So, I have a love for plants and being able to have plants anywhere like small spaces is a huge plus. With limited options to come up with a piece of art I thought I want to make a small plant vase, and that's what I did. During the process it was a lot of trial and error to make my sculpture look like it did in my head, which made the process fun and I did learn a lot about patience and making art.
How did I make my " Mini Vase"...
Mixing clay and water until the clay was thick enough to begin sculpting
Using a poetry wheel I began slowly making its shape, keeping my hands wet with water at all times so the clay doesn't dry
using sculpting tools I made its vase look
Air drying it for 24 hours- I have a completed, successful "Mini Vase"
Title: "Mini Vase"

Group 4. INTERACTIVE DESIGN– What is it?
Interactive design focuses on designing the interactions between users and a product (digital) to create meaningful and effective experiences.
Top Five Interactive Designs, According to Katelyn.
What makes a good interactive design to YOU?
I believe a good interactive design is something exciting that is familiar for what you’re looking for in regards to the context of the design. A good interactive design has important information as an intro almost when you look on the website.
What is the intent for the site/app you chose?
This is the site I chose because it has a variety if designs about Nike products in the intro of the website, and can possibly make it easy for what product your browsing for.
Does it fulfill its purpose? (4 sentences)
Yes, the website and interactive design fulfills its purpose because of the well organized layout. When looking or shopping for something online it can get overwhelming when you’re trying to maneuver through the website. Having an interactive design you can, for example, see a shoe you would like to purchase on the website and click right on it and see it in a 3D version.

2. ART AND WRITING - Select a work of art from your life. It must be something that hangs in your house or your room, something that is important to you or that you look at everyday. Include a picture. In paragraph form (4 sentences), tell me about the art – what media were used to create it? What use does it serve? Do you think it is beautiful? Why?
What I chose from my home is three hand painted, thin cut tree trunks that have been in my family for 50-60 years. They always hung in my houses as a kid, so they bring me a certain type of familiarity, a comfort. They are Native American paintings, they make me feel strong and remind me to keep going. I do think they are beautiful simply because they are hand painted and hand drawn, it gives them a lot of meaning.
3. WRITING A SELF-PORTRAIT - Create a perceptual profile. What “baggage” are you bringing along when you look at art? Answer the following questions – How old are you? I am 33 years old.
What is the gender you primarily align with? Female
Where are you from? Buffalo, NY
What is your ethnicity? White
What do you do for fun? Beach, pool, and walking are my top three hobbies.
Are you a member of any organized group? No, but I would like that to change.
Where do you work? Sarasota Memorial Hospital
What makes you uniquely you? My heart and sense of humor, the ability to overcome many challenges I’ve faced.
This helps us see from what exact point in the world we view and receive visual information.
4. ART PROJECT (SELF-PORTRAIT) – Look at the work of Romare Bearden in Revel or online. He created collages that combine media (gouache, pencil, colored pencil) and photographs to express things from his life that he thought people could universally relate to. He was representing himself powerfully long before the advent of selfies.
What are you fascinated by in your daily life? Create a self-portrait that somehow represents YOU. This could be a selfie (remember this is ART - your representation should encompass the definition as introduced in our text, and this is a graded assignment), a virtual collage, anything you assemble that communicates something to the viewer. But don’t let me (or anyone else) limit you – be as creative as you desire! Think about HOW your self-portrait will elevate the viewer's understanding of the subject = you.

TO DO: 1. As an introduction, tell us one little known fact about you. This is worth 20 points for this Discussion. The rest of the items on this list will be cut/pasted into your Tumblr blog and are worth 30 out of the 100 points for your Virtual Sketchbook 1.
My name is Katelyn, I'm 33 years old and have two daughters and a dog named Mooch. Im originally from Buffalo, NY home of the chicken wings, well Buffalo wings. That's probably the only thing I miss about home.
2. Then, in list form, detail 5 new facts you were able to find out about your assigned artist or the art work. (30 points)
1. Researchers believe it was a fertility symbol or figurine
2. This is considered one of the oldest known works of art
3. Originated in Austria
4. The lack of face suggest it may have been apart if symbolic or ritual practices
5. Currently located in Natural History Museum in Vienna, Austria
3. Write a short paragraph (4 sentences) answering these questions: Did the way you think about the art change from the first time you looked at it? Do you see anything different in the art now? (50 points)
When I first saw this piece I immediately loved it, I feel it is so powerful especially to a woman. The more I look at it, the more it makes sense what this piece represents. I personally see a woman comfortable with her body, comfortable that all women are shaped different and its ok to have larger natural features. Going back and looking at the figurine I thought maybe this is a symbol of a woman that is stuck or judged. Looking closer I notice her head is down, like being shamed and then I wondered is she comfortable, is she embarrassed? You can get a lot from this piece and I do feel a couple different emotions. Strength, confusion, shame and also embraced.
