one second, they were celebrating being able to shift again. having escaped from the maze of cate's mind and brought back to reality, they'd saved their own lives once again! the next second, all the joy had dissipated and they're having a showdown with luke's younger brother— the one who'd been presumed dead for years. the one they managed to save from a life of entrapment. the one who, at any given moment, could murder every single person in this room. [cate can hear their thoughts; she knows what they're thinking. if the look on her face towards sam reads anything, it's something along the lines of attack them.] fuck, fuck, fuck. a blink of an eye and suddenly, they're on the ground— a piercing feeling at their chest, as if bones had just cracked and their lungs had been punctured by the splints. they shift to masculine > their chest begins to heal.

“woah— what the fuck?!” rising to their feet, a glance over sam's shoulder reveals the doorway him and emma had entered through: nothing too powerful to kill him, but enough to send him back. another seamless shift to feminine > an energy blast is sent towards sam and jordan watches as he's sent catapulted through the door— earning gasps from the rest of the group, including a distressed emma pleading to not hurt each other. jordan doesn't want this. [they don't want to fight luke's younger brother? they didn't want any of this to begin with.] but they'll protect themselves; they won't go down without a fight.

“i'm not your enemy— none of us are! we're trying to help you, sam!” something tells jordan, it'll take more than that to convince sam they're not the bad guys.

i know i made a joke post last night about my "takes" regarding the finale, but here's a most serious post detailing my takes on the season + finale, as well as where it leaves my portrayal for jordan and this blog. spoilers under the cut!

season takes;

i really enjoyed this first season. as a college student myself, i found myself relating quite a bit with the dialogue + the way the characters act. granted, i'm not a supe (thank god) but... it felt real in ways that not every teenage/college based show does. so kudos to amazon for that.

big fan of limoreau!!! (yes that's the ship name, i did my research for this post...) love the enemies-to-lovers trope, but i do wish they'd had a slight better build-up. i feel like their relationship, imo, was a little rushed + came out of nowhere but... it's a queer relationship so you know what, i'll let it slide

finale takes;

loosely spoke to zawn about this last night, but i do think jordan could have taken sam in the beginning scene. i don't think it would've ended well, but i do think jordan is the only one out of the group with the abilities to actually... fight sam. (but i think there will come a time where... they won't be able to. like sam is going to become too powerful.)

big fan of cate + sam joining the seven. not only from a story standpoint, but also just keeping longevity for the franchise type of way? marvel (their movies) really failed at bringing in their new/younger cast and making them feel embedded in the story, which they're ultimately paying for now. i feel like the boys franchise is trying to avoid that and they've done in properly, imo, so far.

loved the finale coming full circle: jordan beginning the season protecting/saving marie, marie ending the season protecting/saving jordan. truly a moment for television history imo. but my god why was jordan walking so slow across that grass...

i do believe the theory that the godolkin crew is being held by victoria. it only makes sense to me, and i just saw a reddit post saying andre is even holding a phone in the scene. i don't think vought would allow their prisoners to have a cellphone. so yes, i believe victoria has them because it's in her best interests to keep marie and co. alive!

where it leaves my blog + portrayal;

as far as my default/main verse goes: i'll probably make it pre-series. just off the basis of, once you enter the timeframe of the season, it's literally day-after-day stuff. i literally think this whole season takes place in the span of 2 weeks? like literally in canon?

activity will still remain consistent, but since the season is done airing, i do want to start returning to some of my other blogs that've been put on the backburner (@the2000bug for starters, where yes— i will be adding more characters from gen v)

if i do write threads post-season, i'll run under the theory that the crew is being held by victoria! at least until stated/proven otherwise.

they're in a hurry. both to get the fuck out of dodge and retreat back to their dorm, but also to send the notes on starlight's speech to professor brinkerhoff before the clock strikes noon. [if they took one glance up and the clock said eleven— they were going to have a heart attack.] they needed coffee. and possibly a bump. but one problem to solve at a time. hastily making their way into the student union's jitter-bean, it doesn't take a magazine or television to recognize the yellow and white cladded woman in front of them. starlight! [they'd be more surprised if they hadn't seen her a mere ten minutes ago from the back of a crimefighting lecture hall.]

“my parents are paying seventy-seven thousand dollars a semester for me to listen to you— a non-alumni giving me a speech on how to become a superhero. where my morals should lie.” a big build-up for an incoming insult? “but, fuck— you gave a good speech. better than the deep's, at least. the last time he was here, the lecture hall smelled like tuna for a week.”

in the hushed sanctum of their dimly lit dorm, jordan ignited the packed bowl of their blog— the soft gurgle of water bubbling bouncing off the thin walls. it's become a nightly ritual for the two, a brief respite from the misery of being a college student. [not mentioning the fact— being a college student as a supe.] exhaling slowly, a swirling mist of smoke unfurls from their lips. jordan coughs in response, waving the vapor lingering in their face before attempting to speak.

