that one person in class who just casually dropped the r-word? Like, girl, what the FUCK are you doing? We’re in college, for crying out loud.

Why are we suddenly on board with normalizing hate speech? Did the word lose its meaning overnight?

I’m so done with people thinking they can get away with being assholes because “no one said anything.”

you’re not “just joking.” You’re not “expressing yourself.” You’re being an insensitive, immature piece of garbage who doesn’t give a damn about the people that word hurts.

No seriously when the fuck did we decide to just start using slurs again like it’s fine?? Like??? Am I the only one who remembers that we literally agreed this word is not okay?

today, in class, this person just says it out loud like mid-convo, all casual and no one even BLINKS. No double take. No awkward silence. No “hey, not cool.” NOTHING. Like it’s just a regular word now??

“oh, well maybe they didn’t mean it like that.” I don’t care how they meant it. It’s still fucking harmful. It still punches someone in the gut every time it’s said.

I don’t know what alternate universe I woke up in where we apparently forgot that it’s a slur, but here we are.

Y’all even got kids saying it. Kids. Little kids out here repeating that word like it’s just part of everyday slang. No seriously, my younger sister mentioned it in a conversation the other day and I immediately stopped her. I was like, “Where did you hear that word?” And she goes, “From YouTube.”

Like damn. We spent YEARS trying to get people to understand why that word is harmful , why it should’ve been left in the grave forever and now we’re passing it down like it’s a fucking family heirloom? What the hell are we doing?? How are we still failing this hard at something this basic?

You don’t protect women by treating them like they’re too dumb or weak to make decisions about their own lives.

If you really want to protect people, fight for better sex education, consent laws that address power imbalances, and support for survivors. But stop pretending that criminalizing adult relationships is some kind of feminist act.

Because raising the age of consent to 21 doesn’t protect women . it just says we’ll never be trusted to know what we’re doing.

Can we please stop infantilizing women?

If your feminism takes agency from women, is it really feminism? or is it you repeating the same old story just in a different clothes?

"the age of consent should be 21" is alot like "the death penalty should include sex offenders" as twitter discourse topics, in the sense that i feel like the people bringing up those 'hot takes" barely believe in them and are only using them as a morality test because they think the only reason you would be opposed to them is because you're a evil pervert and not because actually trying to make those laws actionable in reality would have pretty natural consequences that noone advocating for them is actually thinking about.
