my parents were at a festival in the early 90 at a time when a Danish name equivalent to Connor was popular for young men, so they made a bar ONLY for Connors called the CONNOR BAR where ONLY Connors were let in. They were given paper crowns, T-shirts that’s said “Hurray I’m a Connor”, and served all the free beer they could drink in the Corner Sofas that were plentiful, pun very much intended.

Problem was there were TOO MANY Connors so it was quite a bad business, so the year after they changed it to Connor AND Callie bar, where you could only get in if you had a matching Callie-

So of course, while my mum was not called Callie, he did not give up, so he placed himself in front of the bar with a big banner saying CALLIE WANTED!

And it sure worked!

i love the term "joshing." it's slang, meaning to joke or tease playfully. "i'm just joshing you." who is this notorious josh. who joshed so much that the whole concept got named after him
