Fuchsia Ninja / Master(s) of Surprise

Hey, do y’all remember these two posts (theory and follow-up) I did a WHIIIIILE back on the movie!Fuchsia Ninja?

Well, here’s a second follow-up with the lore!

So the OG Master of Surprise was William F. Murray — otherwise known as the Mailman. Yes, that mailman. The legend himself. And yes the F. stands for Fuchsia. With the elemental power of surprise, he has the ability to duplicate himself (I came up with it long before Figment became a thing haha)— a very useful ability for a postman.

But one day he gets a panicked call from his 10-ish year old neiph, Odoroki, who got kicked out by their birth parents for coming out as nonbinary (afab). So William pedals like a madman, picks them up, and adopts them, and now he has one kid.

And he thinks to himself “hey, I’m doing good at the post, I don’t really need my powers anymore, I want to pass them on” and decides to pass them to Odoroki.

Now, for William, the copies he summoned using his powers were temporary, and not sentient— more like extensions of himself he could dismiss at will, let him be in more places at once (so he could pop up and ‘surprise’ someone).

This is not exactly the case for Odoroki.

William came home one day after recently passing on his powers to find not one, but eight near-identical kids— seven 10-year olds and one 6-year old. These are the eight perma-copies— each sentient with their own individuality, and each with the ability to summon non-sentient temporary-copies.

Quite the surprise indeed.

So the Odorokis are as following, from oldest (mentally)/‘closest to the original’ to the youngest:

Roki — Has their true potential. Based on Purple Jacket from the movie (the one that started the entire theory), though they don’t go to Ninjago High because they’re older. Instead, they go to NCC (Ninjago City College) along with their friends Morro, Wrayth, Dove, and Kuro (together known as the College Crew). Has the most strongest memories of being Odoroki pre-Surprise (the others have the memories too, but more distant/less emotionally connected). Sometimes just goes as Odoroki when necessary and is the one with the original legal ID that the others got similar forgeries of (thanks to Cyrus Borg).

Doorki — Possibly has their true potential. The undercover agent (to collect information for Fuchsia-ninja work) who overworks themselves constantly and sometimes makes temporary clones to cover all their shifts all over the city— the post office, the museum, the Volcano, the Mayor’s office, etc. Is the leader/Fuchsia Ninja in Senator Trustable’s New Ninja after being blackmailed (like the rest of the movie!New Ninja, whom they are very protective of).

Roku — Has their true potential. Always helps at the Museum (usually in the back rooms) or is out exploring/patrolling the outskirts of the city as the Fuchsia Ninja. They tend to be more responsible and takes on a leadership role when Roki isn’t around (and sometimes even when they are). They are reasonable-headed and winds up calling out Doku the most; because they tend to have shifts after Doku, they have to clear up their miscommunications (and sometimes gets mistaken for Doku and yelled at, which they translate into a 2-hour long lecture for Doku).

Kiri — Inspired by Purple Cardigan of the movie. Does not actually go to NH (Ninjago High), just likes to pretend occasionally to tease Riku. Thinks they are the coolest thing since sliced bread. They are not. They do not have their true potential (which likely has something to do with taking their ego down three notches).

Koru — Does not have their true potential and is okay with it (which is technically a paradox that would allow them to reach their true potential by accepting they don't need it thus accepting the one thing holding them back). Works as a camp councillor at a camp on the outskirts of the Ninjago Jungle and tends to be more isolated from the others, though they visit on the holidays.

Doku — Does not have their true potential. Is almost always the Fuchsia Ninja. They are more impulsive, abrasive, and cocky, leading them to often put their foot in their mouth. At heart, though, they mean well and are just very protective of their family and, when they think that family is being threatened, tend to act/speak before they think (causing many miscommunications). Occasionally is just plain dumb of ass though.

Riki — The errand runner of the group (even if they rather play cards with temporary copies in the mailroom back area). Always helping their dad with the post. They are subconscious about being a perma-copy and pretends to be a ‘real human teenager’ like White (movie!Zane). As such, they are quick to destabilize (poofing into a temporary 'spirit' form (think the Poes from Tears of the Kingdom, just in fuchsia) if something brings up that they are not the ‘original’ or that they are a ‘summon’/'not human'. Does NOT have their true potential (is the furthest from achieving it) because of the above. While technically the same age as the others above them in the order, they are mentally closer to Riku's age and would go to NH if they were in school instead of homeschooled.

