to the Rebel cause.
But she, instead, bought wholeheartedly into the Empire. She's a Believer. Loyal, ruthless, brilliant. Certainly, she is no Thrawn, but she was one of the ISB's sharpest knives. She orchestrated the literal murder and rape of an entire planet because the Empire effectively promised her a cookie.
Syril couldn't handle it. Once he realized what was happening, he violently rejected her, rejected the Empire, and lashed out at Cassian, who he blamed for everything. Were it not for his sudden case of blaster-to-the-head disease, he might have been able to turn it around and do something good.
Partagaz couldn't handle it. Once he understood the scope of what the Empire was up against, he understood that Ghorman would never be an isolated incident. It was just the first of many. Some part of him couldn't live with himself because of it. Namely, the part that picked up the blaster.
But Dedra could. Thought she could. In any other style of governance, her methods toward the end might have been seen as shady but necessary. But Fascism? One of Fascism's chief traits is Paranoia. Anything could become a threat. Anyone. And when you've already discovered someone in your midst was a spy, Paranoia metastasizes into something so ugly, I can't even think of a word for it.
And that's when the people at the Top start giving everyone below them what they were ALWAYS going to reward them with: Death or "On Program".
That's it. Those are the only two options. There is no 'rising to the top' in Fascism. The Top likes being the Top, thank you very much, and they aren't keen on sharing.
The Top doesn't give a shit about the Public. The Public is to be bent to their benefit, and given nothing in return. And the part the Top will absolutely say out loud if you ask them that most fans of Fascism miss is that EVERYONE who is NOT the Top is the Public.
Dedra was never going to rise above her station. She was never going to get what she truly wanted. That cell was reserved for her the minute she signed up. It just took a while for them to put her there.

There's a fitting element to denying Dedra a glorious end in the service of the Empire. She doesn't get to die taking out a dangerous rebel. She doesn't get to be a martyr for the Imperial cause. She doesn't even get to walk the hallways of the Death Star before it's destruction. Instead, the Empire turns on her the moment she makes an error and consigns her to a labour camp. In the end, she becomes a victim (and yes, victim is an accurate term because no one deserves to be stripped of their personhood and imprisoned no matter what they've done) of the very system she spent her career upholding...or maybe she's returning to the bottom of the same system she's spent her entire life in. Forcibly orphaned as a child and raised in a Kinderblock, she grew up institutionalized. And eventually she rose up in the ISB, got some power, it might have seemed like she had escaped the prison of her childhood. But no one is ever truly free under a fascist system. The bars just become more gilded. And no one, no matter how exceptional or accomplished or dedicated they are, is ever going to break through them alone.

Crazy to rewatch A New Hope and have such a deeper context and emotional response when Luke enthusiastically goes, "You know about the rebellion against the Empire!?" to Threepio. To think that people as far away as Tatooine were aware of an allied rebel force. What are the odds that Luke had seen or heard Mon Mothma's speech before she was cut off? Was it playing on a screen at one of the Mos Eisley bars?

I actually have to give My Stubborn a lot of credit. Sorn is a very old school style seme, yes, but they are giving his actions modern consequences, and setting up why that kind of behavior is a disaster for any kind of actual long term romantic relationship.
The moment Sorn started harassing Jun at the copier, I had the thought, "oh this is when I would start crying". That frustration was so vivid, and so realistic. They are really doing an incredible job of putting us in Jun's shoes. And Sorn finally got his first realization that his actions can directly hurt Jun. He's been in such a bubble around their relationship, and so up his own ass about how Jun is his property, to do what he likes with. If he is going to be capable of any real love, he needs to understand and care about Jun's agency and feelings.
Also I like the reinforcement of how much Tai views Jun as his little brother, and how Champ and Tai both care so much, and want to take such good care of Jun. He's got support and love and care in his life, and I think that will be a very important factor in realizing he deserves better than what he's getting from Sorn.
Damn, how is this horny little show having such surprising depth?

