Important Life/Medical Update:

Under the cut due to medical and health topics. But I think I'm going to be okay. Thank you.

I found out I have breast cancer of some kind.

Sorry for being blunt. There’s no easy way to say that.

And please excuse the Notes App format across multiple social media platforms, I can’t have this conversation too many more times because it’s been a lot to process. And I’m not going to bring this up a lot moving forward unless there’s a major update or victory. It’s just important to me that this isn’t a secret.

I don’t really need anything in particular right now. If you’re reading this, I already know I have your love and support and I cherish it. I just wanted to share this update to be transparent and authentic with what’s going on in my life.

I won’t know the extent of it or how treatable it is for another two weeks- that’s the soonest I could get an appointment for some tests to learn more. :/ The wait is really hard. But I’m optimistic for the most part. I’m young, I investigated this as soon as I noticed it, and I have an amazing support system both on and offline.

…Don’t get me wrong. I’m scared shitless. I’m processing a lot right now and it will probably take me longer to respond to some things like messages or comments. But I have the privilege of access to many resources, and hopefully quick treatment. So I’m keeping my chin up as best I can.

I hope to see the end of this process with a renewed excitement for the life ahead of me. I am telling myself that this is going to be okay and putting in the work to make it so. <3

For now, I’m going to keep doing my best every day. I’m going to keep drawing and writing like before because that brings me joy.

If you see me around fandom spaces don’t feel the need to treat me differently, either! Just exchange a wave and a smile with me! Laughing and chatting with my friends about our favorite things are still bright lights in my everyday life!

And if your gut is telling you something in your body is suspicious, please don’t wait and get it investigated!!!

Note while I'm open to a certain amount of discussion beforehand to prevent unhappy surprises, in the end, you wholly are responsible for scaling your art request and payment appropriately!

EX: $15 can get you a nice looking solo character sketch art, but if you ask for a whole comic page (?!) at that amount, you’re likely to receive only loose sketches of what that page would look like.

But, for any amount $15 or over, I can show you how your piece is going before submission, if you would like anything major changed!

To make it easier on myself, I've set a $5 minimum, which will get you the equivalent of quick/rough sketch art in return. - [★Rough Cost = Time(*) Equivalents to Get You Started★]

$5 = 15 min silly sketch $15~$20 = 40 min refined sketch $25~$30 = 1.2 hour concentrated work (which might include: moderately realized full page scene w/unrefined bg; filled multi-chara sketchy page; solo character refined bust up w/ flat colors; etc...)

(*) This measure is active "pen on canvas" time, not including time invested thinking about your piece, etc. Nor is it a hard limit...! I will NOT drop a request early just because I have reached a certain time allotted IF I believe it to still be unfinished.

While my end goal may be a personal one, I also want to make people as happy as I can with this and make my "commissions" affordable to more folks!

Do note that past the $100~ish mark (roughly 4 hours of work) the difference in quality of the finished piece may not look significantly different, even with more time or money.

...Unless your request is for a truly complex piece, such as this fake novel cover. Which would require in the ballpark of $500 (equivalent to 40 hours of time) to reach THAT level of completion and polish! If you are seriously considering (!?) requesting a piece of that scale or similar, make sure to warn me ahead of time...!! ^^;;;

Between Forgo Masked Dedede vs. Awoofy Prince Bandee

Who'd win? Like I love the role swap between them but the idea of who's more powerful between the two while brainwashed got me thinking 🤔

Also I am getting a 3d printer soon and learning sculpting and I love the forgotten world roleswap and you're making tempted to actually buy the game so watch out I am gonna attempt to print and paint that awoofy boi!

