talktorickgrimes
heavily weighted exhaustion pulls at her eyelids as she desperately struggles to keep them open; it had been days since she’d last had a restful night. but she pushed through while blue hues intently keep their focus on the back of his head as she follows close behind him. anna was thankful to be out of the place that had haunted her for weeks, forced to witness them pick off her group one by one in order to feed off of them. those people were no better than the walkers they fought so hard to keep away from. but that place had made it far more difficult to trust, even those who had taken their time to save her.
their escape had lead them to the woods and in the distance you could hear the low, throaty growls of the undead and the screams of those being treated like the tortured souls they’d kept captive within their own walls. it had always been in anna’s nature to be independent and that urge grew with each step she took behind the lead of a stranger.
❛ where are we goin’? i think i got a right ta know. ❜

mr. and mrs. smith - sentence meme pt. 1
“I guess that’s what happens in the end, you start thinking about the beginning.” "I never told you, but I was married once before." "It was just a drunken Vegas thing." "Oh, that’s better. That’s much better." "Happy endings are just stories that haven’t finished yet." "Your aim’s as bad as your cooking sweetheart…and that’s saying something." "Don’t tell me how to handle my wife." "Tell me you got smart and that you killed that lying bitch." "Guess that was just wishful thinking." "Still alive, baby?" "We have an unusual problem here." "You obviously want me dead, and I’m less and less concerned for your well-being." "Dance with me." "It was just my cover, sweetheart." "Wait, why do I get the girl gun?" "It’s called evasive driving, sweetheart!" "Hiya, stranger." "You burn the picture after you get the assignment! It’s the first thing you learn!" "Oh, I must have missed that lesson. Just like you missed the one about not marrying the enemy!" "If you don’t like them we can take them back." "You’ll get used to them." "That vacation in Aspen, you left early, why?" "Damn, I wanted him." "These fuckers get younger every year." "Any last words?" "The new curtains are hideous." "I thought I told you not to bother me at the office, honey." "I have a thoery, newly developed." "I’m think you killed us." "Why do you care? I was just a cover." "Who says you were just a cover?" "Ask us the sex question." "Oh, look. More desert." "Web of lies!" "I missed you." "That’s the second time you’ve tried to kill me today." "Oh, come on, it was just a little bomb." "Come on, let’s talk about this! You don’t want to go to bed angry!" "What’s new?" "My parents died when I was five. I’m an orphan." "Who was that kind fellow who gave you away at our wedding?" "I can’t believe I brought my real parents to our wedding." "Sweetheart…?" "You want it? It’s yours." "There’s a huge space between us, and it just keeps filling up with everything we don’t say to each other." "Option A: You talk, we listen, no pain. Option B: You don’t talk, I remove your thumbs with my pliers, it will hurt. Option C: I like to vary the details a bit but the punchline is…you die." "Can I have a soda or a juice or…" "Ok, that was a nice shot." "What? You’re looking for a job or something?" "You are the job." "They’re bulletproof!" "We’ll talk about this later." "You saying you had your ass handed to you by some girl?" "You really expect me to roll over and play dead?" "Well, you should be used to it after five years of marriage." "Come to daddy." "Who’s your daddy now?" "We should so not be allowed to buy these." "On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate the happiness of your marriage?" "Tempting but I don’t get out of bed for less than half a million dollars." "I realise you witnessed the Mrs. and I working through a few domestic issues." "That’s regrettable but don’t take that to be a sign of weakness, that would be a mistake on your part." "Maybe it’s not such a good idea to undermine me in front of the hostage - sends a mixed message." "Mistake on your part." "Baby, you couldn’t find the button with both hands and a map."

his friendly banter is taken with caution as blue hues continue to stay fixated on his gaze, brows furrowing closer together. moments ago they all had weapons drawn and anna had silently been calculating how she might be able to make it out of this mess and now he had a smile on his face. her eyes flicker around the room, scanning the faces of those that surrounded her seeing an unwelcoming gaze on almost every face she meets -- except for his.
❛ wouldn't i have called for numbers if i had 'em? i'm fuckin' alone. ❜

He lets out a small sigh of relief, really not looking for any opportunities for violence. As the woman lowers her gun, Rick does the same, placing it back into his holster — hand resting casually on the hilt just in case. “There,” he says simply, eyebrows raised up slightly, “see? No one needs to shoot anyone here today,” he adds with a small smile tugging at a corner of his mouth. He can appreciate the woman’s survival skills; she must be strong to be out here on her own — sure, there’s likely more to the story, but she certainly seems like the tough type. “You just out here on your own?” He figures he may as well clarify, just to clear the risk of any group she may be with lingering close by.