Obligatory disclaimer: I love Bix. She is a healer and a fixer in a galaxy that desperately needs people like that and i respect the hell out of her. This post is absolutely not intended as Bix slander. Hell, it's not even intended as being super against Bix/Cassian, as much as partly an examination of why the relationship had to end, even beyond the obvious R1 canon-compliant reasons and within the theming of the show.
Star Wars, at its core, is a love story. In the OT, it was love that saved the galaxy; Luke’s love for his father, and Anakin’s love for Luke, while in the prequels, it was Anakin’s love for Padme that led to the destruction of the Jedi and the birth of the Empire.
Andor is also a love story. But not entirely the kind of love story you’re probably thinking of.
It’s a story of agape; selfless love. A person’s love for humanity. And Andor explores this kind of love through the use of a theme that has been consistent throughout both Andor and Rogue One.
Home.
Both seasons of Andor begin with Cassian trying to find a connection to his home. In s1 that means searching for his sister- his last connection to Kenari. We all remember how that ends. In s2, that means getting the fuck off Yavin and back to Bix, Brasso, Wilmon, and B2- his last connections to Ferrix. Brasso, of course, died, and B2 had to be left behind. In the very next arc, we see Wilmon solidify his bonds with the rebels and Saw, choosing to inhale the Rhydo, become the spark the lights the fire. Choosing the Rebellion over any of his other connections- even, as we saw in the finale, his eventual connection to Dreena. There’s a reason he never told her about the radio under his bed.
Choosing the Rebellion- which, at this point, is everywhere. Wilmon, by choosing the Rebellion, is choosing his love for humanity over his individual relationships.
This is a choice that almost everyone in Andor makes- to keep to themselves and their kind, to choose and prioritize that which is comfortable and familiar, until the truth comes knocking that eventually they won’t have a home to choose unless they rebel against the Empire and fight alongside their fellow man. Lieutenant Gorn made his decision after he “went native” and loved and lost a woman on Aldhani. Maarva begs the people of Ferrix to make it in her speech at the end of s1- “...the moment they pulled away, we forgot them. Because we had each other…if I could do it again, I’d wake up early, and fight these bastards from the start.” We saw Mon Mothma make it in s2e9- leaving Coruscant, abandoning her Chandrilan blue, to become a leader of the Rebellion.
We see Bix struggling too- all season long, she was trying to make a home of where they were at the time, and all the while Cassian was trying to make a home of her. He wanted Bix to be a place of comfort and safety, a place he could go where he didn’t have to “look up” and see the flags of the Empire. Somewhere he could rest easy.
But Bix, after her torture at the hands of Gorst, will never be able to rest easy and turn a blind eye to the suffering of the rest of the galaxy and the need for the Rebellion. It has been haunting her dreams and robbing her of sleep since. And the truth is, neither will Cassian. Any home he found with her would have been a lie.
Cassian may have loved Bix, but he wasn’t in love with her, and it certainly wasn’t a selfless love. They were codependent, and Cassian loved her for what she represented. With Bix, Cassian could shut out the atrocities being committed by the Empire, the cries for help, the truths that Mon Mothma, Maarva and eventually Jyn all convey in their speeches: Palpatine is a monster. The Empire is a disease. We created them and it is our duty to stop them; if we give way to enemies with that much power, we doom the galaxy to an eternity of submission. The time to fight is now.
Here’s another truth: for revolution to succeed, it’s not enough to hate your enemy. You have to love the people and place that you’re fighting for and who are fighting for you in turn. You have to put aside your differences and work together, and do so without hesitation.
For the Galaxy to survive, Cassian has to choose the Rebellion. He has to choose selfless love over a love that is selfish. But he can’t bring himself to do it. He’s not Nemik; he’s not a “true believer.” Even less than a day or two before Rogue One begins, Cassian is still being haunted by dreams of his sister and Kenari. He’s still searching for a home.
And then he meets Jyn.
With Jyn, Cassian sees the truth, and he cannot look away. He sees a woman who is a summary of everything terrible the Empire has ever done. He sees someone who is scared, angry, and bitter, who wants nothing more than to escape away to the Outer Rim and turn away from it all- and then he sees her change, into a woman made of stardust and hope who makes the Rebellion her home, and he realizes he can do that too. Cassian doesn't have to cling to the past to find a home; he has one in the present. He sees it on the horizon. He feels it all around him.
"Welcome home," he says, and he believes it.
Cassian sees Jyn, and it's like looking in a mirror.  And then, in the face of a massacre on Jedha, reeling from the loss of not one but two parents, burned by betrayal from the very rebels she's placed her trust in- he watches her open her heart to the Rebellion and choose to save the lives of trillions of others all across the galaxy who will never know her sacrifice. He sees her choose selflessness and love over selfishness and fear, and if she can do it, then so can he. Cassian loves Jyn unconditionally, and it moves him to love the galaxy as well.

I really love this conversation because it is gay man to gay man actual fully acknowledged conversation about preferences and how you decide/discover them within the context of the beginnings of their relationship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I do find it interesting that Piang's first response is to that assume that Juin is going to stop being attracted to men before making the full connection and realizing the specificity of the question.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Got it in one! Man, Sorn is doing a number on Juin, though. He's got this boy upside down and right side up all at the same time.
Tumblr media
But I do love Piang's final response to this. He collects himself and he reassures Juin that he might be surprised but that doesn't make it wrong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love this gay to gay talk, it's great. Queer to queer shared connection between two people who aren't in love but can be friends.
Tumblr media
And are gonna be. @absolutebl I love queer friendships and when they're a bit messy it works even better.

