I hate most fight scenes in books or movies, or whatever. They're so soulless. Just a quick scene the writers added in. It's for fun. It's for attracting more viewers who love action and adrenaline, and the awesome jabs or bickering between characters as they slice an arm off their enemy or step on another body.
In my opinion, everything in a book or movie is equally important. Every glance. Every wave. Every dialogue or monologue. Every word. Yes, that even includes fighting scenes.
Hell! Fighting scenes ARE the most IMPORTANT! Your characters are pumped with adrenaline, alarmed and ready to kick ass - AND YOU DONT EVEN WRITE ABOUT THE FACT THAT our MC protects someone else? How our MC completely disregards all their friends in the midst of battle? How our MC constanly gets injured but doesn't react bc they're are used to it? How our MC moves with urgency - constantly looking over their shoulder and watching with bated breathe their love interest???
Fighting scenes truly bring out your character's, not only skills like fighting with an axe or sword, but also their invidual motives. Their lives. Their most important values and flaws.
Fighting scenes ARE important. Use everything you know about a character to make them shine in a way a simple dialogue wouldn't be able to.

I love when ppl draw Tabi and Evbo in pvpciv art cus it's always Tabi looking like an armored up, terrifyingly elegant goddess of combat and Evbo's just the most itty bitty wet dog sad puppy autistic creature you've ever seen
#real as hell#pvp civilization#Bro is speaking facts of the highest caliber#pvpciv tabi#pvpciv evbo#Evbo is the worst looking puppy ever. Like#Evbo reminds me of that one dog from the second Puss in Boots movie#Literally#Too skrunkly to not adore#but also too dirty (even if he likes taking baths in pools) to even try to touch

Now that I started thinking about the idea...
I want Fierre and Parrot, and whatever other 'good' guys to look absolutely wrecked. Like, Parrot's wings are burned and his feathers are horrible to look at.
Fierre wears armour to hide the many burns and scars on his body. His hair is short and clamped, and he looks like a dead man walking. His hands are rough and he looks like a giant when speaking to Evbo.
I want the stereotype that good guys need to look good to be liked by people to disappear so we can have some unexpected and very (in my opinion) creative character designs.
Every fanart I see of Tabi makes her 'attractive' or 'pretty'. Everyone just seems to agree that she's 1. girlboss and 2. amazingly pretty (bc she's a girlboss and we love that)
But why?
Tabi is a trained fighter. A manipulator. A traitor through-and-through.
She's evil. She's a backstabber. Her hair is matted and her hands are scuffed. Her skin should be littered with scars and bruises from fights she has certainly won.
I actually really like to answer this question with "Because it's from Evbo's pov." He sees her as a saviour, a friend and more of an angel rather than anything else.
Demons try to attract humans by making themselves perfect. To make themselves too beautiful to look away. And Tabi is a devil in dinguise.
Tabi's perfect and beautiful, and you wouldn't be able to see a single scar because Evbo thinks she's an angel from above.

Everyone's been so sad nowadays (me too. I cannot handle the finale of Pvp Civilization), so I decided to write a little smth to cure my pain.
It's mostly hurt/comfort and it's Tabi & Evbo, so hopefully it'll suit one of your tastes. :D

I think that the idea that Evbo literally chokes on food because he can't. stop. talking. is absolutely hilarious. I can imagine everyone kinda looking at him like "You good, bruh?" as he starts coughing.
On a more colder (angstier) note; you made me realize that Evbo literally does NOTHING for the whole arc of the farming. He's revived, hits the armour stand, walks to his bloody cell again and then gets killed for someone else's life.
And the cycle goes on and on.
Which means that Evbo probably doesn't need to eat at all. He only needs to walk to his cell, which I don't think would lower the hunger bar enough for him to die of starvation.
And if he doesn't need anything to keep him alive, then he doesn't get anything.
So, just imagine, constantly being killed over and over again and not even getting raw steak or whatever other option of food there is. Constantly getting used, but never truly given anything of use to you.
The only times Evbo probably gets food is perhaps in the Gold Layer while fighting with Fray (one of the diamond swords). But even that is a speculation, otherwise known as a theory.
Mostly because we know that the Gold Layer doesn't have a Pvp Marketplace or any other objects, like houses or mansions, in it. And (I don't remember exactly) the plunge to the Gold Layer, like the room behind the red gate, has nothing either.
So he's absolutely tired, helpless and probably starving. Not starving physically. No. Evbo does not need any food. But starving mentally.
His body probably gives the feeling of being hungry even when he doesn't need food. His body growls and reaches for any food near him. Because while the taste is bad- it's still something normal.
Something to cling to because he is human.
(Except Evbo's stopped being treated like a human the moment he became known as The Chosen One.)
Now that I started thinking about Evbo's monologuing...
Does Evbo talk ALL THE TIME? Is it only when he is stressed? Or when he's afraid? Perhaps when he's happy? Or sad?
Does Evbo mutter when he's trying to be stealthy? Does the kid shout wildly and loudly when he's fighting, speaking his opponent's every move? Does Evbo's voice shake when he gets hurt?
When he was used as the ultimate revival tool- fighters killing him without so much as a doubt- did his voice shake as he spoke how they approached him in that bloodied and dark room? How they swung and hit with their iron swords?
Did he try to stop himself from speaking, but it's become such a habit.. An instinct. For him that he couldn't stop even as he tried over and over again to clench his jaw and stop his mouth from moving as pain erupted once more?
Did his lips become bruised and bloodied as people got more and more annoyed at the fact that this stupid tool they use daily keeps talking? Did they plunge their swords right through his tongue, gouging and slashing at it every once in a while to stop him from muttering their every movement?
Did Evbo ever stop talking in that cell?

