“There is no need to thank me.” She thinks if their roles were reversed, Jai would be here for her, too. She can’t even begin to imagine what he’s going through. It happened in this room, too. Sometimes, Nur thinks Cyrus’s ghost is around. She didn’t know him beyond being Jai’s boyfriend. “I hope a good game of darts is providing some distraction?” she asks, with a gentle smile. “Or maybe you’ll put more than one in the middle. You just need to get used to it.”
“fine. i’ll take back my thank you,” he responded, making the mimic of grabbing something right in front of his mouth and putting it inside his pocket. he grinned. “you know, it kind of is. i doubt it’s the darts though. i missed company.” he had pretty much closed himself for the past month or so, left everyone out. he missed quality time. “i barely see zane anymore, though.” and he felt that personal, but he wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t want to be around him at the moment. it was hard to live with himself, he could imagine what it would be like for others.

“Yeah, but it’s not that bad. Only about 18 hours from Los Angeles,” she told him, shrugging her shoulders in nonchalance. She had done it so many times that it was second nature to her to enjoy longer flights. Maia looked down at her, smiling a little wider. “You should see Rafa,” she said, laughing. “He has freckles.”Â
“that’s bad enough for me– we’re what? five hours away from la?” he had heard about that one at least. he felt his legs wobbly to just think about that. “i hope you at least make proper use of your time.” he was of course, talking about joining the mile high club. he figured those flights were pretty useful for that. “cute. he must look like a disney princess now.”

Carmen perked up when she saw that her offer had seemed to do some good. She wasn’t good with words and she wasn’t too good with grief but she could cook and even if it made him feel better for just a moment that was something. “Okay okay. Just gimme a couple days to get everything together and we’ll have it on Sunday, like tradition. I can make enough for the whole dorm if you want.”
“i mean, we could. i’m not sure if they will like it, but i’ll eat it if they don’t. can you teach me how to make it too? is it like a secret recipe?”

“honestly, i can’t believe you put on my face that fast.” he’s a miracle worker to say the least. “thank you, seriously. for taking the time for this.” ( @jaimitchell )
“it’s what i do best, please.” he grins. he’s no professional mua, but he can beat a face in no time, and make it look quite flawless. it was easier than his own face. he can’t help but to feel a little bit of an itch in his stomach about memories of doing cyrus’ makeup before parties, but he quickly puts it away in the heart-shaped safe box with his name in his brain. “no problem. plus, it would not have been possible without you,” and her christmas present for him. “i’ve got no money for a gift, sadly, so please take it as a humble gift. that, and... you can wear any of my necklaces and earrings for the rest of the year.

austinpark:
Austin pretended to consider his previous statement before he fired back, “Honestly, who doesn’t sometimes?” He sometimes did exactly that before remembering that he had a calculator on hand in some fashion. “I’m serious though. People are intelligent in their own ways.” Everyone brought something to the table, whether it was traditional booksmarts or something outside the norm yet still within the realms of intelligence types. It was something Austin loved about the human race as nerdy as it sounded.
“i mean... i guess. i just never really felt actually smart, but i mean, i’ve made it all the way to twenty five,” and with a lot of bumps along the way, if he could add, “so i guess i have to have some redeeming quality.”

“That’s an actual question, it’ll be helpful for me to know where we’re starting.” Starting at square one required a very different approach than someone who was a few rungs up the ladder. “Do you not do well because you don’t try or because you don’t know how?”
“do you want to hear the words my dad would use?” he paused. “i’m too much of a pansy to throw a punch.” he rolled his eyes. “i want to try. i’ve been training, sort of. there’s some muscle, but i’ve got no coordination with my entire body. it’s either my hands throw punches or my legs move. and well, i don’t exactly condone violence, either, so i don’t like it.”

“It’s nice enough.” Maire shrugs because obviously there’s a part of her that would have rather been with her parents in New York but now she just weirdly felt like she was always third wheeling her own family. “I’ve never been to New Orleans.” She says more as something conversational. “What are the top places you’d like to visit that you’ve never seen before?”Â
“i was there back in thanksgiving, but it was too short to see anything. i got to see a little more this time around.” he smiles softly. he’s trying his best to push the bad things away. “oh, god. i have a list. i want to go to disneyland.” he laughs at his own answer. “hollywood for sure. panama sounds lit with the jungle and stuff. i want to go everywhere, don’t you?”

