Ever had a distant relative send a gift and your mom made you take a picture with it to show you loved it or something? This is what this picture makes me think of. I've been wanting to jump back into drawing more of these two because I've not been drawing a lot lately in general. I have to admit, I'm a hobby hopper. In my head they received these fans from another nation, maybe Fire Nation or Earth Kingdom. What's funniest to me is how pointless the fans are in the tundra (I mean maybe it gets hot, and it's cool decor, but definitely I can imagine they would find more use out of them in the EK or FN) Even though he looks the most bored, I bet Desna actually loves the fans because they're very intricately made, I imagine he's the artistic type. Eska likes them but didn't understand the need to take a picture about the gifts.

I also figured to how to do timelapses in CSP, I had no idea it had that ability, I am excited to show my 2 days of work within the span of 30 seconds.

Some Eska and Desna headcanons, and headcanons relating to them.

The reason Eska and Desna speak so verbose and poetic is because Unalaq wouldn't stop badgering them to use more proper language, and as a joke they played it up 10 fold hoping it would annoy him. Malicious compliance kinda stuff. But, it went from being a joke, to being something they just couldn't stop doing.

Everyone already had this headcanon probably, but I'll reiterate, Eska and Desna are autistic.

When Korra was super young, she was probably SUPER excited to meet her cousins for the first time. Likely she didn't interact with many kids at her compound so she thought, them being cousins, she'd get to be friends with them real easy. But no, they were so unequipped to even interact with Korra that they didn't even look up to speak with her when she greeted them. Which is why she thinks they're weird and doesn't really try to get too close. I also thought, if there was no Unalaq, would E&D and Korra have been more friendly or closer?

Eska doesn't just initially dislike Korra because of Bolin, but the act of Bolin being near or interacting with Korra was just a reinforcement of a feeling that was already there. She's undoubtedly extremely jealous of Korra cause of her father favoring her. Likely he compared Eska (and Desna) to Korra constantly, while berating them.

Eska is clearly the more explosively angry twin, but her rage teeters out really fast. The whole engagement situation is probably the longest she's ever managed to stay angry about something.

Desna seems calmer, but when he's mad, it can be very hard to read, and he could stay angry about something for years if he was left to his own devices. Luckily he's more patient and forgiving than his sister.

Both twins were sad about their father's demise, but really did not know how to handle those emotions or even recognize them. No doubt they feel a mix of emotions about it. On one hand, they grew up believing he was so great and wise, and that whatever he was doing, it was for the greater good. Lest it be the cost of their lives. Love had no place between them, especially as royalty, right? At least that's probably what they told themselves. Why get sad that he doesn't care? Or that he dies? he turned out to be a bad guy anyways. He didn't even care about them. So why do the very few good times they did have keep flashing in their minds?

These teenagers getting chiefdom is CRAZY right? Didn't even hand it to their mother? Maybe she didn't want it. But either way, of course they were mess around with these responsibilities, especially without anyone to tell them what they can and cannot do. Aside from their council. I have more, but I'll post those another time. It feels good to get these thoughts out. If you read these, I would love to know your thoughts!

Unskippable Eska and Desna Cutscene- Blender

So I'm a bit autistic guys, obviously, and I've always wanted to make a 3d version of water tribe places. On one hand I need practice modelling 3d spaces, rather than just humanoids, and I feel like a place like the water tribe would be best to start with, its mostly ice and snow, and I really like it so I'll actually do it. I decided to start with the throne room in the Northern Water Tribe, its great to start because its not too much to begin with, and I can put my E+D models in there for fun! I want to get the size right so I go into blender and try to measure it out with this image as an example:

I decided also to sift through screenshots to see how characters measure up to the chair (From the base to the bottom of the insignia is like 6 feet just about) I check every time this room shows up in book 2 and 3, the chair changes sizes, but that's easy to explain, clearly the twins got their own, and its about the same size.

I even found a reverse shot of the same room, oh happy days! I innocently thought.

NOW, NOTE THE WINDOWS BEHIND ZUKO AND TONRAQ. They made me think most likely that that is the entrance of the northern palace. I look through screenshots from the last airbender to get a closer look. Shown here:

I thought "That's strange, the palace looks like its WAY BIGGER than that actually" I sift through more AtLA screenshots and find the same throne room, perfect! I can see more details this way, except... Wait...

Guys when I saw this I thought I had lost it. I thought, maybe I'm just imagining things. But... this screenshot matches up perfectly with the one in Korra. EXCEPT ONE GLARING ISSUE. ITS LIKE 3 TIMES LARGER !! Look at them side by side.

Not only that but when you compare the steps on both these screenshots it looks CRAZY!!!

If I edit the images to make someone on the AtLA side sit on the throne of the Korra side, I got this lovely image:

Now that's more like it. That little dudes just about as short as me in real life. BUT WHY THOUGH?! RIGHT?! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON HERE?! I have theories... Theory 1: they fucked up the scaling in book 2 by mistake but couldn't just take it back and pretend it never happened in the same series. I mean the Korra ver is a direct repaint of the AtLA ver, most likely they got the reference images without indication of scale ?? BUT THAT THEORY IS BORING. Theory 2: the original throne room was repurposed, and they built a miniature version for the chief that came before Unalaq, which would perfectly fit into my other theory of who he is. Theory 3: People in the avatar world are GROWING. Like how there was once giant mega-fauna in our world due to the sun's radiation, but in reverse.

Theory 4: (An extension of theory 2) There's a secret smaller palace that we keep seeing in Korra. The original is inaccessible for whatever reason.

I don't know, though, I guess I'll figure it out. I like it bigger. It just makes more sense.
