Buying Glasses Online: The Best Decision Ever
Hi Lovies,
I know it has been a while. A lot has happened over the last month, so I thought I’d catch you up.
To start, I’m the biggest klutz ever. About two weeks ago, the day I usually post I woke up, put on my specs and click. Every glasses wearer’s nightmare, the frame cracked beyond repair. I have a habit of sleeping in my glasses and then taking them off in the middle of the night. Not a good habit ladies and gents.
Well, I didn’t want to go to the eye glasses store because of the inflated prices for frames, so I did what I usually do search online. I was looking for next day delivery glasses and found them on one site called Express Glasses. I purchased a pair from there on a Wednesday and they had it shipped out to me on Friday. I had glasses for the weekend, yes!
Anyone who knows, knows I didn’t leave anything to chance because I had never order from them before, and never go anywhere without my glasses. They are my favorite accessory, so I went back to my favorite site, EyeBuy Direct. I can get more than one pair of glasses from them for a decent price, so I ordered the Sweet Janet Frames. Now I have a backup and regular pair of glasses.
Here’s my review on the two sites:
Express Glasses:

Pros:
Super quick delivery (1-2 days depending on time ordered, location and type of glasses)
Free shipping on all orders over $50
Quick email responses
You can search for glasses by size in Millimeters
Buy one get one free on frames (of equal of lesser value)
Cons:
Limited on the glasses selection
No way to see how the glasses may look on you before you buy them
Not able to search for glasses by your prescription
Frames start at $24.99
Eyebuy Direct

Pros:
Frames start at $6! Yep you heard me correctly.
BOGO offer on Frames
You can search for the right frames for your prescription by uploading your prescription in your account.
You can upload a photo of yourself and they help you align it, so that you can try on glasses virtually.
They email you every stage of the process that your glasses are in BEFORE they ship (you can opt-out if you want)
You get a glasses screwdriver with your pair of Sweet Janets. (I could always use another seeing how often I lose them)
Shipping is free for orders over $99
Cons:
They say the process can take up to 20 business days; however, my order only took 10 business days and I like how they fit me a lot better.

Let that wagging finger be a reminder to stop sleeping in your glasses or get some cute ones like these. That will last you a while.
If I had to do it over again, I would be patient and go with Eyebuy Direct because I know it would be a pair of glasses I’d look good in.
Use code IF5ZT4FR5N at checkout on Eyebuy Direct to save 15% on your first purchase.
Xoxo,

Balancing Act: Take 1
I meant to write this on Tuesday for you lovies, but life got the best of me. Ever feel like you are drowning in your mistakes and can’t seem to see to the surface? Well, that has been me. I’m 70% sure that I know where I want to be, but the other 30 feels like it is 90% of my thoughts lately. Here’s what I have been trying to do to stop myself from wallowing in misery. I figured I’d pass on the knowledge. 5 things that I do right now to balance myself:
1. Keep busy - yes this sounds obvious, but too often we find free time when we are down and that is when we start getting down on ourselves. One day turns into two and next thing you know a week has gone by and you have let important tasks fall by the way side.
2. Take a walk - just think about how long you have spent at the computer and force yourself to walk for 10 minutes. Trust me, it will help you clear your head and get your thoughts in order. You won’t sit there looking at your overcrowded desk covered with mini snickers and milk ways. Plus, vitamin D is good for fighting depression.
3. Call a friend - It’s easy to get caught up in your world and forget about everyone else when you are down. Just auto dial (I know you don’t know their number by heart, let’s keep it real) someone you haven’t talked to in a while, whose conversations you enjoyed in the past. Together, you’ll brighten each other’s mood by laughing.
4. Listen to Music - There are some weeks I will turn into a jackass because I didn’t bother to turn on the radio. I just let my thoughts make me cranky. Now I plug in my DEO.S Aqua Earphone covers and earphones and follow step 2. Life is hard and music was created to be enjoyed and make you laugh, cry, smile, just make you feel good. Sing with your favorite song and see how much lighter you feel. My jam right now is Missy’s new joint “WTF.”
5. Take a nap - I must admit I have been slacking on this one, but it is something I value now. As a kid, we hated taking naps, always had to have our ear to the ground and know what was going on. Well, now you can just go through a timeline and get caught up, so enjoy that nap. It will stop you from being so irritable.
Until next time, keep it 100

