And I regret sleeping with Aphrodite. I stopped that the moment you told me you liked me. But none of it was ever to specifically hurt you. I didn’t seek them out on purpose because they were close to you. Tobias is a different story, one I am leaving between him and me. But it wasn’t to hurt you either, though I know it has.” She covered her face, letting her hair fall over her hands as well, trying to contain all the emotions inside of her, just listening to him. She knew it didn’t matter what she wanted now. She couldn’t blame him for not trusting her any more. “See? This hurts. It hurts to not even be your friend. That’s why I can’t do this whole liking someone or dating someone thing.” She said, wiping away tears before they could fall. “I understand though. So you should do whatever you have to do. I know it’s stupid to say no, but I don’t want you to be hurt any more.”

“ i’m making you feel that way ? ” he scoffed , “ i can hear you aline , i get it , you didn’t think you were deserving of love . you didn’t think anyone would care , you didn’t think that i would care , i get it . i do but what i don’t get is how you thought that this was okay . i don’t get why you think that telling me that you’re just a ‘ terrible person ’ is enough of a reason for me to forgive you or for me to just ... ” shrugging as he struggled to find the right words to say . “ i don’t know , move on but it doesn’t . you feeling bad , you having other people in your life treat you poorly doesn’t make up for the things that you did . those are all choices that you made , i didn’t make you , aphrodite didn’t make you , tobias didn’t make you . you did that . it doesn’t matter if you thought i didn’t like you , it doesn’t matter if you thought it didn’t matter , if you were my friend then you wouldn’t have done that because friends do not fuck your family . ” he was practically yelling at this point so he paused forcing himself to take a breath before saying . “ what i need is for you to just admit that you were never my friend , that you never cared about me in that way because if you did , if you did you would have never done that . you would have never made the choice to hurt me in that way because friends don’t hurt you . intentionally or unintentionally and when they do , they try and make up for it , they don’t make excuses or try and act like it didn’t happen . they don’t keep playing with your feelings like you’re doing to me every single day . ”

georgia rolled her eyes heavily. “i’m not worried about you, i’m not worried about anyone.” she spoke with a little huff. “so don’t think for a second you’ve managed to worm your way into my good graces.” she said with a little huff. “what a bitch.” georgia said, shaking her head.  “look- kaiden you’re a little shit but if you need someone to talk to, i’ll give you grace’s number cos i sure as hell won’t listen.” she said and gave him a small nudge. “you okay though ?” she asked just to make sure.

“ my bad how could i have forgotten you sold your heart to the wiz in exchange for fame and eternal beauty . ” there’s a part of him that flinched at the thought of anyone calling his mom a bitch , hate her or not , she’s my mom ... but he couldn’t quite bring himself to say anything about it . “ i have grace’s number , she bailed me out of jail once . ” he paused to ponder the question before nodding , “ yeah . i’m alright but if you wanna make out a little that’ll make me feel much better . ”

mael shifts in his seat when he talks about aline that way, but he’s too stoned to pry on it. he’s just joking after all, right? he better be. still, he doesn’t say anything regarding that, not one for conflict. “from life, of course. things can be overwhelming sometimes and i feel like… i need an escape. don’t we all though?” he can’t be the only one. he refuses to believe so. at the mention of reindeer’s, he furrows his eyebrows in confusion. “those things are real? i thought they were just myth’s for santa claus.” the worst part? he’s not even remotely joking. it’s evident he isn’t the brightest guy out there, but his intentions are good. “iceland is just an idea, but i wouldn’t be opposed to a getaway. i feel like it’s real peaceful there.”

“ you should then . take a break , everyone needs to sometimes . ” he nodded to himself taking another hit of the joint as his mind drifted off to day dreams of leaving the city and never coming back only to be drawn back to earth at the other’s reindeer comment . “ that’s what i thought too but no , they’re totally real , i saw one at the zoo . ” handing the joint back as he rattled off his zoo adventure . meeting varius animals , holding a bird and scrubbing down a tortoises' shell , “ the zoo is my favorite place . you should go , i’ll come with you , i’ll buy you chicken tenders in the food court . they’re actually really good which you wouldn’t expect from a place called peacock plaza . ”

“I know I keep saying the same thing, but it feels like every time I say it, people are invalidating my feelings or not listening to me. It frustrates me to no end,” she explained, lips pursing from the frustration of feeling like he wasn’t really hearing her, that no one ever was. “I know you keep saying I should have known that you liked me, but I had no idea. Maybe I don’t know what affection feels like or I just interpreted it as friends, but it didn’t get through my thick skull that the way you treated me was any different or special. So I went off and fucked people because I was lonely and sad and pathetic.” It was what she always did, find comfort and love from people through sex that never meant anything. But for a little while she could pretend she mattered at least. His words hurt though and caused a panic inside of her, which was never good because her big mouth tended to spew things she really didn’t want revealed. “Because I do want you! I do like you! I can imagine what being with you would be like and how wonderful and happy it would be and all I can think about is all the ways I would mess it up. I’ve already made such a mess of things and I’m scared that all I’ll do with you is mess things up even more. And I know that with you, it will hurt so much worse than it would with anyone else. But I can’t seem to stop myself from doing and saying stuff like that because I’m an idiot.”

“ and i’m just people . ” he felt like ice cold fire was running through his body both chilling him to his bones and setting every inch of him alight . “ i’m people who aren’t listening to you and invalidating your feelings ... ” he nodded quietly to himself . “ you didn’t just sleep with someone , you didn’t fuck my barber or even my best friend , you picked my twin sister and my god father . even if you were just my friend that would still piss me off because friends don’t fuck your family ! ” it felt odd having to explain this to yet another person he’d thought would never betray him in this way . a hand dragged over his face as he debated just walking away , it felt like they were getting nowhere , like they were playing the same conversation on a loop and neither one was really listening anymore . then she said the thing he least expected to hear . “ wait , what ? ” lip tucked between his teeth as he nodded . why couldn’t she have said that before... scared he understood , scared he could work through , “ i want...or maybe wanted...you too . i don’t know how i feel anymore because when i’m with you i still feel really warm and happy but i also feel ... hurt . deeply , deeply , hurt because i don’t trust you anymore ... ” sighing quietly as he shrugged . “ i don’t know if we can still be friends . i don’t know that we should . i think we bring out a bad side in each other . ” or maybe that was just what he told himself because the thought of allowing himself to be hurt again felt like walking into a war zone with nothing but his heart to protect him .

“ well i guess you could tell me now , you’re so pretty that nothing could make me stop loving you , just don’t start with my bad qualities . i’m sensitive you know , i’ll burst out into tears if you’re mean to me . ” he teased his eyes follow her fingers as they trail up his arm brows furrowing together in confusion . he’d always been pretty good at picking up on signals but as of late he’d been second guessing himself . unsure of if he knew , what he thought he knew , he brushed right past it . “ i’ll do all the work , you just sit there and be cute . ” stepping onto the paddle boat before holding out a hand to her , waiting until she was sat and ( semi ) comfortable before he started moving them out onto the lake .