(I just realized you specifically asked about the masked versions of these characters- but my imagination went wild and I explored their first boss fight form first-! I am so sorry about that and I’ll try to explore their masked versions sometime soon <3 )

SO Primal Dedede vs Primal Bandee was a wild idea to explore (pun intended). They’re both very powerful in their own right- Dedede’s larger size and strength makes him a tank. But Bandee’s smaller size and speed make him nimble! So I couldn’t come up with a winner yet. :’D

But the battle itself is pretty tragic and emotional on principle-!! A King vs his most loyal subject, but neither of them are really in fully control of their actions…. And in the Forgotten Land Light Novels, when Bandee fights Primal Dedede, he’s so filled with despair and shock that he can barely move, and the guilt of fighting Dedede, even if it was necessary, stayed with him for almost the entire rest of the story!

But under Fecto Forgo’s control? Dreamland’s stubborn King, and most loyal guardian…? This is something neither of them would back down from. And since they’re not themselves, I think they would resort to more vicious and under-handed maneuvers that would deeply shock both of them when they’re back to normal.

Here’s some of my brainstorming while considering this!

Two Beasts meet in that fated arena in Winter Horns…. Circling each other to gauge each other’s strengths and weaknesses…

The battle begins with their powerful battle cries!!

Dedede goes straight in with his hammer, but I love the idea that Bandee has some great strength hidden in him… Remember Megaton Punch? <3

Bandee tries his claws-

But Dedede’s larger size makes close combat more risky. (Side note, Primal Dedede picks up Bandee and throws him to the ground in the Light Novels too!) I think it’s a pretty brutal move that regular Dedede would never try- his pride in his battle skills is too great to resort to this.

Spearing the Great King’s robes?! A callous action Primal Bandee doesn’t think twice about. Humiliated and enraged by being punted into the ground, he punches the King with all his might.

The King is PISSED. His pride is intact even through Fecto’s influence. Let’s see how you like it, you puny pup….

The second phase of the fight begins at some point and Dedede wields the pillar from the arena-

So yeah! I had to stop brainstorming since I have other projects to finish but I hope you enjoy my short exploration of, “What if these two were both brainwashed into a primal state, were not on the same side, and had to fight?”

Beast Pack Gikabi Designs, Mark II!

Fleurina gets to be part of the Beast Council because she's the only miniboss in Forgotten Land that isn't a Beastified Dreamland boss, and she deserves to be part of the group~!

I like to think if these people are trying to survive together in an abandoned, Forgotten Land, if they ever found something valuable like say, a suit of armor, they would divide the pieces amongst themselves so everyone is a little protected from the elements... <3 Found Family Beast Pack, I will champion you with all my strength-!!

Organizing an event of this magnitude and in this format was somewhat of a new experience for me, I must admit. The road was a bit bumpy even with all the precautions I took, but we made it in the end! I am proud to present you all the fruits of our collective labors - this collage.

Happy 3rd Anniversary Forgotten Land Roleswap!

(I hope this gift art isn't in bad taste given my retirement /// but I wanted to send you something on this day to celebrate, and this was the only idea that stuck ^^ )

I actually had to wait some time between receiving this ask on April 12th and posting it because just looking at it fills me with an overwhelmingly positive and warm feeling- and I couldn't put together the coherent response I feel it deserves!!!

A crossover episode?! What a wonderful, incredible gift!!

I once mentioned to Dess that I dreamed of what would happen if my Forgotten Land Roleswap and her Apologies AU ever crossed over someday. Anyone who followed the Apologies AU will recognize Noir, his little sister Adeleine, and their best friend Raquelle <3

In a distant reality, these two trios met... Though their encounter was brief, it was that much more emotionally meaningful...

Dess directly sent me this follow-up comic after submitting this ask, and gave me his permission and blessing to share it as a sort of epilogue for his Apologies AU. <3

Dess, my friend- I will always treasure these beautiful gifts. Thank you for sharing these with me even after your current retirement from the internet. And thank you for sharing your art and your stories with us. As you navigate the next chapter of your life I'm sending you my deepest wishes for your success, happiness, and most of all, peace.

are dedede and meta in a relationship yet in the beginning of the forgotten land au comics or currently in the plot?

