Wishful Thinking
A/N: Also posted this on Wattpad
__
Hojung shook her head again, not able to register what she was seeing.
"So... you're a pixie, and I'm not dreaming?" Hojung clarified.
"For literally the eleventh time, yes. Can I finish speaking now?" Jongdae, the pointy-eared, blue-haired, 3-inched creature that reminded Hojung of Yoda crossed with a smurf said, annoyed.
"Yeah, okay, so... what were you saying again?"
Jongdae grumbled and rolled his eyes. "Because you freed me, you get 3 wishes-"
"How did I free you?"
"STOP INTERRUPTING ME! You opened the hot magic portal door," Jongdae gestured to the oven, to which Hojung giggled. "So anyway, to repay your kindness, I will grant three wishes. For you, milady."
"I think I'm drunk," Hojung said, unsure. "Can we do this later? I'll ring you up when I need you."
"Wise. Sure thing. I don't know how you will 'ring me up', but if all else fails, just pluck on one of the leaves of this clover. I will come immediately."
With that, the smurf-yoda-pixie called Jongdae disappeared.
Hojung woke up with a start, a ruckus in the kitchen. She cursed under her breath as she rolled out of bed, landing on the carpet beside her bed, passively thinking of how it needed a good vacuuming.
"Who's there?" She said aloud. Hojung did not live alone, but her housemate, Irene, was in K-Con, in Japan, and wouldn't be back until Sunday, which wasn't until three days.
As if a dream came to reality, she saw her brother making what she would assume to be breakfast.
"Joongki?" Her brother had been overseas for as long as she could remember, doing his medical research in the US since she graduated high school. Until recently, she hadn't been hearing from him. Now, she assumes he's back in Korea to introduce to mum his soon-to-be fiancée.
"Hojung-ah. I asked around, and some of your friends told me you live here. So predictable of you to leave the keys under the doormat. It's dangerous, you know. Letting in some random strangers into the house."
"Good morning to you too." Hojung completely ignored her brother, grabbing her towel from the dryer and heading to the bathroom. "And welcome to my house."
"I'm making pancakes!" Joongki hollered from the kitchen, to which Hojung, once again, ignored.
As strange as the occurrence was, Hojung swore that the Yoda-scene in her head had to be a dream. It was utter bullshit. She shook off the thought that she might have wished her brother home – meaning Korea – by the Yoda-creature. Again, it was hard to believe. So she simply chose not to.
But another strange occurrence took place later that day. She tested the contents of her weird dream, plucking a leaf of the three-leaved clover she found in her purse – coincidence? It's a long shot.
With that as another drive to test it out, she plucked the leaf off of the clover and waited, in a stall of the public toilet on her campus – not a smart move – and the smurf-yoda-pixie appeared, startling Hojung so much that she fell, sat on the wet, filthy floor with a slosh.
"Gross," Jongdae muttered, and then, "Have you got a wish yet?"
Confused, and at the spur of the moment, Hojung blurted out, "I want to make it to the basketball team."
Jongdae, tilted his head, "You're weak. Nevertheless, granted. Go to the try-outs tomorrow."
"Alright, I'm done here." With that and a blue cloud of smoke, the 'being' was gone.
"That's two wishes gone," Hojung murmured to herself as she walked out of the stall, receiving judgmental, cold looks from two dolled-up girls, probably because it seemed like she was talking to herself, or maybe it was the wet spot on the back of her skirt.
_
At the basketball try-outs, she caught eyes with Kris Wu, the heart-throb captain, sitting front and centre of the panellists, and, wow, did she feel faint. Hojung doubted her ability to execute the routine, but trusted the smurf-yoda Jongdae fully, considering he brought her brother to her apartment, even before she awoke.
She cleared her voice and started to introduce herself, trying to be as cheerful and bubbly as she could get herself to despite the frown-inducing marks she scored in Add Maths the period before, and the fight that broke out between her and her best friend, Jiyong. Yes, it was an awful day for her, but now's not the time to break into tears; especially not in front of Kris Wu.
"Just start. We know who you are." One of the panellists, Cynthia (who always seemed more interested in her nails than anything else in the world) snapped at her before she could go on.
So she did, and undeterred of the bored looks from Cynthia, majority of the panel seemed pleased.
"You're in. See you next week Tuesday."
_
"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god," Hojung rambled on the phone as soon as she got home. "I got into the basketball team!" She was on the phone with Jinkyung, a childhood friend.
"Tell me all. about. it." And of course, the enthusiasm would be positively reciprocated.
"And Kris Wu, he looked at me! Right into the soul!" She sighed dramatically, letting her body collapse onto the bed. A wide grin was etched onto her face as she reminisced the brief encounter.