Riku — Inspired by Purple Sweater of the movie. They have their true potential (but still occasionally get insecurities over turning out 'wrong' as they were the only perma-copy to turn out younger than the rest). As the youngest by a few years, they go to NH (Ninjago High) instead, and are in Red (movie!Kai's) Philosophy Class (also known as the Conspiracy class that likes to talk about cryptids and how the local noodle house chain is totally the front of a mafia). They're seen as the class "pretty boy (/gender neutral)" and tends to be very laid back and chill unless the class is getting out of hand (and being too loud for their friend Cinco, who is secretly the EM of Mind). They have the longest fuchsia patterns which they cover with hoodie sleeves (though they tend to wear fingerless gloves and pass the fuchsia on their fingertips as paint), and they wear their mouth mask as they had visible surgery for cleft lip and a fuchsia-coloured scar; they're tired of dealing with people asking and demanding to know their medical history (they aren't ashamed of it, just people suck). They are the only perm-copy (out of those who wanted top surgery immediately) to not have top surgery yet due to being the youngest (instead, they wear binders and baggy hoodies- binder buddies with Blue (movie!Jay)).

They all have fuchsia-coloured eyes, fuchsia colouration to any scars, and at least one fuchsia streak in their hair along with fuchsia markings on their arms (the markings are longer the 'younger' the perma-copy is; Riki worries it has to do with being the most 'imperfect' version of the original). Any temp-copies they summon will have the same markings, but often much longer.

They are also all afab but use they/them pronouns (and each prefers a different range of presenting; some use binders, others don't, still others only sometimes, etc.)

Also @weekend-whip yes Roki is wearing the same jacket I once drew Jesse in (and I took some slight Jesse inspiration for the hair), I think several of them would get along with Jesse (but Doku at least might see him as competition and have one-sided beef haha)

Movie!Zane is only at 6.7%?!? MOVIE!ZANE?! The memelord himself?! The wild teen, the vine quoter, the internet sleuth?! Movie!Zane was RAISED on Spinblr and Ao3. He is the one writing half of the Secret Ninjaforce fandom fics by himself. He is the biggest shipper in the all the realms. He flirts in fanfic tropes. He lives for only one bed. He dreams of kabedoning (or being kabedoned by) someone cute.

Show!Zane doesn’t know what fanfiction is. Movie!Zane was there when the scriptures were made.

In fairness—

Red/Movie!Kai does read fanfic though, that’s true. His sleep schedule is already shot by insomnia, caffeine addiction, and seer visions, he may as well pull all-nighters binging fanfiction too

Green/Lloyd reads fics specifically about the Green Ninja because anything with Lloyd Garmadon is hate writing. Green Ninja fics make him cry because that’s HIM people care about HIM

Blue/Jay is also an avid fic reader. Maybe writes too but is too anxious to post

But come’on. It’s Movie!Zane, y’all. He’s one of us.

Watched Ninjago Monstrosity and now I’m manifesting a movieverse AU thing because o w w w (if you know you know)

SPOILERS BELOW

So I have been emotionally devastated by Rusty (the fandom(?) name for the fire mech) sacrificing himself so I’m making a counterpart for him in the movieverse that gets to live with a happy family in a safe home <3

TLDR because I don’t have a lot for this concept yet but Red (m!Kai) finds m!Rusty during a cryptid hunt gone sour and manages to reactive him and then the two escape together and m!Rusty becomes like the cool cousin/uncle/sibling/however they’re related (which— they very much could actually be, if Rusty’s creator was a previous master of fire who was related to the Smiths) to the Smith sib trio of Red, Cyan (m!Nya), and Green (m!Lloyd) as well as technically m!Morro (a college student and Green’s favourite (and only) cousin)

Please feel free to add additional ideas or comments or hcs or whatnot if you want/need as a coping mechanism <3

My guess is they also thought Mateo was trying to “get over losing Z-Blob”/forcing concentration on the tournament by quite literally cutting anything to do with Z out of his mind. That includes a full outfit/appearance change (Logan turns blue and Cooper can turn into a robot, it’s not impossible). Plus purple is such a stark colour change to green— people might have thought he was trying to mimic a comic character to give himself more confidence as a coping mechanism

The second half of this is that until this point, fully independently sentient dream creations (ie. those made by sand) was a very rare concept only seen by Mateo and Lunia (to our knowledge). There are sentient dream beings, yes— but one that looks like a Dreamer? No. It’s very possible no one knew the Never Witch had that ability and thus your first thought on seeing Madteo— especially when full costume changes are a very real and normal thing for aware Dreamers— isn’t “evil clone” but rather “Mateo is trying to cope with his grief by fully ignoring it and adopting a different persona with no attachment to Z-blob”. Once people are aware evil doppels are a thing that can exist, no one falls for it again.