“did you see the new rankings?” the bong is handed off to the right, eyes rolling at their own words— evidence of bad news to come. “we got fucked again. both of us this time.”

TEGANNNN, i'm soooo interested to hear about your interpretation of the relationship between jordan & each of their forms! like what pushes them to choose one or the other in a situation, certain aspects of each that they might like better or not as much, how the outside perspective of others plays a role in it all?? just literally anything you wanna talk about !!!

oooooo, now this is some good soup. thank you for asking this because it's an excellent question, and i'm so excited to delve in!

in terms of their day-to-day life, their presenting form really depends on their feelings/emotions. one second, they could feel more masculine and be in their masculine form; another second, they could feel more feminine and decide to shift. it really just depends on their personal vibes. although, i can definitely see them in a club using their feminine form for free drinks. or using their masculine form to try and get a point across/having that extra intimidation factor. (lmao.)

i do think jordan has a slight resentment towards both their forms, but i mean that in the most minor of ways. from what we've seen in the show, certain elements of their powers don't carry over. masculine jordan is unable to produce their energy blasts like their feminine self > feminine jordan doesn't have the same fast agility as masculine jordan. while more of the other core supe mechanisms do stick [their strength, their fast healing, etceterea], i can definitely see some slight disdain towards having to shift in the midst of combat. but we also know they panic if they're unable to shift too!

i do think it's worth noting, for years jordan did have a self-resentment towards themself. growing up with their parents being unaccepting of their gender identity/power, that takes a toll on someone (especially a child) and as we've been brought to believe— it was brink who really helped them learn that it's okay? so, it really wasn't until they were eighteen/nineteen years old when they started to really accept themselves.

outside perspective can definitely play a part in how they present themself, especially in terms of their parents and vought. as we've been shown, jordan's parents aren't very accepting of their powers (and how their "primary power" has bled into their gender identity as well). usually, they'll be in their masculine form for their visits, just to avoid the conflict that'll usually arise otherwise. vought are definitely on that same level as well— in their minds, they have an image to uphold as well. while jordan might be able to knock them up a few points with a younger + diverse demographic, they'll never be anything more than just a few points on the board for them. vought's brownie points if you will. while they may present themselves in their masculine form at a meeting with vought, jordan isn't stupid either, and will usually shift. just to test the waters. (and can very clearly see the usual bewilderment on their faces.)

now, this was something they hadn't seen before: golden boy in near shambles. ranked number one at godolkin university, the ultimate superhero who's comparable to the likes of homelander. [the picture-perfect supe every single supe wanted to be, but would never amount to. just like jordan.] luke's demeanor draws an immediate concern, jordan's brows furrowing as they shoot up from their bed. “woah— calm down, luke. what the hell are you talking about?”

there's plenty of supes who talk their shit— jordan seems them daily on campus. those who talk the game but can't play it. luke is far from those supes; if he says something, he means it. the way he's carrying himself, eyes widened as if he's witnessed the most horrid crime known to man. jordan's breath hitches. this was big, something eating away at luke's heart.

“fix everything? what's going on— what needs fixing?” feet on the carpet, they make their way over to him, head tilting ever the slightest. what the fuck was going on?

neither did they— not as luke bellowed at professor brink. the what ifs play on a repeat in their mind, consuming their every last thought over the previous twenty-four hours. it's why as the blonde slides into the opposite side of the booth from them, jordan narrows their eyes— already on the attack. “listening to my thoughts, or just trying to make conversation? you're going to have to work a lot harder than that.” head dropping down, their gaze falters to the vought-a-burger table— ignorance of their burger and loss of appetite becoming clear. they don't trust her— not anymore. [is it a stranger or friend sitting across from them? it's an unclear answer, but they'll never know if they don't speak.] features contorting to showcase their apathy, they exhale a deep breath and look back up. “you know what— don't tell me, cate. i don't even want to know.”

maybe it's the easiest way to the end conversation, or maybe it's because they're sick of looking at cate's cerulean, yet bloodshot, eyes reeking of a lack of sleep. [there's also the voice in the back of their head screaming: I REFUSE TO BE A COWARD. NOT ANYMORE.] but, jordan sighs heavily and decides to indulge.

“what happened then doesn't fucking matter anymore. what matters now is what we're going to do about it, alright? attaining atonement, or whatever the fuck they say.”