"He seems soo dreamy." Jinkyung sang jokingly. "Mind sharing?"
"Ya, is one boyfriend a week not enough for you?" Hojung laughed. "You're so hard to tie down."
"Hojung, I gotta go. Jun is here. I promise I'll text you." Jinkyung hung up, leaving Hojung to her own thoughts yet again.
_
That night, halfway through her homework, Joongki (who surprisingly hadn't left) came into her room.
"You left your purse on the table." He placed it on her table. "Also, I cooked dinner. Come out, will you?"
Hojung looked at the purse, noticing the clover still in there, its stem peeking out. "I'll join you in a moment." She looked at her brother with an impassive smile.
When her brother left the room, she took out the clover. "One last wish."
With a pluck of its last leaf (hey, that's only three leaves - not lucky?), she summoned Jongdae.
"I was in the middle of a shower." The big-eared yoda-smurf, now red in the face, held fast to the towel around its waist.
"I'm sorry. I'll make this quick. I want Kris Wu and me to have a happily ever after." She whispered, and signalled for Jongdae to be quieter too.
"Who says that? 'Have a happily ever after'?" Jongdae laughed. "One, I can't tamper with the laws of love, life, and death. Secondly, even if I could, that particular request, would be a waste of my time to... 'grant'." He said, adding quotation marks to his last word.
"So, I need to wish for something else? You can't grant me that?" She whisper-screamed.
"Cheer up, buttercup, I don't need to grant you stuff like that. Why don't you ask for me to be set free instead?"
Hojung sat down on her swivel chair. "Set you free? Did I not do that?"
"Not from the hot portal thing, god. From this curse. I don't really want to spend an eternity being summoned and granting wishes."
"I need a backstory."
"I need you to wish me out of this curse."
"You'll tell me if I do?"
"Definitely." Jongdae grinned, his ears standing upright, wriggling.
Hojung contemplated, "But Kris Wu..." She looked at Jongdae. He could only give her a shrug. "Okay. I wish for you to be set free."
Jongdae nodded, lips tightly pursed. "I will forever owe you. If you still want to know what happened, meet me at the cafe downstairs Sunday morning. My treat."
And with that, smurf-man vanished yet again.
Sunday morning came, Irene had come back from K-Con and her Hojung's brother left, so Hojung went to the cafe. She entered the cafe, bustling with other students who lived in the area, but Jongdae was nowhere to be seen.
But he spot her and waved his hand so she could see him. Hojung stared at him strangely.
"Um, do I know you?"
"Jongdae, stupid. I'm not a pixie anymore."
"Oh. Yoda. You look..." she scanned him again, from head to toe. "Nice."
"Huh. Good enough. So backstory right?"
“Right.” She took the seat opposite Jongdae and smoothened out her skirt.
“For quite a while I was into black magic and stuff, a group of friends and I kind of got a little deep into it. We had this Jumanji board sort of thing and we actually summoned weird stuff. Like things started happening. Okay, maybe it was like a Ouija board more than Jumanji.”
“That’s besides the point. How did you turn into a pixie?”
“The thing that came out of the board put me in it. Like we switched places kind of thing. My friends probably don’t know that I’ve escaped, probably because someone played with the board. But during the time I was inside, it was almost as if I blacked out. Like a strange dream. But since my ‘powers’ worked on you, I guess it isn’t.”
“Why’d you choose me?”
“Because you know one of the guys who played with the board before I got trapped. Bet they didn’t even try to get me out of there. And honestly, if you didn’t set me free, I’d be bound to that horrible board my whole life, probably. They say your soul won’t rest easy if you have black magic bound to you, and it’s probably harder to detach from it once you’re dead. So thanks, I kind of owe my life to you now.”
“It’s kind of a hard story to believe.”
“Then you can ask Kris why he left me.”
Hojung was confused. “Kris? He’s your friend?”
“Yeah. He’s forgiven, but only because you like him and you helped me.”
“Jongdae, I’m so sorry. This is all hard to believe, but it must have been so difficult on you.”
“No worries.”
“Hey, don’t mean to bug you about it again, but what did you mean when you said it would be a waste of time for you to grant me that last wish?”
Jongdae’s cheeks turned red. Hojung raised her brows. “What?”
“Nothing. Okay, something.”
“Are you going to tell me?”
“Um... it’s just, during my time as a pixie, I could see glimpses of the future.”
“Kris and I ended up together?”
Jongdae paused. “I guess, yeah.”
“You guess?”
“But he was an asshole and that ended up badly, okay? Let’s not talk about it.”