Couple that with Oz being very focused on Royce, Logan being focused on Astrid, Zoey being focused on her dad, and Cooper being smitten, and you have most of the people that know Mateo well enough to realize something is off being distracted. Izzie is the one who realizes he’s acting too off— that this isn’t just about Z-Blob (or ignoring the loss of Z-Blob), and that this look and persona isn’t based on another character of his or a comic character he likes

I like Dreamzzz and all, but I can't help but question all of the characters' IQs from the whole dream chaser tournament thing in season two part one. Cause like. How did no one notice that Madteo was not Mateo??? they literally are different colors. in every where, and it took Madteo getting everyone domed by the Never Witch to get them to realize that the Never Witch's clones are EVIl.

I’m guessing it’s just show/cartoon logic? Because I believe the design are made to still be completely opposites than their originals so they threw logic aside.

If we’re going purely off movie, then my vote is Blue/Jay

Cyan/Nya is also in some advanced classes, but she spends more time biking, so she’s in one less than Blue “people pleaser” Walker

As for White/Zane— he could easily be in all advanced classes. But White is a “wild teenager”. He COULD, but he WON’T, because he is the rebellious slacker of the group who writes his essays “at the last minute” and “crams half an hour before tests” and does whatever he can to fit in with his peers, and so doesn’t take advanced classes even though he could

Post movie/true potential, however, when White is more comfortable with his nindroid side, he does wind up taking more advanced classes

Also poor Lloyd tried to get in an advanced class for his favourite subject but the teacher said “absolutely not” and wouldn’t let him

And there’s no way Red/Kai “sleeps during class because he spent all night hunting cryptids” Jiang-Smith and Black/Cole “I’d rather be making music in my mech” Brookstone want to be in advanced classes. They probably have a subject or two they could be in, but they don’t want to

My art teacher assigned up a slideshow to make and I leave school in a couple days...also my alarm to make this poll went off In class so I got embarrassed to make this.

I've only been in 1 advanced class got an A on the final but did mid on the test.

Who do you think makes the suits for the Administration? Like they have agents of all different sizes, species, and body types, and everyone is wearing crisp, perfectly fitted suits. Is there a tailor branch that makes these suits (and backups when suits get singed or tattered on missions)? Or, because it’s the Realm of Madness, do suits just spawn in an agent’s closet or on their desks with a nametag?

I binged Secret Life and am almost finished Wild Life (yes I know I'm out of order, I'll go back and (probably) watch the rest of the seasons in order)- starting Hermitcraft is daunting though. Any recommendations for a first-time viewer? Is there a specific channel or do I need to watch multiple POVs (and if so, is there an order) or...?

For Hermitcraft, you can start anywhere from anyone, it doesn’t really matter.

I started with Grian’s season 6 and caught all the way up until 10, but that took *quite* a while

I’ve also seen Scar’s season 9, and am currently watching his 10

But yeah basically it’s just pick any hermit and season and you’re good. You can definitely watch multiple POVs, but you don’t need to if you don’t want to

My favorite seasons are 9 and 10, from Grian and Scar if you’re looking for recommendations tho

This!! This right here!! This is why nobody, and I mean NOBODY (I’m looking at you, Royce) can say that Logan is weak.

His powers are incredibly strong. Not only did he affect the gosh darn NEVER WITCH, who is [redacted spoilers] and a very powerful spellcaster— he affected her FROM REALMS AWAY. The distance that music travelled and could still affect her—

And that was by ACCIDENT. Imagine if Logan tried on purpose.

Sure, maybe it was just a one-off gag. But I like to think it’s foreshadowing hidden as a joke that Logan is stronger than anyone (including himself) thinks

This is just more evidence for @angeldrawsstuffs and I’s theory that Logan is connected to Lunia in some way. The blue, the unique style of dreamcrafting (that involves bringing dream creatures to life— Mateo & Izzie did it with Z-Blob & Bunchu, but usually you need a strong basis— Mateo’s character he drew so often in the Waking World and Izzie’s plushes, which she needs (and they aren’t active without her summons). Sure, maybe the boombox wouldn’t have persisted as long as Z-Blob, but maybe it would have— and either way, Logan didn’t consciously make it the way Izzie does with Bunchu)

But yeah Logan is really strong, way stronger than people (in-universe) give him credit for

It doesn't surprise me that she doesn't like Logan's music.

