My Buddy G Unit Beg for Mercy (2003)
I came across this song while stalking somebody on Myspace. It's nice a little mesh of several classic audio clips: The "My Buddy" commercial from the 80's, Scarface, and whatever that sample is in the intro. I swear I've heard it before. Where is it from? Anyway, My Buddy is about love affair between a man and his gun. 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, and Young Buck spit solid verses over a quality melody. Personally, I would have chosen a different bass drum + snare combo, but it's a very good track nevertheless. It's gangster. It's original. It can get downright cute at times. Grab a buddy and give it a listen.

Unforgiven II Metallica Reload (1997)
I didnt become a Metallica fan until 2008. That's when I started listening to all the albums and liked what I heard. Before that, I didn't like Metallica. . I heard Korn's version of "One" and liked it, and then I listened to Metallica's version and I thought it was way too long. One of the first few full albums that I downloaded was Load and Reload. The grungy-hard rock styles on those albums is what opened me up to the harder, faster metal stuff. And today I enjoy Metallica's 8-minute epics. But I cannot forget about the ballads. I remember when Unforgiven II came out, and watching this video today brings back memories of the 90's, watching music videos on MTV (when they used to show music videos) and on a certain network called "The Box" that showed nothing but music videos 24/7. Unforgiven II is my favorite in the Unforgiven trilogy. I like the vocals and the flow of the lyrics better. And it just sounds different; it has it's own little vibe. It's the only one without the word "the" in the title. Weird.

Twas the Night Before Christmas Snoop Dogg & Nate Dogg
Just in time for Christmas Eve, I bring you a gangster version of Twas the Night Before Christmas. I'm not sure what album it is on or what year it came out, but I wanted to share it with you. Gather your children round and take a listen to a new Christmas classic.
Twas the night before Christmas When all through the hood, Aint shit that was stirrin'. Nope, it was all good. The stocking was hung On my big fat dick. We was hopin' to get some of that good shit From ol' jolly St. Nick. The children were snuggled up; Sleeping in bed. My bitch on my jock; Giving holiday head. When outside my crib, There arose such a clatter. I stuck my head out and yelled, "What the fuck is the matter?" Then a fat, red pimp Got out of his ride. It was perfectly clear He was from the north side. Yo Santa, wassup?Did you bring me some chronic? And Tanqueray gin I can mix with my tonic? He said, "Ho, ho, ho" and opened his sack. It was stuffed full of indo Had to take a step back. Is this for the Dogg? Did you bring this for me? To blaze with my hos And my closest homies? He just nodded his head His eyes about shut It was then that I knew That St. Nick was fucked up. He ate all my mother fuckin cookies I left on the plate. Then he went in the fridge, And he ate, and he ate, and that fat mother fucker ate. And when he was done, When the cupboard was bare, He packed his shit up and got out of there. "Good night Doggy Dogg" he said from the sky. "Merry Christmas to all you mother fuckers and to all a good high."

Death Rattle Pantera Reinventing the Steel (2000)
A death rattle, known clinically as terminal respiratory secretions or simply terminal secretions, is a sound often produced by someone who is near death when fluids such as saliva and bronchial secretions accumulate in the throat and upper chest. It is sometimes misinterpreted as the sound of the person choking to death, or alternatively, that they are gargling.
That is what Wikipedia says is a death rattle. Pantera's Death Rattle tells a story about years of abusing drugs inducing the death rattle. The song is high-energy, it's heavy, and it kicks your fuckin ass. Reinventing the Steel is my favorite Pantera album because it sounds raw, the riffage is groove metal gold, the production value is awesome. There are better songs than this one on there, but there's a reason why I wanted to share this one.
If the song sounds familiar, you've probably heard the edited version of this track is found in the Spongebob Squarepants episode, Pre-Hibernation Week.
It's the episode where Sandy takes Spongebob to do some fun and extreme activities the week before she has to hibernate. These extreme activities include:
extreme jacks,
a bike ride through the industrial park,
and finding the hay in the needlestack.
How metal is that? And look at all the things you've learned in this post.

All I Want is You Miguel ft. J. Cole All I Want is You (2010)
Do you ever miss your ex? You know, the one that got away? That hot piece of ass that you somehow lost? And you try to move on to other people but nobody seems to compare? Well I know I do. All I Want is You by Miguel is all about that, and it tells the story with heart-wrenching detail. All I want is you; now that you're gone. :( I want you back.
Man, that's hard stuff. I also like Adorn by Miguel. It's more of a falling-in-love song, but it still has that hard emotion to it. Anyway, it's hard to find the dirty version of this song. This video is from the official Miguel account, and it's the clean version; and not even in HD. I don't get it.
So, about your ex. Maybe give them a call and tell them how you feel. This is what you say:
You wanna know why these other bitches don't mean shit compared to you?
Cuz they don't smile or smell like you. No, they don't make me laugh or even cook like you. No, they don't photograph. No, they don't sex like you. Let's face it, I can't replace it. That's why all I want is you.