Sorn's idiotic guide to casual relationships (Part 2)
When your sex friend goes home to see his family, invite yourself along to meet up with them.
Tumblr media
2. Rip him away from the guy he's drunkenly trying to hook up with. Out of the kindness of your heart, of course. It's not like you're going to do it instead.
Tumblr media
3. Berate him for mentioning another guy after you brought his drunk ass back to your place.
Tumblr media
4. Figure out why he tried to sleep with another guy so it never happens again.
Tumblr media
5. Ok, so you are going to have sex with his intoxicated self, but only because when you generously offer to teach him anything he wanted, he expressed an interest in bottoming. It's not like you could let him try with someone else.
Tumblr media
6. Make breakfast for him the morning after. Invite him to stay another night and then pout when he insists on going back to his dorm.
Tumblr media
7. When you're at work, gaze at him so longingly that other coworkers express their concern.
Tumblr media
8. You sense that the delivery guy might have looked at him for more than three seconds, so you hover over him while you demand to know what they were talking about. You do this in the middle of the office, like the true professional that you are.
Tumblr media
9. Invite him to eat with you. Since he won't stay at your place, you can at least have meals together every day like totally normal sex friends.
Tumblr media
10. Make jokes about marrying him.
Tumblr media
11. Pick him up from work and lure him back to your place with food.
Tumblr media
12. Threaten him with kisses when you guys argue because he doesn't want to come over.
Tumblr media
13. Hand feed him the dinner you made for him, then sulk because once again he persists on returning to his dorm.
Tumblr media
14. Offer to give him a ride. When you arrive teach him how to give a kiss that makes one long for more. The kiss apparently works on you too though, because you pretend to be too tired to drive back so that you can stay in his pigsty of a room.
Tumblr media
15. When he tries to break off the arrangement with you, persuade him to continue by putting down his bed skills so he'll feel how necessary you are and won't find someone else.
Tumblr media
16. Tell him to break it off with the guy he's flirting with. When he calls you out for acting like an overly possessive boyfriend, assert that there's no feelings involved.

How to have a casual relationship, no strings attached, according to Sorn:
Ask the guy you helped get off twice if he stayed loyal to you after you disappeared without notice. Then act territorial and maul him when he says he didn't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Offer to teach the guy to kiss, but remain salty that he didn't stay faithful to your non-relationship after you went no contact. (You, of course, were free to mess around as you please.)
Tumblr media
3. Tell him that you're his trainer now so he can't kiss anyone else.
Tumblr media
4. Make him breakfast the morning after, pack him a snack for work, and then pout that he won't wear the shirt you prepared for him:
Tumblr media
5. Kiss him randomly throughout the day for "practice".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. Jealously question him when you see him talking to a coworker:
Tumblr media
7. Quickly cover him up with your jacket and scold him when his rain-soaked shirt draws admiring attention from others.
Tumblr media
8. When he suggests he might flirt with other people, vehemently insist on his fidelity (in your supposedly casual relationship). Bristle at him even joking about finding someone else.
Tumblr media
9. Take him out for dinner and shopping. Offer to pay for the shirt he likes so he'll finally wear something you bought.
Tumblr media
Sorn, the narrative has both said and shown the you've had plenty of casual relationships before, so what exactly do you think you're doing with Jun?

I am apparently late but watching pit babe season 2 trailer got me out of my slump era.
Like, what do you mean we have Babe losing the race to this new dude and Charlie literally gently pushes Babe back to defend him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, Charlie 🤌🏼
And a possibility of an amnesia plot. God damn. I am about to lose my mind if it is what it is. Charlie asking Babe if they are a couple and Babe blinking at him with soft eyes and with a fucking ring on his finger?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ring. Ring. The fucking ring. And Babe's soft smile? Yeah. I am finding a cliff to jump from. 🥲
And Pete Chris? Pete fucking Way's look alike. His sex partner? Hello? I didn't even know I was that excited for this pairing. And Kim and Kenta kissing? With Kim holding Kenta's gun? Excuse me, sir?
Tumblr media
Like what's going on with Pete? Pete!? and also Kenta getting kissed like he deserves to be 🤌🏼
And of course, North and Sonic finally getting to be a couple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The visuals? 🥹🤌🏼
Finally the makers saw the fics and decided to have all of these people kiss. I swear. And the damn lab experiment? I think it is Winner and I don't know how I feel about Dean and Winner yet. Jeff having nose bleeds and being scared? Give me more of Charlie whump because why else would Babe butt his nose in there if not for his boyfriend/possible husband. The xrated scenes of Charlie and Babe? I am absolutely seated.
Tumblr media
Jeff in hospital. I wonder what is going on, and Tony standing on the top of the building like he didn't terrorize these children. What a bitch.
Also, respectfully - fuck you tumblr for limiting ten photos per post.

Indeed think the thing i like most about Kinnporsche as a show is that its a tragedy, porsche loses. He gets drawn into a life he never wanted and is trapped there forever, he will never know what actually happened to his parents because his mother is catatonic and korn will literally never tell him the truth. Porsche’s most immediate want outside of NOT JOINING THE MOB (which he now partially runs) is to protect his little brother and make sure he has a better life. Well guess what, your brother dropped out of school will always be in danger due to the job you dont want and is actively sobbing the last time we see him. Korn’s last line “the winner writes history is actually chilling because korn won, he got everything he wanted and its actually insane