Ninjago Magazine Comics Translated Issue 98 - The Kidnapping

If you didn't know, Blue Ocean has a variety of non-canon Ninjago comic magazines. I'm working on translating a few of my favourites from German to English for you all to enjoy (see Issue 85, the first one I translated, for more details). This story is post-Crystalized. Your tags and reactions to my first translation gave me motivation to translate more, and I'm glad people are enjoying them! Ninjago Magazine Comics Translated Issue 85 - The Sea Monster

Hey everyone! If you didn't know, Blue Ocean has a variety of non-canon Ninjago comics (minus one canon comic ft. the story of Lilly) in magazines. They're fun extra stories that happen between scenes or episodes of the show; but some of my favourites, like the one below, are between seasons. This one is Post Seabound. You can sometimes find these magazines in English, but they tend to be pretty rare depending on the area. They are, however, very popular in Europe, especially Germany, which is where I got my collection. As I'm bilingual in German, I've translated the comic below, trying to keep it as direct as possible while still making sense in English. Let me know if y'all enjoy it and if there's any issues in particular you want to see translated (I don't have every issue, but I have a fair bit from newer seasons and a few of older seasons).

Bizarro Ninja Names

So. Question to all my fellow ninjago fans.

What are your hc's for the names of the bizarro ninja from Double Trouble (or additional ones like for Lloyd & Nya)? I'm really curious what people call them and why!

I'll start the thread with my own hcs that I made with a few wonderful friends

Bizarro!Kai -- Aki Forge -- his first name is an anagram of "Kai" (and means 'autumn', where the leaf colours match that of fire) while his last name Forge is both a "forgery" joke and a synonym of "Smith"

Bizarro!Movie!Kai -- Kaigami Julien -- first name is a pun on the name "Kagami", meaning 'mirror', last name is because they get adopted by the Julien family because he's a nindroid built by the Mechanic

Bizarro!Cole -- Loce/Chronos "Chons" Bournrock -- Loce is an anagram for Cole, the chemical formula for coal is C₁₃₇H₉₇O₉NS , or "Chons", and a bourn is a small stream synonymous with brook, as in Brookstone, plus it sounds like "born (of) rock"

Bizarro!Movie!Cole -- Charcoal -- Cole sounds like coal, this one is... pretty easy to tell the origins of ajfksalfjka, he's a clone made by movie!Vangelis who wasn't going for creativity

Bizarro!Zane -- Nane Hawk -- Turn the 'Z' in "Zane" sideways and boom, Nane (which also means 'no-one' or 'no-part of a whole'). Hawk is an alternative to a falcon

Bizarro!Movie!Zane -- Oread "Oreid" -- oreads were mountain nymphs in Ancient Greek mythology and is the type of nymph Echo was in mythos (and we all know why the name Echo is relative to a Zane); in this universe, he's a nindroid built by Garmadon's enginerds with seagull features for peak obnoxiousness (and yes, that one seagull laughing meme)

Bizarro!Jay -- Cage Steller -- Cage sounds a bit like just the letter "K" (plus a 'g'/'j'-like sound) , similar to how Jay sounds like "J", and works as a birdcage reference ; and a Steller's Jay is a type of jay

Bizarro!Movie!Jay -- Jayden Walker -- I think this one is obvious too, he's an oni who ran away from the First Realm & gets adopted by the Walkers after copying m!Jay's identity as a human disguise (think V from The Owl House)

Bonus:

Bizarro!Lloyd -- Dyoll/Floyd -- Yeah this is another reference. No it isn't creative. Yes it's funny. Yes it's also an acronym like the others.

Bizarro!Movie!Lloyd -- Christofern -- Y'all know why. Except he's an oni/part oni made of magic (and maybe a tiny bit of magic tea (leaves) so uhhhh surprise m!Lloyd you have a half-brother on your dad's side

Bizarro!Nya -- Yan/Nereid Forge -- Yan means 'beautiful' and is an acronym of Nya while nereid are sea nymphs from Ancient Greek mythology (and the same Forge 'forgery / smith' reference applies as it does with Aki)

Bizarro!Movie!Nya -- Kujira -- means 'whale' and may have been a potential word inspiration for the name "Wojira" ; a merlopian clone made of magic by the Followers of Wojira to help awaken the sleeping serpentine goddess

Bizarro!PIXAL -- Byte -- 'the basic unit of information in computer storage and processing' and a play on words like "gigabyte, terabyte, etc.'