also to bounce off my last pvp civ post, and maybe i am just thinking too hard about it, but here are the three commentaries i took away from it:
in order to succeed and truly reach the "top" within society, you will never be innocent. living lavishly and wealthily will always exist simultaneously with the fact that you harmed people to get here. the swords that you collect from wins are LITERAL BLOOD MONEY
there are adults out there that will exploit the vulnerable, especially children.
morality and values stem from the society and community you live in. yes, there are inherent human urges to care and empathize with others (as shown with parrot, evbo, and tabi (though i'm scared she might be a traitor)), but you still act on the values and morals you were raised in, whether that be deemed "good" or "bad".
#pvp civilization#Literally wrote everything I have been thinking on since I started watching Pvp Civ#Such nicely formulated ideas so I just had to repost#pvp evbo

Does anyone else wonder why exactly everyone in Pvp Civilization can't just break out?
Like, all we see are these giant boxes built to house fighters- from simple flats to literal mansions- and yet, nobody. Not even Evbo, who is somehow so naive and innocently stupid that he seems like the perfect person to do it, has tried to just... break the stone blocks?
I'm not sure if it was mentioned why in the series, but it got me thinking (and my insomnia sure isn't helping) why nobody would try to break out if they didn't enjoy killing and the whole prospect of fighting to save yourself (mostly to extend your life) in a giant box.
Is it because they're in peaceful mode? Is it because their swords can only swing in the air and not get any of the stones to even reveal some sort of crack? Is it because the world is just that- a big as hell box in the void?
Or did people simply stop caring about trying to solve such problems? You know, when people have heard so many tales of one fighter or the other, trying to break free from this ever-lasting system, and instanly getting caught by the guards and dragged away so players don't even try to escape anymore.
Perhaps they hear rumors, whispered in cold rooms behind shut doors, about fighters who have tried to dig, practically crawl out of Pvp Civilization and simply... vanished. Never to be seen again.
I might have to rewatch Pvp Civilization, but I don't think Evbo ever mentioned it. Like, at least in Parkour Civilization- we get some kind of border, a sky and blocks of grass. But Pvp Civilization takes place in a dark, mysterious and cold (freakishly big) geometric shape made of squares and boxes.
Idk, I like the idea. Might write a fic about it because Pvp Civilization seamlessly dragged itself straight to the front of my (mostly) working brain.

Do you think Tabi knew what was happening? Could she hear it? Faint through walls of brick and stone, muffled voices, something that sounded like a scream but it came so often that that couldn't be it. When the few times the door opened and she was given food could she hear what they were saying, "this is what a hero does. You're the Chosen One. You're saving us" followed by something that was barely even a scream anymore, instead the sound of a sword and some cut off gurgle. Did she realize that there was only one possible person who it could be in there? That could return and do it all over again? Did she deny it at first? And when Evbo finally got her, covered in a million cuts and scars, bags under his eyes, what did she think? What could she think? What could she say? Nothing. Nothing would make up for what he's done for her. So the best she can do is pretend like this is normal, and follow him.

Evbo (PvpCiv) is an incredibly lonely individual.
We mainly undestand that because he's constantly looking for anyone who would be willing to be his friend. Hell, not even his friend, just a person who he can talk to.
I think one of the main characteristic that proves this isn't how he interacts or communicates with other people.
Instead, it's how he looks and understands what materialistic things mean. Evbo constantly buys and buys. Hell, he even died from buying too many materialistic things.
He buys constantly and whenever he's even presented with a choice. Now, for some, it might just be a silly little funny habit or trait that Evbo (the youtuber) made him have for laughs and giggles.
And while it is incredibly funny even for me at times (as a quite serious person), I also think that Evbo (the youtuber) mainly wanted us to understand that Pvp!Evbo is unfortunately so alone that even the simplest materialistic things to him are like gold.
(Taken straight from Google since I started looking why people buy materiaslistic things) - Many individuals associate material things with elements like happiness, comfort, relief from problems, success, social status, and pleasure, consequently holding the conviction that pursuing these possessions will lead to a happier and more satisfying life.
Evbo crafted Pvp!Evbo as the most saddest, depressing, angsty, absolutely lonely kid ever. In every interaction, in every monologue, in every movement, in every characteristic trait and habit.