Solutions not Resolutions
It’s January 5th and most of us have begun our resolutions. There are the stereotypical lose weight resolution folks and the “I want a new career” peeps, etc. I have refused to set resolutions for the past few years because like many, I don’t stick to them. What I am doing differently is just finishing what I started from the previous year. I have been doing this since before the new year, so it’s not a resolution to me.
Over Christmas, I had done my usual check out Amazon for deals routine and found out about their Audible app. Where has it been all my life? Here’s the low down of it. You get a 30 day trial with a free audiobook, 90 days for Amazon Prime members, after the first 30 days you can receive an audiobook with your subscription of $14.95/mo and can order additional books at 30% off. You also get a free subscription to The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal. And you can save up to 6 credits at a time before you have to use them.
For anyone who is like me and does a lot, but still would like to learn something new this is a great way to satisfy that craving. I just finished listening to the book:
Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office: Unconscious Mistakes Women Make That Sabotage Their Careers (A NICE GIRLS Book)
It has been on my list for a while now. I was tired of seeing it in my wish list on Amazon, so it was my first Audiobook. I must say that it was well worth my time to listen. Dr. Frankel talks about how you can limit yourself by having the tramp tattoos. If you are going to get them you have to live with the consequences of having them in the work place. If you feel the need to get tattoos and work in corporate America, you should get it in a place that can be covered. Especially, if you want to be taken seriously. Personally, I don’t like needles, so I would never get one.
She has plenty of great advice about clothing as well. The best advice I heard in the audio was that if you wear your hair/clothing at the club on Saturday you should do the complete opposite at work. It’s funny that you have to even say this, but I’ve seen my share of short shorts and minis in a office that scream pay attention to me. And when it comes to hair, longer hair can make you look older and accentuate features you want to hide while short hair makes you look younger. And if you don’t want to cut your hair, wearing it up can give you a nice polished look. Let’s face it the corporate world has standards and if you want to get what you want you have to conform. There are always exceptions, but look around your office and see how many people are dressed similarly who are successful.
She also made a good point about casual Fridays. When we dress casually we act as if the weekend has already begun and productivity decreases. I was guilty of this one because I would be thinking about the weekend the entire time I was at work. How many of you are guilty of this?
Additionally, she talked about how women sell themselves short when they introduce themselves at networking events. We make what we do not seem like a big deal. I’ve been guilty of this one, too. I love what I do, but sometimes I allow my upbringing of being shy and humble to stop me from talking about how much what I do rocks. I have the freedom to work where I can find internet access and am using more of talents other than my empathy skills (which most women have naturally anyway).
If you don’t have that option yet and need to feel powerful, sit next to the person in the company meeting who has the most power, so that it permeates onto you. It also shows that you are not afraid of power if you sit next to them and do not allow the seat to be empty. This may be a small step to showing that you are capable of taking over a position, if the higher ups are looking at you.
Trust me there is even more great advice in this book that you do not want to miss. Check it out...

Hello Wanderer
There are days when I can write for days about all the crazy ideas that are going on in head and then there are days like today, where I am quiet. I guess when you are an introvert it doesn’t matter the setting that you are in. Online or in person, you just find yourself being as reserved as always. A lot has been on my mind and I have been trying to figure out my path.
Over a month ago, I decided that I was going to get my Master’s degree. In my family that is a big deal because my parents both have Master Degrees. For a while, I felt like a wanderer trying out new things and never quite finding where I fit. The irony of it all is that all that wandering lead me back to where I began after college. I wanted to get into Costume Design and kept hoping I would get my sewing machine, when I graduated to confirm that I was on the right path.
Silly, I know. For me it wasn’t. I had already switched my major when I was in college from Political Science to Theater, so I was off the plan I had when I first entered. Everyone kept saying it was normal, but for me it wasn’t. I always had a plan and a back up plan, but that curve in my journey threw me off. I forgot to plan for the future and have plan B, C & D; however, it helped me discover that I was not allowing myself to be a free spirit and that “detour” was what pushed me to open up and explore new things.
Now I sit here at 1:57 am in the morning, writing about how much I have changed and yet I still feel like the same frighten girl who is scared to take a chance. All those questions run in the back of my mind. Am I going to make it? Is this the right choice for me? One thing is for sure, I learned that I can’t expect someone to tell me what is right or wrong for me because no one knows me like I know myself.
As I go on about the next phase in my life, I want to leave my followers with this one thought,
“We are the antagonist of our own success” - Ashley Strickland
I have been saying this for years and even have it as a signature in my emails, but this is the first time that I have really taken a step back to think about the statement and share it with others. You are your worse enemy with it comes to how successful you will be. When you wonder if you are where you want to be ask yourself if you did everything you could today to get you to where you want to be. I hope that next time you read my post that statement would have lit a fire under you or kept you moving forward.
