Walt Disney Animation Studios has a wonderful presence on social media. Not only do they break down the barrier between the audience and the studio, but they bring an experience to their audience that stays with them long after they have seen the films. Their films are more than films - they are a way of life. It’s no wonder that I’m who I am - I grew up watching these classic films.
If I were to make a suggestion for the studio and their social media marketing strategy, I would say this - cut down on the obvious promotion. Sure, you can promote the newest films, but why not do it in a fun way rather than making more than one trailer? If you bring the audience in to experience the movie instead of blatantly trying to sell them on it, it may work to your advantage.

As I mentioned in posts before this, Disney Animation takes advantage of Twitter and YouTube as their main social media marketing tools. The studio does also have a Facebook page, which they update regularly (but not frequently). The photos are recent, but not much is engaging about their presence on Facebook.
Twitter, however (link provided earlier), is updated frequently and is very engaging to their audience. There are many tweets throughout the day, as well as GIFS, memes, and short videos to engage followers.
Their YouTube channel is almost the same story as Twitter. This page, however, is filled with mainly promotional videos for their films. It is updated frequently, but not as engaging as Twitter because almost all of the content consists of promotion.

Disney is very engaging throughout their social media platforms. They post videos on their Twitter and Youtube accounts (YouTube more frequently) about anything from promotion of their films to fun crafts that you can do at home. Disney wants to not only give you a great film to watch, they also want you to experience it. By crossing over from strictly films to various social media promotion, Disney has become even more successful than in the past.

Walt Disney Animation Studios seems to be involved with two particular social media platforms - Twitter and YouTube. Above is the link to their Twitter account, while another link will follow this post to their YouTube channel. I believe the studio is trying to constantly engage the consumer and break down the walls between “us” and “them”. By giving the audiences behind the scenes tours, crafts they can do at home, and insider tips - Disney is doing well in that strategy.

The organization I have decided to explore is Walt Disney Animation Studios. This company has also been known as Walt Disney Pictures or Walt Disney Studios. If you have been living under a rock for the past 90 or so years, this company creates animated films and makes dreams come true.
Walt Disney Animation Studios uses social media in the typical ways of any business in our world today. The company uses their social media platforms as ways to promote their films, as well as to grow their brand. With these modern platforms available, Disney has been able to expand and become an even bigger success in the last decade.

My final Klout score was 24.25, which is lower than I think it should be. But, I can understand why it is so low. I do not use my Twitter and Tumblr accounts for this course other than when I am required and I only post what I am assigned. I have a personal Twitter but I decided not to link the two for further confusion. I don’t have a lot of time for social media as I am getting older with more responsibilities, and this is probably why I do not post more than assigned work. At least my score came up from a 10 at the beginning of the course!

I gained 17 followers throughout this course on Twitter. All of my followers are my fellow classmates, none are individuals outside of the class.

This is my tweet that received the most engagement from my followers. I posted this to show my classmates what I was doing over the weekend, as well as wanted to get to know them better. I think the tweet was engaged with frequently because my classmates could relate and were interested in the same things as I was.

This is a retweet of mine that received no engagement from my followers. It was a retweet of a post by Julie Chen, host of The Talk, about Oprah coming on the show that day. I think it didn’t receive much engagement because it wasn’t necessarily funny, on top of being just another promotional tweet from a public persona.

This was my tweet that received the most retweets on my Twitter account. While none of my personal tweets received any, this one was a popular retweet with many users - it topped out at 91,000 retweets in total! I think it was so popular because it was timely, funny, and tongue in cheek about our political climate.

Julie Chen is an accomplished reporter, and currently a moderator/host on the daytime talk show, The Talk on CBS. I like her because she is a “digital immigrant”. However, she also does a great job at bringing immigrants and natives of the digital world together by having a professional, yet down to earth, personality that shines through television screens and social media accounts. Chen has about 358,000 followers on her Twitter account. Most of her tweets are regarding her television show, The Talk, whether it is advertising guests coming on in the coming week or a photo with the guest from that day. She is an all around great talent that I enjoy watching every day!

In my opinion, Facebook is only slightly responsible for the 2016 election results. I believe that people are capable of making their own choices, and I like to think that we are going to trust our own instincts rather than a fake article about either candidate on social media. However, I do know that there is a section of the population that is gulible enough to believe those lies.
With regard to the article, “5 Key Takaways About the State of the News Media in 2016″, I saw a lot of truth in the fourth point. This “fake news culture” was only fueled more by television networks, specifically cable networks. With ratings through the roof at these networks, they kept feeding the public these fake news stories. It might not be the greatest thing to say, but hey, at least it’s the truth for once.
Do you actually think that Hillary Clinton is running a child sex shop out of a pizza shop? Or Trump’s claim that we are experiencing high volumes of voter fraud in the United States? I don’t think I do, and neither should anyone else.