blue hues stare him down as anger slowly begins to take hold and flicker behind the colors. he seems adamant on keeping his weapon aimed at her, and anna can't entirely blame him. people tended to be more dangerous in this world than the walking dead that surrounded them. a hushed sigh escapes through her lips as she drops her gaze to the floor for a moment before lifting it back up to meet his.
❛ if i wasn't alone, ya think whoever i was with would'a let you sit here for this long with a gun pointed at me? ❜
❛ i don’t think you want to find out. ❜
no, no, ira does stand firm; don’t get him wrong. his eyes are ablaze with an integral fury, as they have always been, & though there is a jar on his hands, it might be solely to the fact that he is still wounded from WITHDRAWAL. then again, ira definitely would prefer not to piss this woman off. she seems to understand her own strength in a far more refined way than he.
❛ ———— are you alone? ❜

He hardly hears the words at first, having been enjoying the comfortable silence that’s stretched between them for a few minutes now. He almost felt as though he were drifting somewhere between sleep and consciousness when Anna started to speak. His brows knit together in confusion almost as the words begin to actually register. "What d’ya mean by that?" He looks at her, sitting up a little to see her better, her head still resting comfortably against his chest. He knows this could be going down a path he’s not sure he’s ready for, but his reply is meant to reflect some kind of openness to giving it a try. He isn’t sure what to really say — if she means to go back in time…well, he was married then, had a family; he’s not so sure he can give her the honest answer she wants to hear, but in his mind? None of that matters. The fact is that they can’t go back. The fact is that they’re here now and that’s what matters.
immediately she finds herself regretting ever saying anything in the first place. a fleeting moment of sentiment had forced the words from her lips without even a moment of thought. silence hangs once more around them, heavier than before and she knows that it is by her own careless tongue and a brief moment of weakness. anna's heart skips a beat inside of her chest as she slowly shuts her eyes, leaving her head resting against his chest. she can hear his own heart beating from within and the unsteadiness of it's rhythm gives anna the notion that she had asked a question far too soon. their lives before all of this didn't matter and it was uncharacteristic of her to think about the could have been's in a life lost to decaying carcasses.
blue hues lift to meet his gaze, making sure to stay quiet for just a moment with lips flattened into a straight line as she studied his face. there were so many things kept from one another; she could see it in his eyes and she knew that he could see it in hers but up until this point -- neither had tried to pry. so why had she? a soft intake of breath slips into her nostrils as a slight smile appears on her face -- forced and unconvincing -- as she shakes her head.
❛ nothin', just forget i said anythin'. ❜

her jaw muscles tighten as she stares in his general direction, hoping that the daggers she throws are getting her point across. anna didn't fair well when it came to people, especially now in a word gone to shit. no one could be trusted, ulterior motives seemed to be the only thing driving people to hold onto what little humanity they had left - simply because it could help them gain something. and this man had stumbled into her camp that she'd claimed and forced her hand into sharing it. anna disliked him; but not to the point she'd either attempt to force him out or leave on her own for either of them to try to handle the hoard of walkers on their own. she leans her head back to rest against the wall, eyes shutting slowly as a forced exhale slips from her lips.
❛ yeah, not a chance -- you're stuck with me till they're gone. ❜
She said it — all he feels he can do is let out a heavy sigh. He doesn’t exactly love the idea of being stuck in this place with this woman, but what choice did they have? Travis isn’t so sure how well they’ll fair considering she already seems to be annoyed by just about everything he does. But if they want to survive, he’s hoping she can get over that. He turns his head to look back at her when he feels her gaze obviously on him, huffing out a breathy laugh at her words. "Got that about right," he nods, leaning back against the wall behind them, “But we should be alright in here — unless you’d rather try your luck with all them out there.”

“I guess that’s what happens in the end, you start thinking about the beginning.”

anna had been pushed to her breaking point, tired of everything that had lead up to this point and all she wanted to do was forget about it and move on. but this man had other plans. reminiscing on his past, long since gone. lingering on such things never did anyone any good -- especially her. the woman lowers her head and shuts her eyes as a frustrated sigh slips from between her lips.
❛ probably best if you don't think 'bout that shit now. it doesn't matter anymore. ❜

"That’s regrettable but don’t take that to be a sign of weakness, that would be a mistake on your part."

the bitter taste of anger leaves a lingering taste on her tongue as she listens to his calmly stated words. what anna had done had been a weakness; a blatant show of it as well and it had left her vulnerable to attack. jaw muscles clench tightly as her hands bound into fists at her side, ready to strike at whomever might look at her wrong. blue hues lift quickly to look him straight in the eyes, brows furrowing in irritation.
❛ don't try ta fuckin' baby me. it was a fuckin' weak moment and it almost got us killed. ❜
