Ginny and Harry’s first kiss in Half Blood Prince.

Comparison of their first kiss in the book vs the film:

In the book, their kiss happens in Chapter 24 - Sectumsempra of Half Blood Prince, right after Gryffindor wins the Quidditch cup.

In the film, it happens when Ginny takes Harry to the Room of Requirement to hide the Half Blood Prince’s potions book.

In the book Harry and Ginny’s first kiss is really amazing. It’s a heat of the moment leap that Harry took and JK Rowling wrote it so well. I like that Harry looks for Ron to see his reaction, and Ron, being his best friend, accepts it, knowing that Harry wouldn’t hurt his little sister. I love how JK Rowling basically says that Harry hopes he and Ginny are going to end up snogging. 

The film… I’ll start this by mentioning that Bonnie Wright and Daniel Radcliffe are both incredible actors, but sadly they had very little romantic chemistry on screen. That is partly because they were both young actors and still learning but it is the sad truth. It’s also because at this point Steve Kloves and Warner Bros has turned Ginny into a bland, awkward character that literally has no personality (the total opposite of what she is like in the books). The “flirty” moments between them where so cringe it’s painful to watch. They also cut most of Quidditch from the film, so their kiss had to be set up differently, but this… I mean I don’t know what the fuck this even is. I feel like they could’ve written in the kiss way better. How do you think they could have written Ginny and Harry’s first kiss better in the Half Blood Prince film?