Great question! <3

To sum it all up:

The Forgotten Land Roleswap is a story about Love.

...But romance is not a central theme! So at no point before or during this AU's story will they be in a romantic relationship.

I may have answered this a long time ago but I'll go into more detail because it's still important to me! My yapping under the cut:

It's no secret that Metadede is my top ship hahaha, my blog is full of it! Drawing and writing SUPER SWEET fluff and exploring different romantic scenarios is definitely a favorite comforting activity of mine ;P

But to be completely honest? I didn't want to include a... for lack of a better word, "controversial" theme in my story. Yes Metadede is one of the top ships in the fandom, but I also didn't want to alienate any readers off the bat if they aren't a fan. Everyone has the right to not enjoy certain ships or romance in general in the Kirby fandom, and in no way am I using this to persuade anyone or imply my interpretations of things are the right ones! Just like how the canon "Kirby and the Forgotten Land" game on the Switch is for anyone and everyone who wants to play it, I wanted the bar of entry to be similarly open with "The Forgotten Land Roleswap." Anyone can read it, and whether a reader enjoys it and stays for the ride, or decides early on it's not for them, at least more people were able to give it a try! But for all the work and love I'm pouring into this, I didn't want to slap a "this is metadede" sticker on the cover, because there's LOTS of themes I'm excited to explore that aren't related to popular fandom ships or the discourse that can come with it!

For the purposes of this comic, I'll just spoil this right now, there's no explicitly romantic tropes, like a big romantic confession scene of feelings, or smooches, or other stuff like that, that one might find in my work outside of the Roleswap.

But just because I'm not explicitly putting the label of romantic in it, doesn't mean I'm not exploring their relationship, ya feel me? Because by definition, a relationship is still the connection between two people! And those connections between characters and how strong they are is one of the driving forces and central themes to this story!

I'm interested in exploring their relationship to each other as fellow leaders, warriors, role models, and heroes of their land! They're so outwardly different from each other, yet when you dig past the surface-level images these two carefully craft for themselves, one can find a lot of similarities! Beyond that noble gallant knight, and haughty passionate king, lies two individuals with a strong sense of duty to protect their loved ones, and a drive to better themselves to be the guardians that their home needs.

Also, I needed to give them a starting point where there's room for them to develop a better understanding of each other, even if they've worked together before! As of writing this, we're close to the end of Chapter 2, and we've seen plenty of examples of fumbles, miscommunications or misunderstandings between the two. Like when Meta tried to go ahead and split from Dedede for a "more efficient search," or when Dedede took solving the Tortuilding problem into his own hands and executed a projectile-based attack move that was NOT pre-approved by Meta Knight xD And there's plenty of hidden emotions and motivations they are still keeping closed off from each other, and there's room for those walls to be broken down as the story progresses.... And by the end, perhaps they will have gone through enough to understand each other in a deep way that truly embody their title of "Sworn Partners..."

....And whether the reader would like to interpret these interactions as building up to romantic undertones or not.... I was hoping to leave it open-ended for the purposes of my specific storytelling in this instance. Not a big fan of ships in Kirby? Okay! I really try to stick to the levels of interaction between Dedede and Meta shown in Kirby Fighters 2, a very canon game installment! HEHEHE. BUT HEY, if you like romance? I'm not immune to the pleasures of shipping!! But at no point will Dedede and Meta kiss or call each other "mi amor" or other such romantic pet names in my version of the story.

And hey, My Leon and Carol's romantic love is a driving force in the plot and an important motivation for the Beast Pack, so there will be some romance present!

I like to believe Love is one of the universe's strongest forces. And it's not restricted to romantic love, either. Familial love, friendly love... Caring for those around you, forming those deep connections where you can learn new and wonderful things for each other, finding your people and protecting one another even if you're not related by blood... Coming together as a community to combine your strengths and face the world around you with the very best you have...

That's the sort of story I'm hoping to tell.
