I’m getting really tired of seeing people white-knighting for YouTubers.
What I mean by this is so many people within fandom feel a need to ‘protect’ content creators, whether that be from ships, hate comments, etc. The (vast majority) of people on YouTube are adults. They can take care of themselves, and if there is an issue with the fandom they’ll address it. I am so sick of people infantilizing them and speaking on their behalf, being self-righteous and jumping down others’ throats. How would they feel if they saw how some of you spoke to other fans? You do not obtain the moral high ground by being an ass to others. It is no one’s place to speak for them or to police other fans. I can’t think of much more to add to this, I just needed to get this off my chest. Please recognize Youtubers’ autonomy and stop.