“Oh.” Hojung’s face dropped, the mood darkened. “I guess I can do with not dating another asshole.”
“Yeah.” Jongdae shrugged.”
“You look like you have something more to say.”
“I do.” Jongdae continued. “Wanna go out for coffee sometime? This café kinda sucks.”
“I can’t agree more.”
And with that, the pixie and the girl never spent a day apart. The end.

Mermaid Tears
My ex gave me a paragraph-long prose with what he deemed “the best plot twist ever”. I think that was the last time we laughed together.
**
Footsteps outside my door - I knew he was coming for me, and I knew why. As much as I thought I loved him, was it enough to let him take away my life?
His footsteps became louder; I shut my eyes and pulled the duvet to my chin, muttering prayers in my head.
The door creaked open, a ray of light aligning with my eyes. I winced. I could hear him saying a string of apologies under his breath.
The bed was pushed down on my right from his weight, and his hands snaked up my leg under the sheets. He placed another hand on my left, near my shoulder.
He hovered inches away from my face, and his breath fell, making me open my eyes.
“Arin.” I had to act surprised - I could barely make him out in the dark but I knew it was him from his smell - like musk and sex.
My voice shattered like glass when I said his name - only then did I realise what a vulnerable position I was in.
His left hand shifted, I caught a glint of what I supposed would be the end of me.
He placed a kiss on my lips, gentle and coaxing, hands reaching places I wouldn’t dare mention.
Exchanged wanton breaths escalate into strained moans, where I lost myself in his strangely glassy eyes.
Just as he pulled away, he buried the glimmering object into the deep of my neck. The deep, thick red painted the bed - my body slick with sweat now even more so, vibrantly.
It went all over, like a serpent through the water, up and under and into, and I searched his face for any trace of emotion - regret, sympathy, love, satisfaction if it really is - but his face was stoic and set in stone. My heart and lungs sank together.
I helplessly gurgled and choked and suffocated into myself - the last thing I see being a man I thought I knew, the man I used to love, the man I no longer know.
Even in the blackness, I could see my own reflection in his eyes - so desperate, grasping for familiarity in the sight before me, but it’s much too late.
He’d left me, and I left everything as the velvety crimson conquered my attempts for air.

Baekhyun and Eunjoo, post Finishing Line
original story
Dedicated to OhDorkyJongin on Wattpad, happy reading! Please be assured of a happier ending this time, hehe. No deaths involved:)
23.01.2014 (Friday)
10.00 am
Eunjoo paced back and forth inside the toilet of the apartment, the one Baekhyun lived in with Eunjung, and then with Chanyeol, and then her two years ago. The one Eunjung and him had repainted and renovated together (with the help of Jongin’s contractor buddies).
She was a little envious of the fact Baekhyun was still a little attached to Eunjung, but nothing would make her stop loving him completely. Seriously, how could he forget about Eunjung when the very place they lived in was a constant reminder of her? Eunjoo didn’t blame Baekhyun. The fact that they’re married puts her a level above Eunjung.
Going back to the weight of the matter; Eunjoo looked down to the plastic object in her grip, nervous of Baekhyun’s reaction when he hears about this. How was she going to tell him?
Eunjoo stepped out of the toilet anyway, confronting it as she would to anything - ignoring variables, as Baekhyun described it. Eunjoo never liked needing to weigh everything before jumping into a confrontation, she wasn’t as calculating as Baekhyun was.
The petite man was sitting on the couch, two stacks of exam papers on each of his sides, one marked and another in the waiting. Even though it was a school holiday, the teacher’s work is never done.
“Baekkie-ah,” Eunjoo looked at him. “Do you want help?”
The latter looked at her strangely. “This is very suspicious of you, but go ahead. Here’s the answer scheme.” He passed her a sheet of paper and a red pen. “Is there something important you want to say?” Baekhyun had seen right through her.
Eunjoo smiled sheepishly. “As a matter of fact, yes, but it’s more than just important, so you have to give your full attention.”
“Okay, then we’ll do this quick.” Baekhyun glanced at the decreasing pile of papers to be marked and sighed.
After a two hours of marking the form 5 add maths papers, Eunjoo could have sworn she had memorized the answers to every question, along with the workings. The two monotonously slaved over the pile until there was nothing left.
“Thanks, Eunjoo. Now what was the thing you were talking about?”
Eunjoo rushed back to the room and came back with a pregnancy test, passing it to Baekhyun. “Um,” she said slowly, “it’s positive.”
Baekhyun first had a look of disbelief, but soon cracked a smile. “Call up your mom and dad, and your friends too. I’ll do the same, we’ll have a party on Sunday.”
