How did you figure out how to paint skin(s)?

Hi! I’m assuming this is for my art blog, but :D

I have to be honest, I just squint really hard at the pics and check every stroke and shadow. Sometimes, I hope for the best.

GSHSHSJ, okay, in all seriousness, I saved a bunch of references on my phone to help me look at it every time I wanna paint, like this one:

This goes the same thing for skin tones. Sometimes, I colour drop them from the characters and apply it on my art, just for accuracy, because I’m a terrible perfectionist. But here’s another reference that’ll be helpful for you too!

Here's the next installment in my endless quest to try and figure out how the heck clone armor works: some range of motion studies! I made some minor adjustments to the squad's armor that trades protection for greater maneuverability and I wanted to see how that works in practice. So I tossed the studies together and made some ref sheets with design notes! 👍
