James and Sirius’ favourite pastime was to sit on the steps outside the library and pass judgement on those going in to study. Their university was massive so the pool of randos was always plentiful.

Oftentimes it just resulted in a big game of smash or pass. Or rather it was a game for James where Sirius just offered his opinion. Sirius was hopelessly in love with his boyfriend, Remus. They had moved in together recently after problems with Sirius’ family. James doesn’t know the full story. Sirius hardly talks about his family. 

“She’s lovely, look at her hair. It’s like a fire.”

“That’s Evans, she’s in my Physics class. Too bad she likes women.”

“Ugh, all the good ones do.”

“Hmmm he’s cute,” James tried again.

“Too many facial piercings for me. Are those snake bites?”

“Hot. Wait no. I’ve found the love of my life. That devastatingly gorgeous, grey-eyed god just behind him.”

“What the fuck Prongs?” Sirius exclaimed, his expression incredulous.

James, startled by this sudden outburst, tore his eyes away from the man in the dark green crop top as he entered the library doors. “What?”

“That’s my little brother!”

“You have a brother?”

this!!!!!! but also being a seeker means you have to be like… small and agile (do NOT look at viktor krum as an example of this he’s an anomaly i swear) because you have to manoeuvre around the other players and be swift to catch the snitch. that’s why i think regulus was chosen for seeker but also…. he’s definitely competitive he totally doesn’t speak to anyone in the opposing team at least 2 weeks before and after a match

i think people brush past the fact that regulus was quite literally a man in sports. very much into quidditch, yes he likes books, yes he’s a strategist, a silent killer, but also. jock! i feel like jock is always james’ persona bc he’s a chaser but, regulus! he might not be the unit™ but a certain physique comes with the athletics. i offer you jock regulus who’s prideful and competitive and snarky and pissed off? just absolutely locked in the game?? jock regulus i mourn your loss everyday, i shall bring you back.

james potter fell in love with regulus black when they went for some drinks together (it was sirius' birthday) and they were playfully arguing about the most mundane thing, both a bit drunk and giggly. it happened the second james tried to prove regulus was wrong saying "nuh uh" and regulus just answered "yuh uh" in the same bratty tone.

he knew they were meant to be right there.

regulus black got asked to be james' boyfriend on january 4th, 1976, his fifth year and the day the sun was closest to earth. he thought it was always meant to be like that.

and he died on july 5th, 1979. the day the sun was farthest from earth. with his last breath, he realised it was also always meant to be like that.

to be honest i think it’s the fact that it IS canon that drives people away from it. no one ever ships canon ships. its always drarry not hinny, its always dramione not romione, its always wolfstar not remus and tonks. it’s just how fandom works, and the creativity that comes with having free reign on a ship not already written by someone else.

Look, the reason I am so against jily being with other people is that they are so endgame that there wouldn’t be a fucking series to even write fanfic about if it weren’t for them literally falling in love.

They are soulmates! Their patronus’ were a corresponding Stag and Doe! I don’t think people understand how rare it is for a couple to have corresponding patronus’ right off the bat!! Not to mention how hung up they were on each other for years before they even got together…not always romantically sure, but God did they have the tension there for the match-and-set when they did finally admit their feelings. And it wasn’t perfect! They both challenged each other! They both defied Voldemort three times! They both loved each other so much that they chose to keep a baby in the middle of a war they were fighting, because he was a product of their love!!!

I understand ship and let ship, I just can’t understand how anyone could look at their characters and not feel cruel to keep them apart in any universe.
