I love VRAINS. VRAINS is the best YGO and nothing will change my mind. It's the most solid of all the series' as far as its' messaging and theming goes, it doesn't suffer from horrid character bloat, and to a degree does try to give every character a motive to follow through on. Sure, some things get lost in translation or maybe weren't expounded upon as much as they could've been, but imo that's just room for fans to move in and do what they want with it--it's a feature, not a bug, and it comes with the territory of being part of YGO media (this has always been a feature of YGO media). It has the most realistic and painfully accurate depiction of PTSD in all its' forms when compared to the rest of the series, which usually sweeps horrid trauma suffered by the characters under the proverbial rug in favor of plot. but the thing is, in VRAINS, the trauma IS the plot. baked into it, compared to the other series, where we witness the horrid things happening to the cast in real time. in VRAINS, the horrid thing has already happened and the repercussions of it are explored. the person who started and caused all of it haunts the narrative in sometimes unexpected ways. this sets it apart from the other series in this very specific way, and breaks the mold like no other before or after it (as far as I can tell; I've watched DM, GX, and 5D's but I've heard from others and they can concur with me on this) Idk I just fucking love VRAINS and no amount of braindead, missing the point entirely and not understanding anything at all takes on this hellsite will take the joy I get from it from me or anyone else who truly loves it
