What is Art take two!!
After this class I have learned there are many definitions to what art is. Art is in the eye of the beholder. Art can be a political statement, a feeling you get from an artwork or an attractive design. It can even be something you may find ugly or crazy but it’s so profound that you can’t help but stare at it. Many things are very revealing and give you a great insight into the artist mind. I don’t think I will ever see artwork the same way. I have learned to have a more objective and open mind towards different types or artists! Thank you Professor Marquez!

Mid-term photo I chose to do a photo from anime picture because my whole family is big on anime! We love to go to the conventions “Comic-Con” and I personally love the color schemes used in anime. I had a lo of fun taking these pictures. Yes I had about twenty takes. My sons couldn’t decide wether I should be a cat or a bear but since they always portray the girls as kittens I decided to go against it just for the sake of it. I don’t like taking pictures of myself very much but I had fun with this.

Visiting art galleries in Key West, FL. Love the diversity! I have to say James Coleman was my favorite. I love the color in his work.

Post #3 This project was very interesting for me as looking at all the paintings from the artist of the past it made me reflect on life today.
In the first painting from Norman Rockwell “Freedom from want” it shows a family having thanksgiving dinner and interacting with each other. In my picture you can see how today we are always on the phone and everyone is doing their own thing.
In the second painting by Michelangelo “Th creation of Adam” I chose to use a little humor. In the painting we see Adam looks to hold the hand of his creator. In mine we see my son’s look when his father asks him for the control.
In the third painting by Julius Victor Berger “Romantic scene In the Garden of Belvedere” we see a boy who gives a simple rose to impress the girl. But in my picture we see how today society has become so materialistic and it takes much more than a rose to impress the opposite sex.

Post #2 THAT TIME I DREW SOL LEWITT revised
I have to say my first experience drawing a Sol LEWITT was a shame. I felt like a kindergartner could do a way better job than me. But after some inspiration from my fellow classmates I think I did a better job. Also, this time I had much more help so I would like to say thanks to my two younger kids and my brother in law and my niece as they came up with great ideas and helped me every step of the way. I call my drawing lights in Paris and it is made on black paper with oil metallic paint 2017.

Post#1 WHAT IS ART? Who's the artist? And what's the point?
TO ME ART IS SOMETHING THAT INSPIRES YOU. IT SHOULD BE ORIGINAL AND ORDINARY AT THE SAME TIME. SORT OF LIKE SOMETHING YOU SEE OR USE EVERY DAY BUT ON STEROIDS TO A SENSE. MAKE YOU SEE THE BEAUTY OR CREATIVITY IN THE EVERYDAY OBJECTS OR FEELINGS OF LIFE. IT CAN ALSO REPRESENT THE CIRCUMSTANCES IN WHICH WE LIVE AT THAT CERTAIN POINT IN TIME. TO ME THE ARTIST IS THE PERSON WHO IS CAPABLE OF SEEING BEYOND WHAT IS IN FRONT OF THEM AND IS ABLE TO SEE THE BEAUTY IN AN EVERYDAY OBJECT OR EVEN MOMENT. THEY CAN BRING OUT DIFFERENT FEELINGS FROM YOU JUST WITH THE USE OF THEIR MEDIUM. DA VINCI WAS ABLE TO SEE THE BEAUTY OF A WOMAN’S FACE NOT WITH ELABORATE MAKE UP OR EXPENSIVE JEWELRY BUT IN THE SIMPLE SMILE DEPICTED IN HIS PORTRAIT “HEAD OF A WOMAN”. THE WOMAN’S FACE DEPICTS A SENSE OF PEACEFULNESS THAT TRANSMITS BEYOND THE PAINTING.
The point of art is to inspire people and make them think. The world is not all black and white. It is full of colors and shapes that are not present in our everyday lives and arts gives us a peek into this world we don't always get to see.