he looks up from his bowl, meeting jai’s gaze once, just to check if he’s on anything, before taking another spoonful. “ yeah? things must be pretty fuckin’ shit if you’re here, ” he drawls lazily. surely he has better options – tigs isn’t exactly known for having the warmest of thoughts. “ lovely weather. ”
“you have no fucking clue.” he exhales as he gets comfortable and starts eating all lazily. today was a bad day, and nothing or nobody could actually make it better, so it wasn’t like tigs had too much to do. “you’d be surprised. it’s kinda chilly. wouldn’t be too shocked if it snowed.”

zanecosh:
“They’re the sweetest ever.” Zane was just such a family person. Well, people person to be exact. There was nothing more that he liked than having a connection with someone. It didn’t even need to be physical, even if he was a fan of that just as much. But just being able to talk about things, knowing someone trusted you. And he felt like, despite not doing anything on purpose, he had exploited Jai’s trust – someone he bonded with so much during difficult times and now even though the other didn’t know about it, he felt like he did him so wrong and he felt fucking awful because of it. “You know, those kids at lemonade stands people thirst for so much. Not the kids, the lemonade.” It wasn’t necessary to clarify it but he still did it anyway. He shuffled close to him, head slightly resting against his chest as he glanced up at the top bunk, wondering what that one weird stain was but then he remembered that one time he spilled his cheeto smoothie in his bed. “ – What would you do if it was someone’s doing ? ” Jai might have to return to what he was doing during his winter break because Zane was clearly digging himself a grave.
“well, one day i’ll tag along. they’ll hear about the handsome guy you won’t stop gushing about.” he smiled, batting his eyelashes because of course, he was speaking about himself. he missed the whole family thing, he felt glad to have people close to him that felt like his siblings, even if all he had wanted at first was to push them away. just now he was actually letting himself need them. he rolls his eyes. “you’re crazy. i’m not as good as lemonade, but you know what, i’ll take it for today. i need the lift me up.” he said, allowing himself to fully cuddle with his friend, feel the comfort of a warm pair of arms surrounding him. “what do you mean?” he opened his eyes, looking down at zane for a moment there. “like he was killed?” he quirked an eyebrow then scoffed. “everyone loved him too much for that. he wasn’t in any trouble, he didn’t mess around anyone or anything– i would have known,” he liked to think they told each other everything. “it is weird, though. i don’t remember him being allergic to any sort of... tea or drink. not to that point.” he rubs his eyes. “i feel like i’ll never actually know, until like... i die myself and i get to ask him.” he sighs again, now he can’t shake it out of his head. “i feel like sutton would know, right? she wouldn’t cover for it. if someone... if somebody did it.” he was putting his entire trust on her, because he couldn’t hold on to anything else right now, and starting to find a guilty name would actually drive him insane.

emir knew what had happened to jai, and he tried his best to make sure his friend stayed happy. that meant spending a little extra time with him. he also knew that happy people exercised, so he tried to get him to the gym with him as much as he could. he looked up at the question, suddenly interested. “how much do you weigh?”
“i don’t know– what kind of question is that after the holidays? that’s kinda rude, man.” he teased, pretending to be offended for a second there. “like 145? 150 tops?” he shifted his weight to his opposite leg. “are you up for the challenge or not?”

“you didn’t know i sold?” he quirks a brow, confused. as far as he knew, he was the only plug on campus. whoever else sold to jai would get a very serious talking to ! or just a plea not to come in on his clients. “i can give you a pretty boy discount, if money’s an issue. you pay what i pay for it. deal? just don’t tell anyone else.”
he shook his head. “not really. i’m not exactly allowed to get close to dealers,” he said, careful with his words, showing he didn’t really mean them, but he was a weak man underneath, who would ask for anything if given the right circumstances. which often times were just that he wanted some. “someone would get weed for me.” he smiled softly. “oh, you think i’m pretty enough for a discount?” his smirk widened. “i’ll take the deal. who am i to say no to a compliment?”

“Please, do not apologize over anything.” She can’t even imagine what he’s going through right now and she doesn’t want him feeling bad for anything he might say or do. “You are not being negative.” She gives him a kind smile. “Yes… I am here for you, you know? In whatever capacity you need.” She doesn’t know what to do exactly, but she figures being there as a support system may help, hopefully. He needs time, right? “Another dart. Maybe you will surpass me one of these days.”
“thank you. it does mean a lot.” he smiles. “i honestly just want some distraction,” he admitted, “specially in the room.” he wanted it to feel like home again, because this year he truly loved his roommates (just like the year before) but things were too heavy for him there. he sighs, and gets up with the darts. “yeah, maybe by the end of the year i’ll put one in the middle. but literally, one.”

