Why do people want Jason to be villain so bad?

Recently, I noticed more and more self proclaimed Jason fans saying they want villain Jason back and that it was his best era. And I'm sorry but what are they talking about?

Ever since he came back to life in comics he was mostly potrayed as either an antagonist anti-hero or an reluctant ally, if not to Batman than to other members of the bat family. He had very brief period when he was written as a straight up villain and it was always at the hands of the writers who openly disliked him

Villain Jason stories lacked niuanse so badly he was pretty much a completly different, paper thin character with Red Hood esthetic. Is this really the character people want back?

Because my Jason, Jason of his best written stories, is a complex character who wants to protect innocent, especially women and children and isn't reluctant to kill the worst of the worst. This Jason goes after pedophiles, rapists, mass murderers and human traffickers. He doesn't kill random goons or a petty criminals, he doesn't even want to kill most of the Batman's rouges. This is Jason that was first hinted at in Under the Hood and was established and reinforced during the Lost Days. A character whose morality clashes with Batman's which causes him to be an atagonist, but never a villain

Killing people is not what make Jason interesting but it is something that adds to what is a core of his character and that protection of the innocent. Making sure that no one would have to end up like he did. Is there a selfish aspect to his behaviour? Absolutly, but it doesn't make him a villain

DickKory and DickBabs shippers are actually so frustrating to see fight. I always feel like they both end up focusing on putting the other female character down instead of celebrating the ship they're so obsessed with. I love both Babs and Kory and I genuinely want them to be friends and allowed to be standalone characters without Dick. So often, they just get reduced to what they do for Dick instead of being treated as fully fleshed out characters like Dick. I totally get shipping, lord knows a lot of my blog is ships, but I will never understand getting in fights with other shippers. Fandom is a place for expression and celebration, not putting others down.

As much as the cyclical nature of comics allows it, they should be endgame. Like, I know that part of the fun in Brutalia is the bittersweetness of it all, and how incompatible and yet perfect for each other they are. But! I'm sappy about them and think they should be happy together (obligatory disclaimer: without butchering Talia's character in the process).

Was reading Teen Titans again, and I just remembered that THIS (teen titans 30):

happened within just HOURS of this (teen titans 29):

Eddie was close enough to the fight that started with Brother Blood almost right after Jason left the tower, that he was almost roasted in the cross fire.

Eddie and Jason were SO close to each other RIGHT at the time when both of them needed a friend and a direction (or better direction in Jason’s case) in life. So, so close. They were RIGHT there. They could have passed each other in the street. There’s no way D.C. did this on purpose, but if they HAD!

Two ‘failed’ kid sidekicks who were friends, popping up again at the same time, after YEARS of being dead or in comics limbo, literally an issue apart. So much could have been done with this, but they did NOTHING. Why did they do nothing? (Probably because they wanted us to forget Jason’s age, and they forgot he knew Eddie, and they didn’t really care much for Eddie, or Jason being humanized by having a friend. I know why but still WHY?)

Ima write a thing for this, not even considering whether or not to do it, I’m writing the thing. Expect to see the thing soon. That is all.

The designs are not that bad (it could be better) and I think it's actually really cute. I just wanna know why DC is trying to gaslight everyone into thinking Jason is a red-head (first with Grant Morrison and now this).

In pre-crisis, his hair was blonde — you could argue strawberry blonde but definitely not ginger. Plus, I think it works better that he has black hair because him and Dick canonically look similar.

Jason is a redhead in the Dynamic Duo concept art 💀.

I have many feelings about the way fanon and a lot of dc's narrative make jason out to be some sort of idiot when he's so competent. Not just tactically and in combat, but from a strategic standpoint.

I've started fics that i've had to dnf because jason can't do stealth/undercover, or asks questions about things he ABSOLUTELY would know about.

He always can't talk back to tim or barbara which annoys me to no end, because jason was sassy as robin and had no issue talking back to bruce then, why would these two be a problem. Also people just wanna act like he didn't have all of them dancing to his tune, flying by the seat of their pants when he was establishing himself in Gotham and the Alley. If jason plans didnt entail his revenge, they'd have spent a lot more time chasing his tail. He had them at every turn, and he's been trained by multiple tutors who are THE BEST in the world, who he subsequently took out.

Jason is intelligent, competent and deadly. Also alot of the disregard for his intelligence to prop tim or others up, while actively hc-ing or presenting him as POC , most times latino, feels gross as fuck and people should feel disgusting about that.

I just think many batman fandom writers disregard so much potential when it comes to jason's expertise in things that the others have never done and a lot of that comes from not interacting with source material, but i feel like a fair amount comes from wanting to shoehorn jason into dumb, impulsive jock stereotypes or 'always angry for no reason' (especially in 'batfamily' fics) when there's so much depth and richness to jason as a character intellectually.
