@chuubibi 's #mermay prompts list sparked my interest! Espacially Buddha's hand! 🌟 I am so happy I finally found some time to indulge in mermaid content ❤️🤩 . At first I didn't really know what a Buddha's hand is (it's part of the citrus family), but it's bizarre form got my creative engines running and even tho I could have accentuated the "octopus" part, I love how my colors turned out! I had a blast realising these little linocut prints for @kunstautomaten ! I don't know how to put into words the positive overwhelm I felt this weekend and especially Sunday, during the opening of our atelier house 😍✨ . The preceding week was stressful, with a never-ending to do list, as I still had to officially move into my studio 😅 . Halfway through everything it clicked, that my furniture and I are the least interesting things about this opening and that I needed to display my art as good as possible. 🤦‍♀️ So Thursday I spend the whole day, going through everything, sorting what is still representative and what not, what I wanted to display and be seen. I searched my frames, collected over the years from second hand shops and gift boxes, for fitting ones and cleaned everyone of them, disassembling, framing my piece, reassembling, maybe fixing. 🛠️ This was one of the first times I saw my art, which is mostly drawn on loose sketchbook paper, framed and beautifully arranged. What a special feeling! ❤️❤️ . On Sunday came the next overwhelming positive feeling, when I got to see with my own eyes, how people react and observe my art, how their expression changed when they read my Zines, how they get pulled in by the stories ✨ It was really special to me! And I was, and still am! tremendously grateful ❤️🌟 . Sunday was a splendid experience, but also tiring, I had nearly no time to be with my friends outside, because I was always talking, connecting with someone new ❤️ I am happy for this! I am happy for the interest and the enriching talks I had. 😍 But as a person more to the introverted side of the spectrum, I was also happy when I could just shut up 😂 . Storytime! A while ago my talented art friend @houseplant.sketchbook, who is also a fellow houseplants aficionado, sended me the #dtiyschallenge from @stephanie.artdesign 🌿 We decided to participate in the challenge and to exchange the results. If you know my art, you know, that I am not so experienced with insects and plants but I like the challenge and I love to learn, so I took it on ✨🌞 My first attempt was miserable (you can see it in the last slide) and I didn't liked it at all. The composition was not so bad, but the colors were just off and flat. 😪 I decided to try again with traditional media. the watercolor on its own looked flat and I was really disappointed, because I thought I had messed it up again. I wasn't happy at all. the colors were better, more natural, but the values were flat. Luckily I decided to add some colored pencil, after all, I had nothing to lose. This time I liked it, especially after I darkened the darks and added some nuance to the central leaf. This is what you can see in the first few images ☺️🌞 to finalize the project I scanned the whole and printed it in postcard size to send on its way ❤️ . The moral of the story, if you need one, is that some pieces take multiple attempts and that in the middle of the process, artworks tend to look like shit. My WIP for #aprilfills 🦎🌚 The prompt of the day was "a jar of..." and it reminded me of the time Johan and I went to an amazing exhibition of malformed creatures preserved in formaldehyde (and other preservation techniques but hey!). 💀 . I did the sketch with a red col erase and made the linework with my completly messy fountain pen who does spill a lot on my fingers, but fortunatly never on my paper, and who has this nice feeling when I draw with it. I also love how thin the lines are! 🖤 If anyone wonders, it is from online (yeah I know super weird brand-name...) and the ink I'm using is from Pelikan. ☺️✒️ . Here's my interpretation of @eikkou's draw this in your style challenge! 🙌 I wanted to practice drawing POC and working on procreate and I like how the warm, but dark skin is complementing the gold of the tiara and earrings. I loved the original a lot too! Such a lovely and playful character ❤️ . 👉 the second image is the original artwork from the challenge. .