Eunjoo couldn’t believe how easily Baekhyun accepted it. True, his mother has been asking for grandchildren since their wedding a few months back, but she never knew Baekhyun felt the same.
“I love you, you know.” Baekhyun pecked her cheek shyly, grabbed his phone and called Chanyeol first.

The last of the stars; part 2
dedicated to alyssa, best wishes on your journey down the path of fan-fiction writing.
4.6.2015 - A cafe in Guangzhou
The last of the three boys sat down, a remorseful expression lingering at the edge of his lips.
“No matter how successful an actor you are right now,” Luhan started, eyeing the red highlights at the ends of his hairs, ignoring the upset feeling that overcame him when he heard of the news, “I know that expression just a little too well.” The cocky side of Luhan never disappeared prior to leaving EXO.
Kris did not give a reply to that. Instead, he turned to Zitao. “Why’d you call us up? I missed you, by the way.”
Zitao didn’t even bother replying to Kris’s sugarcoated words. “Do you know how hard it was for me to go on without you guys? My dad wants me to quit the group.” Zitao paused, tears collecting in his eyes. “I’m scared, Kris, Luhan, I really am. I’m not like you guys - you have the looks, the talents; how am I going to survive on my own?”
“You can, of course you can. Maybe you don’t have to quit the group. I guess you can just go on hiatus while you recover.” Luhan suggested. “I mean, if that’s what you want, of course.”
“What do you mean ‘if that’s what you want’?” Zitao’s tears had started flowing; like they once used to when they watched Miracles in Cell No.7 together for the EXO Showtime’s shoot; but these were tears of real fear, anger, confusion. Even betrayal.
“No, I’m done with EXO - that’s what my dad wants. But what will I do after that?”
Luhan smiled, “You can make a career like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan if you’d like, but that’s hard if you’re aiming for a classy image. You don’t have to look far - Kris’s career is pretty classy, just look at him, doing photoshoots with Kendall Jenner.”
Kris sheepishly smacks Luhan on the shoulder. “Don’t mention it, seriously. It totally tainted my image.”
“Anyway, I heard EXO released a new MV. A repackaged album again? Let’s get real, they’re making people buy two albums for an extra song. Just like XOXO and Growl. Zitao, were you there for the recordings?”
“Nah, I was put out of the last one. I was in China for Chao Shen Zhan Dui shooting. The song’s name was Love Me Right. Yixing looked pretty good.”
“See, you’re already doing well on your own. You’re not even officially out yet. You’ll be fine.” Kris comforted. “If you want to come over to my place sometime, you’re welcome.” Kris scrawled his address at the back of his business card.
“You never told me that.” Luhan said, a mock hurt expression on his face. Kris rolled his eyes, getting up from his seat. He donned his fur coat, a smirk on his face.
“That’s because I know you don’t need to be invited.” Kris paused, properly facing them before walking out of the door. “See you later, boys. Be well. I have a feeling we’ll be meeting again quite soon.”
With that, the boys dispersed to continue with their daily activities.

Monochrome
Wu Yifan is not color blind, he’s far beyond that. He sees the world in black and white. It’s been that way ever since he was born - he doesn’t know otherwise. That is, until he meets an impatient, quirky and narcissistic (almost as much as he is) ophthalmologist who works at the hospital that he’s doing his residency at.
Her name… what was it again? Oh, yeah, Jessica. Jessica Jung.

The War Of The Colours
In HS24, there are only three sports houses - all by the name of primary colours. Each leader has a strong drive to lead their team to victory and all of them have an equal chance of winning.
Leading the blue team is Kim Woobin and assistant Lee Yubi, a couple that has been going strong for three years, and they are highly competitive. Being the leader of the rich kids’ team; their goal is to prove to the rest that they can be independent in working towards their victory - meaning no fussy mothers involved.
The red team is lead by two international students; Huang Zitao and Tiffany Hwang. If they win, Zitao wants to confess to Tiffany.
The yellow team, known for their egoistic ways, are challenged to change their mascot from a tiger to some other animal, because they have been tigers for 20 years straight. Can Seo Kangjoon and Jessica Jung lead their team to victory?
Who will be this year’s victor?

Royal Pain
"I never asked for this." The 16-year-old hormonal princess, Bae Juhyun, grumbles every time she is asked to be in her best behaviour. Life has never been good for Juhyun, being pushed around by her parents; whether it's stuffing herself into a corset, sit cross-ankled, or marry an obnoxious zitty-faced prince from some kingdom whose name she can't even pronounce. Yeah, his name is Eric or something. That's the very least of her concern, actually.
