The Book Store

I was out taking photos last July and stumbled upon this tucked away book store, that had this lovely sunlight hitting its stairwell, so I tried capturing a few photos.

The owner noticed me taking photos and leaned out of the second story window to ask what I was taking pictures of and when I explained he wanted to know if I got his hand painted sign in the photo.

I was having a hard time hearing him so I climbed the stairs to his book store and chatted with him for a bit, he asked about my photography and life for awhile and then I asked him if he’d be alright with me taking some photos of him because the light coming in through the window was so perfect and he said that was fine but didn’t want to look at the camera so I told him he could do whatever made him comfortable.

This day resulted in my favorite photos to date.

renaissance in the 21st century

I was recently browsing FB marketplace for a new camera and stumbled upon a listing with no mention of cameras in the post title or description.

The title just said make an offer, so I decided to check it out on a whim. Low and behold there’s a Nikon FM2N pictured in the third photo. So I message the guy to see if it’s still available and if he’d take $60.

He said yes and my life is complete. I lived happily ever after with the Nikon FM2N.

The Pentax P30T is fairly basic as far as film cameras come, with no exposure compensation dial and no ISO dial but honestly it’s been a really, really enjoyable experience.

The plastic build is incredibly sturdy and has a very premium feeling, the viewfinder is quite bright and contrasty making it easy to focus, and the Pentax and Ricoh lenses are super sharp.

Would definitely recommend picking up one of these cameras if you ever come across one.
