JAYCEES & EARTH DAY MONTH IN THE VALLEY ___________________________________ (Riverpoint Village) As part of their annual Open Space programming which began on April 14th, the Central Rhode Island JAYCEES will continue holding a series of communitywide recycling & beautification events throughout the month of May. The JAYCEES initially coordinated EARTH DAY events with the Friends of the Greenway, the Arctic Village Association, area municipal DPW's & Senior/Community Center's, Scouts & Explorers and numerous volunteers. Included with their EARTH DAY MONTH scheduling, the JAYCEES will be hosting their traditional 'Clean-ups & Green-Ups' programming that features Arbor Day activities and MULCH MUNCHKINS Projects, which demonstrates the proper use and application of mulching plants, tree wells and shrubbery bases. " In addition to cultivating zone-approved flowers and planting a proverbial Arbor Day Tree, the JAYCEES will demonstrate the proper use and application of mulching plants, tree wells and shrubbery bases to retains soil moisture, reduce weed & turf growth, prevents soil temperature extremes and improves the overall soil structure" stated Ron Holloway, Chairman of the Arboretum Project.. That event is set for Saturday, May 05th, 2018 @ 10:Am along the JAYCEE Arboretum in the Riverpoint COMMUNITY Park in W. Warwick, along the Westbay Bikepath - the quadrant at the cities of Cranston & Warwick and towns of W. Warwick & Coventry. Through the awarding of a competitive environmental grant by the RI Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) with funding being provided by Patriot Disposal Co. Inc./J.R. Vinagro Corporation of Johnston and the kind donations of the MULCHRI.COM and the JAYCEE Education & Library Foundation, a full menu of valuable environmental projects and quality community programming with educational components will again be realized. The JAYCEE Arboretum & Roch Riverwalk within the Riverpoint COMMUNITY Park, was the setting for the 23rd annual 9/11 Commemoration.
The RI JAYCEES Alumni, interacting with the West Bay Cadets, Boy Scout Troop 31 of Crompton, Rev. Doug Tourgee of the Riverpoint Advent Christian Church, Poet Damont Combs, Mime Star Amybeth Parravano, RI American Legion Commander Malone, W. Warwick Veterans Council, W. Warwick Fire & Police Departments, DPW & Parks-Recreation Divisions, Rep. Morgan of the RIGA,JAYCEE Arboretum Chairman Ron Holloway, Jaycee Alumni Dwight David Colvin, MC Jack Lancellotta, Town Manager Mark Knott & Councilwoman Maribeth Williamson, Compassionate USA Pres. Vin Marzullo, along with other friends, volunteers and citizens of the Ocean State.

An Arbor ECOLOGY DAY \& PEACE PRAYER CEREMONY will briefly offer A Spiritual Moment to reflect on the tremendous sacrifice that America enjoys in keeping the PEACE ... worldwide!
A Military Honor Guard \& Calling will be conducted with area Clergy, Veterans, Police \& Scouts who would graciously participate with their fellow Americans. ~ We welcome participants and those that want to perform!
Also, public remembrance will take place for the Station Fire Victims in cultivating 100 flowers along the Esplanade of the Arboretum.
~ We welcome Volunteers!
Volunteers can choose to assist the JAYCEES with a variety of horticultural activities such as planting flowers and shrubbery, spreading fresh mulch, watering planting beds and sprucing-up the area of the JAYCEE Corridor \& Arboretum and the portal entrance to the state Senator Donald Roch RIVERWALK at the Riverpoint COMMUNITY Park @ 110 Hay Street in W. Warwick ~ We welcome plant donations!

A public remembrance will take place for the Station Fire Victims in offering 100 flowers in plantings that afternoon.
Also, a Military Honor Call will be conducted with area veterans who would like to participate.
A Spiritual Moment will be observed with Clergy to reflect on the tremendous sacrifice that America enjoys in keeping the peace... worldwide!
Volunteers should want to experience the wonderment of Mother Nature through landscape tasks, interacting as a team effort and thoroughly enjoying refreshments, good conversation, hiking along a trail or just pondering the serenity of the beauty of the forest, river and colorful environment.
