i know people will think i’m delusional when i say this and that’s fair, i guess. but as someone with a degree in media criticism and as a queer person who has taken the time to understand the ways our oppression and *suppression* manifests, but it is just obvious to me that midoriya and bakugo were intended to be canonically in love and the story is censored *just enough* to make it ambiguous to most. i could be write a whole essay on it, but it’s clear through constant repeated symbolism AND literal interactions that they are in love and end up together in the end. everyone talks about “how are they not canon” but no one talks about how maybe they ARE in love but they can’t be “””explicitly””” because of homophobia. idk just some of my thoughts…

BKDK dynamic is actually INSANE when you really break it down. Like, Childhood friends to enemies to rivals to trauma bonded codependents to soulmates who cannot function unless the other is within a 10-foot radius??? Shakespeare WISHES. Bakugou is the walking embodiment of explosive repression and misplaced anger and Deku is the poster child of chronic self-sacrifice and internalized inadequacy. And somehow they orbit each other like dysfunctional planets that still manage to pull the other into a better trajectory every time. Like… you’re telling me Bakugou spent YEARS bullying this kid and the second Deku gets strong enough to push back, Bakugou has a full existential crisis and starts examining his ENTIRE WORLDVIEW?? And Deku? DEKU??? The same Deku who idolized Bakugou to an unhealthy level, who was hurt and humiliated but never hated him??? WHO FORGAVE HIM BEFORE BAKUGOU EVEN APOLOGIZED?? And don’t even get me STARTED on that apology. That beautifully raw “I’m sorry for everything i did” moment. Like, what do you MEAN Bakugou “doesn’t do feelings” but he literally got on the battlefield, bloody and bruised, and confessed that he’d been hating himself this whole time for how he treated Deku?? That’s not enemies to lovers, that’s penance to redemption to mutual devotion. Their bond is so charged it might as well be another Quirk. And no one NO ONE gets Deku like katsuki does. Not All Might. Not the rest of Class 1A. Not even his mom. Bakugou sees him. The power. The self-destruction. The loneliness. And Deku?? He never stopped seeing the good in Bakugou, even when Bakugou couldn’t see it in himself. their bond isnt about fixing each other, its about growth through fire. They crash into each other like tectonic plates and create something stronger every time. I don’t care if it’s canon or not, BKDK is endgame in every universe where love wins. Anyway...!

In the recent fan book, they asked hori "Which character’s story did you enjoy telling the most?" and he said Katsuki and izuku

"If we're talking about enjoying hardship and struggle, then probably Deku and Katsuki. The two of them felt like they were always walking a tightrope. If they made even the slightest mistake, everything would fall apart. Because of that tension, they were very rewarding to draw, and I'm glad I was able to do so."

Hori saying “reread the source material and use your imagination” is not a dig at shippers, it is him literally saying he does not care how you interpret the last volume, that if iz///ch is your thing you can use your imagination to fill in the gaps

It’s not a win for the iz////ca crowd, it’s him admitting he does not care about that ship at all. If you like it, sure. What you do with everything between the lines and post-canon is on you.

But what did Hori care about? His favorite relationship to write was Izuku and Katsuki. He has nothing to say about iz////ch but he loved writing bkdk. That’s not ambiguous at all my friends.
