24. If you have noticed themes emerging in your writing, what are they? What broad themes and topics do you enjoy exploring?

I think I say it in my pinned post, but I really enjoy writing familial bonds, hurt/comfort, and queer stories (especially sapphic ones).

For familial bonds, that's basically every ninja turtle fic I've ever written. The 03 ones obviously, with how protective everyone is of each other and their easy banter built from literally growing up together. And I try to write Rise Casey's connections with the Hamatos that way, too. There's something I find fun about exploring someone who probably didn't have any deep connections in their life while they were in a cult (the Foot) and then clinging onto the ones who helped her see the truth and being affected by their easy rapport with one another. *punches my wall* I'll finish writing my Casey lore fic eventually!

Now, hurt/comfort fics are some of my favorite fics to read and thus write. It's that height of emotion, the physical pain, with the catharsis of others trying to make everything better. A showcasing of the strength of their bonds like yum yum delicious more please and thank you! If y'all could see the amount of wips I have that center around this trope... There's a very specific line I draw with the amount and types of hurt a character can experience, so obviously it ends up being one of the only ways I can see the stories I want are to make them myself, lol.

And queer stories!! I'm such a sucker for sapphic romances and polyamorous connections. That's capril, obviously, and mafunono from my older fics. And if I had the drive, I'd probably expand on that one KH AU story I have for sorikai. I don't think there's a single fic I've written in the past few years that doesn't have some kind of queer component to it, even if it isn't the focal point. It's honestly a running joke in the Roadtrip crew that most of what I've written for the story makes it seem like there's no cishet people in the world lmao! I can't help it, I guess. ;P

Other than the big three above, I've noticed how much I like to inject humor into my writing. I find it so fun to get into a flow and then bust out laughing because I thought of something silly to add. It also helps alleviate rising tension. I want (most of) the stories I write to have a happy ending, so sprinkling in jokes always feels like a good reminder that things will turn out fine. And maybe this isn't a theme, but I like writing in present tense. I want my stories to feel in the moment but not be as immersive as, say, writing in 1st person. I want my readers to be right by a character's side reacting alongside them.

I cannot put into words how much I Fucking Loathe the fact that when you search something on youtube now it will randomly intersperse blocks of "people also watched" and "for you" into the results. That's not what I searched for, youtube. I typed in a search query because I wanted to see search results, not random unrelated garbage you have placed in my way apparently to either inconvenience me or force me to scroll further for actual results. I despise your wretched little games and every time I see it I can only instantly close the tab as I am overcome with the urge to burn something down.

Mozilla, in its finite wisdom, embedded LLM bots into recent versions of Firefox for the vitally-important purpose of… naming tab groups. Now, some users are noticing CPU and power usage spikes caused by a background process called Inference.

Ugh. Reminder again for Firefox users to visit your about:config page, search for the browser.ml.chat.enabled key, and set that to false:

If yours says true then double-click it until it reads false.

Doing that turns off the AI chatbot features in Firefox, but also the stupid new LLM tab-naming feature that's rolling out.

a year or so back, some screenshot-snippets from those four funtastic tmnt'03 booklets were circulating, but i don't think full scans were ever uploaded anywhere? (let me know if i'm wrong, i'll come back and add a link in this post, but!) i scanned my copies for archiving purposes and thought i'd share them here, too.
