i still have whiplash.

The week of the inauguration, I was preparing for a long weekend at a gaming festival. The festival itself was busy, and cell service was so bad, I couldn't doomscroll even if I wanted to. Of course when I got back home and caught up, I expected things to be bad, but I've been blindsided by how quickly we're plunging (deeper and more openly) into fascism.

The worst part is, I have little hope for American society. I feel that our collective psyche is too damaged for us to unite effectively. The COVID-19 response should be a big neon banner in that regard. I want to be wrong, but I can only watch the ball drop so much. Even so, I have to find and engage in resistance no matter what. I can't complain about a lack of something I'm not doing my part to spread, but damn does it look bleak.

omg first post bestiieeee

I miss blogging. I think this time in my life is the best time to get back into it. Instead of oversharing and publicly crashing out over life's struggles, I can talk about more pleasant things, such as the 'prime' of my life being marred by my surroundings descending into full on fascism with rights being rolled back at dystopian speeds! I have hobbies, travels, and other stuff to yap about, but a lot of it will be... that.

Funnily, this also comes at a strange time where I want to detach more from online spaces due to the data privacy nightmare that is social networking and smart devices, but this feels different. Blogging seems like more of a "desktop hobby", far removed from reel spam and doom scrolling. In general, my entire digital life seems to be moving back to the 2000s era. Old games are constantly in my rotation, Neocities keeps growing in appeal, I find myself preferring blogs over reels, and I detest the lack of control and the forced obsolesce of modern technology and the forced inclusion of AI and "smart" functions.

The first post isn't supposed to be a rant, so I'll stop here. I have another blog for reblogging aesthetic stuff -- @idoltalk if you want to peep!
