the most atsmopherically potent moment in maybe all of gw2 story for me when aurene and kralkatorrik blast each other at the same time and the impact throws you and you black out, and as you drift in and out of consciousness this is the ominous visual youre left with at the start of the aftermath – kralkatorrik, still concerningly alive and immense, with one eerily glowing, busted-open, geode-like eye. and youre like wheres aurene.

Physical therapy is wild because they're always like "hey do this weird little movement" and you're like "hmm my brain doesn't seem to know how to activate that movement" and then they'll like trick your brain into doing it by making you do other movements first or making you resist against them moving you or some shit and your brain is like oooooh ✅ new movement unlocked. And then they tell you to do that movement 20 times a day and you do and it makes some part of your body you didn't even know was related hurt less. What the fuck.

it's kind of sad that we don't really do custom ringtones anymore. most people just stick with the default list that comes with your phone, if they change it at all. if they're even aware they can change it at all. like yeah, people letting their phones ring in public is obnoxious, but wouldn't it be a little less obnoxious if it was something funny? or personal? people used to change the text tone of every contact so every time they got a text they knew who it was just from the sound. isn't that sweet? isn't that nice? don't you miss it? don't you want to scream when you hear that stupid apple pa-Ting!??? we could have a chorus of awoogas and clips of people's favorite songs and recordings saying '(blank) IS CALLING, WARNING, (blank) IS CALLING' and all things considered i would prefer that over pa-Ting!, pa-Ting!, pa-Ting!, whistle whistle, pa-Ting!

anyway im going to change my ringtone to the oldschool skype call sound and nobody will ever hear it because my phone is always on silent but i'll know. i'll know

Putting this out there in case it's helpful, since I didn't know about this until my doctor pointed it out to me after several years of writing up medical certificates every few months for me so I could remain exempt from Jobseeker Support obligations while I was on it, because my condition left me barely able to function at home, let alone manage even part time work:

If you have a long term condition that has been going on for more than two years, prevents you from working, and you've been on Jobseekers the whole time, you may qualify to switch to the Supported Living Payment, which doesn't have the same looking-for-work obligations as Jobseekers, and only has to be reapplied for every two years. It stacks with Disability payments too. (At least, this was all true when I went on it.)

You can even get exemptions from the two year reapplication for certain permanent conditions, though of course our current government is being as shitty about that as possible.

Hope this is helpful to someone, since this is the kind of stuff they don't tell you exists unless you know know to ask in the first place, because god forbid WINZ actually volunteer support information voluntarily.

I love the dynamic in the Discworld fandom on this site, I think it's mainly because there are a lot of dormant fans, if you will, who've read and loved the books for years but haven't engaged much recently, who sort of reappear whenever a fun post is doing the rounds. It's fantastic. We get the cozy small fandom vibe without the screaming matches, but also get the popular posts from time to time, y'know?

I got a laptop with Windows 11 for an IT course so I can get certified, and doing the first time device set-up for it made me want to commit unspeakable violence

Windows 11 should not exist, no one should use it for any reason, it puts ads in the file explorer and has made it so file searches are also web searches and this cannot be turned off except through registry editing. Whoever is responsible for those decisions should be killed, full stop.

Switch to linux, it's free and it's good.
