My Predictions for the 2012 Presidential Election

I am predicting that President Barack Obama will defeat Governor Mitt Romney and Governor Gary Johnson. I am predicting that Barack Obama will obtain a sum of 290 electoral votes compared to Governor Mitt Romney's projected 248 electoral votes. Governor Gary Johnson is not predicted to win any electoral votes in this election. Isolating many libertarian minded people nationwide could have hurt Governor Romney very badly in states like Nevada and Ohio where the Libertarian party presidential candidate Governor Gary Johnson is polling about 11% of the vote. I think what we are seeing is a strong rise in the idea of Libertarianism and could be looking at having three major political parties in the near future.

World Trade Center’s spire being held for ‘ransom’ in Quebec company’s backyard The 137-metre-long spire intended to crown the skyscraper replacing the World Trade Center on Manhattan’s skyline sits in the yard of a Quebec company which, a lawsuit claims, is holding the pinnacle for “ransom” and jeopardizing the completion of the tallest building in the Western hemisphere. “I know I’m not making friends right now but at the end of the day, money is money and business is business,” said Jean Paschini, chairman and chief executive officer of ADF Group Inc. of Terrebonne, Que. “I’m not holding it hostage, it’s here in my backyard,” he said. He then added: “Pay me and then you get your antenna… Let’s resolve everything, then you get your nice antenna so you can put it up.”

In Focus: 50 Years Ago: The Cuban Missile Crisis

On October 15, 1962, a group of CIA analysts assigned to review aerial photographs of Cuba identified several newly established Soviet medium-range ballistic missile installations — bases within 100 miles of the United States. The State Department was notified that night, and President John F. Kennedy was briefed the next morning, setting in motion a crisis that brought the world frighteningly close to nuclear war. The U.S. considered options, deployed troops and weapons to Florida, confronted the Soviets at the UN, and shortly set up a naval blockade of Cuba. For 13 tense days, the crisis deepened and people around the world feared the very real possibility of a new, horrific worldwide conflict. On October 27, the U.S. and Soviets reached a secret agreement, where Kennedy would order the removal of missiles in southern Italy and Turkey, and Khrushchev would remove all missiles in Cuba. Over the following weeks, U.S. forces monitored the departure of 42 missiles aboard eight Soviet ships, and the crisis was averted. Gathered here are a few glimpses from those tense Cold War days, as the world approached, then retreated from, the brink of destruction.

In the Q&A section, which looks vaguely like “The View.” One of the questions was about the electoral college, which Stewart supports getting rid of and O’Reilly opposes, saying “If you have a popular vote, these people in New York, L.A., they control it.” O’Reilly thinks a third party will show up soon.