– “RIGHT, WELL…I DO HAVE FRIENDS,” AYLIN CLARIFIES, because surely she has other people to talk to, “ but thank you for offering. i’m sure you can understand why it’s not the easiest for me to speak to you right now. ” it must be horrible for jai, to walk around like a harbinger of loss. he won’t be able to walk through these halls for quite some time without people thinking of cyrus when they see jai’s face. but it isn’t like feeling sorry for him will bring her friend back. “ you too. ”Â
“right.” he rubbed the back of his neck rather awkwardly. he hoped things wouldn’t be this hard, but they were for her as they were for him. he bit the inside of his cheek and nodded. “of course. i do. i just... i don’t know. i know what you’re going through, i guess. so i...” so he what? wanted to make sure she was alright when she clearly wasn’t? wanted to make sure she wasn’t alone? well, she had more friends than him probably. everything he said sounded stupid. “sorry i bothered.” he smiled softly. “see you around.” he said and with a weak wave, and a lump in his throat he turned on his heels and went back to his room.

“you can try, so good luck.” she smirks, kicking his foot underneath the table. pushing her tongue against her cheek, the blonde looked down at her empty plate wishing there was some food to play with. the ex topic isn’t one she wants to touch, but hell – he still made her blood boil at a mention. “are you comparing me to a leech now?” sky asks, letting out a sigh. “well, for your information, he deserved it.” and he got away before she could knock him out for good, all thanks to the supervisors. fuck that.Â
“i could give you lioness, if that makes you feel better.” he smirks, knowing it won’t, but it’s ten times better than a leech. a hundred times, even. “i’d say vampire, but that’s too mainstream,” he’s fully joking now. “i mean, i don’t doubt it. i just heard it was quite the show. would’ve liked to see it, to be honest.”

“Well both of us are pretty big nerds, so we’re not much help to each other,” Carmen admitted with a light chuckle. Plus she knew that she would never be amazing when it came to bootcamp; it was the one aspect of her schooling where she was okay with being average. “Well then I’ll make you some Birria. It’s a Sunday morning stew,” she explained to him. It was one of those dishes that warmed someone right to their core and maybe that was exactly what Jai needed right now; some good food to cure the soul. “You’ll like it I promise.”
“Oh, my god– I know exactly what that is.” Living in Manhattan will do that to you, know every single kind of food around. Legit chinese and mexican were his top choices, right next to indian, of course, but that was usually homemade. “I could use that so much, Carmen. Please?”

oflaughter:
“Ah” Amado chuckled and nodded. “Taken me a long time to get to this point. I wasn’t always a muscular guy but I wanted to change the way I looked the older I became” he mused. He had never been content with the way he looked when he was in high school. But when he started to work out, that changed and he found confidence. Something he had lacked. “Combat is not for everyone. It’s one of my majors so I am quite used to it” he then smiled when he heard his next words. “At least you know that. That’s a good thing. Most people try to run away from that truth”
“i’ve tried man, but the whole drinking protein shakes and stuff doesn’t really work from me, i don’t know why.” years of drug use, years of starving, and lots of different ways he mistreated his body had left him unable to do much with it, to be fair. he was glad there had been no further damage to his heart or other organs. he was lucky. or that he knew just now. “i’ll just be a twink for the rest of my life.” he had come to accept it. he liked that there was a word for it. he fit there. specially without the facial hair. “oh, i’ve got no issues accepting reality.” at least not when it came to vain things like this. other things took a little more work. “it’s either i accept it, or it bites me in the ass and it’s too pretty to risk it.”

“It’s where my family is, and it only took two days off of travel,” she said, waving her hand as if it wasn’t that big of a deal. It seemed that Maia was just used to traveling across the world so easily. “Actually, it was hot as hell,” she laughed. “Going from a Virginia winter to an Australian summer really threw my body for a loop.”Â
“like... all on a plane?” he had freaked out enough on the flight to and from berlin. he hated it, being trapped in a metal machine in mid air for more than a couple hours. he ended up biting his nails until they hurt. flying across the world to go to australia? while it sounded like a dream, it seemed a little too much for him. “it doesn’t sound like a sacrifice, you even got a tan, look at you.”
