Current thoughts on H and L bellow.

I’m usually more of a lurker and haven’t posted or consistently interacted with fandom stuff in a very long while, but I feel the need to express a few Thoughts. I’ll put it under a cut cause I feel like it’s going to be a long and rambling one.

I’ve been in this fandom for a decade, I’ve seen A LOT both from H/L and fans.

I’m very much aware that most of the discourse and fandom chatter (conspiracies included) is mainly projection. Whether people like to admit it or not we don’t actually know them, we only see teeny-tiny glimpses into their lives and that is very little to ever assume we know the truth in any capacity. So pretty much most of what we think we know about the boys is a projection to some degree. On all sides of the fandom. These projections however are heavily influenced by the image they choose to present, whether through stunts, social media, interactions with fans online/irl etc. as such I do believe that most of the things we see/know about them in the last decade is because they choose to show us. What I mean by that is that they interact with fandom so seldomly that it’s stupid to believe that the thought of those interactions being analysed doesn’t cross their minds. Yes, this culture of overanalysing and looking for clues in anything has reached questionable levels in some corners of the fandom, but it doesn’t negate that they most probably do think about the message their clothes send before going out in public where they know they will be photographed (and yes, they know -there is a reason they can disappear for months when they want to, Niall went on a trip around the world without getting photographed once!). That’s not to say we have to look obsessively into everything they do, but do you really believe it doesn’t cross Louis’s mind before a show that it might not be the best idea to wear green track pants and blue shoes? Or have blue and green lights on stage knowing very well how fans interpret that?

I believe them communicating like this in the beginning was a sign of defiance against management (especially rbb/sbb), in time though it has become more of a way to ask for and receive support, make themselves feel seen, sometimes just acknowledging they were still together, showing love for the other, and honestly in the better times just for the fun of seeing us lose our minds.

The whole long winded paragraph above leads into my next points.

I was on my way out. I literally was about to leave the fandom completely because I’d gotten to the conclusion that they broke up at some point in the last 2-3 years. There were still a few things giving me pause (a few thing Louis did, Harry singing Hopelessly devoted) but I had mostly made up my mind because of the fact that they spent extremely long periods of time in different countries, Harry always going out, the peace ring, the lack of any ‘signaling’ that felt intentional, overall they seemed sad (even on tour - I saw both of them and their energy was just… off), retrospectively the break-up songs made more sense, although the timing doesn’t (Chicago, Saturdays, HOTH, LOML, Boyfriends -all songs they insisted were very special to them).

All that is to say I wasn’t the only one. So many larries who were here for a loooong time have left the fandom. I assume many for the same reasons: they were no longer sending messages that they were together. There are still a lot of larries left, especially on twitter, younger, more flexible (I.e. believe Louis’ a dad, open relationship, stunt gf being real gfs etc). but most of them are not the kind of die hard larries like those who stuck through 2015-2016. Yes some are also loud and obnoxious, but you can literally mute them/key words and get a timeline full of Zara/F/OW/flavour of the week tweets.

What I’m trying to say is that I am very confused and very much put off by whatever is going on right now.

Glastonbury was planned 100%. You cannot convince me otherwise. All of it was very much intentional. What are the chances Louis accidentally likes that video and coincidentally has that T-shirt which later gets a full focus picture in his photo dump? Or even Harry’s T-shirt linked to that set-list?

That’s why Louis’ disproportionate reaction on twitter is…weird. It feels planned as well, I just don’t understand what they are trying to achieve?

Why revive the dead larrie fandom? (So many people came out of the woodworks after Glastonbury) Only to knock them back down?

At this point I’m back to being on my way out, unless in the next few months i get some answers. I’m going to hang out in the ‘doorway’ (with so snacks lol) until there’s new music so I can make up my mind, but the way things are right now, I just feel unwelcome in Louis’ fandom.

Note1: I’m not for one second questioning whether or not they were together, I’ve seen too much to ever believe those two were not in love at some point.

when you think about it teenagers of the next generation will never get to experience a cw show with 7+ seasons and 22 episodes per season. they will never know what it's like to be insanely obsessed with a mediocre show with mediocre writing and mediocre acting (with one really good actor carrying the show on their backs). they will never know the feeling of fighting weekly in the trenches for your ship only for the writers to screw you over. they will never be so increasingly disappointed by the worsening writing choices as the seasons progress and they will never know what it's like to watch the worst series finale after investing years into a show. and that is the biggest tragedy.