Unthinkable (I'm Ready) Alicia Keys ft. Drake The Element of Freedom (2009)
I was wondering lately, could I make you my baby? If we do the unthinkable, would it make us look crazy? Or would it be so beautiful? Either way, I'm saying: if you ask me, I'm ready.
That's how you write a song. Do you know how to incorporate Drake into your song? Minimally, of course. I don't want to hear any of his terrible rapping. And in Unthinkable (I'm Ready), you can't even tell he's on this song. I find it hilarious but also very refreshing. More songs today need less Drake. This song is about two people thinking about getting into a relationship when society says that they shouldn't. In the video for this song, I think Alicia and a white guy are trying to get together before the civil rights movement. When I listen to this song, I think of two people who have been through a pattern of breaking up and getting back together, and they want to try it again. Listen to this song with your 12-year old girlfriend or with the teacher you are banging.

Where We Belong (Extended Mix) Fedde Le Grand & Di-Rect (2013)
Not since Axwell's Center of the Universe (Remode) have I heard this great of a space-themed love song. Where We Belong is a nice progressive house track that came out in 2013, and I only recently have I discovered it and decided to share it with you. It's a more pop kind of progressive house than a EDM/rave kind of progressive house. Usually I disregard the pop kind; they kind of all sound the same with their synth leads. I wanna hear some booming big room house drops. Conveniently, Where We Belong has a big room remix by Holl & Rush. <- Check it out. But I posted this one because it's nice and it's different from what I usually post. Anyhoo, the lyrics are original and pleasant. l like it. What say you?
Into the great wide open pacing through the universe sail across the darkness followed by years of silence here we're out in the open shooting stars without a home off in search of wisdom high above fallen kingdoms hold me when the sun is down til the morning light awakens shadows will be fading showing us where we belong

Zombie The Cranberries No Need to Argue (1994)
Oh this song brings me back. I was just a young sprout when this came out and it has stuck in my head since then. I decided to download this song probably a month ago. Now that I listen with a more developed music palate, I still appreciate its worth. Zombie has a good combo of clean guitar and distorted guitar that only this kind of 90's grunge can give you. And it's production value is fairly good for a 90's rock track. I suppose the song (and the video) is about the effects of war on children. I am probably wrong. The band is Irish, and that explains the lead singer's tone and accent. I like it. I like her overbitten emotionless face when the first verse starts (:^B). The cherry on top is the gold painted little boys wearing next-to-nothing. What a simpler time.

Take It Off Black Eyed Peas The Beginning (Super Deluxe Edition)(2010)
Where have the Black Eyed Peas been? They are probably really corny by today's standards. will.i.am sure has lost his spark. Fergie too. But if you look in the BEP archives, you can find some treasures. Take It Off is a creative little diddy from their last album The Beginning (2010). The lyrics aren't too bad, it's catchy, and the concept is semi-original. It would be a good dance song if it was slowed down just a little. The sexual undertones are also what today's 12 year olds really like. So this one I think could pass for decent music in 2015. Nibble on this cookie: I ain't gotta problem if you gon take it off. I ain't gotta problem if you gon break me off. I ain't got a problem if you gon shake it girl. I ain't got a problem if you get naked girl. I ain't got a problem. No I don't.

Alive Korn Take a Look in the Mirror (2003)
This is probably my favorite song from my favorite Korn album. Take a Look in the Mirror (2003) is the most consistently heavy Korn album. Lead guitarist, Brian Head Welch says it's his least favorite album. I'm going to say it's because he didn't get to use as many effects and background guitar as the other albums; He performs, for the most part, exactly what rhythm guitarist, James Munky Shaffer. He probably got bored. And then he left the band. He returned last year, but they are not nearly as good or heavy. Korn's best days are clearly behind them.
Alive was the first song that lead singer Jonathan Davis recorded with Korn. It was a demo in 93 or 94 that sounded a bit more heavy metal. Almost Metallica-like. Here's a link to the demo. The chorus and middle part became the chorus and middle part to the song Need To on the first album, Korn. This 2003 version is essential Korn. It has the thick, clicky bass sound, as heard in the intro. The verse is a nu metal riff that is awesome under the vocals. Those are the best parts. The lyrics are not as emo as most Korn songs, and the vocals on the entire album are not as whiny. You must listen to the album if you haven't already. It's riff-heavy, and heavy-heavy, in a nu metal kind of way. The guitar sound is perfect (distorted and clean), the bass is thick and sexy, the drums are acoustically right. Every song is worth a listen, except for Counting on Me. The main riff is cool but the chorus is crap and I would have done the outro with the main riff. Do you guys even know what I'm talking about?

Phat Rabbit Ludacris ft. Timbaland Back for the First Time (2000)
I drop shit like birds. What is a phat rabbit? I don't know. Urban dictionary says it is a "large juicy vagina." Gross? Yummy? You decide. Ludacris has become more pop-ish in recent years, but this track has the fast rapping that 2010's hip-hop is lacking. Phat Rabbit is from Ludacris' second album, but first commercially successful album, Back for the First Time. Such an aptly named album. Some very decent songs on there. Anyway, you can tell this a Timbaland track; it has that sound. Timbaland re-utilizes that laughing baby sample at the end that he used in Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody?" You also don't hear enough laughing baby samples in today's music. Shame. Shame shame shame. This song is two of a kind. Come grab this phat rabbit (listen to it).

When I Fall in Love (Stryke's Blue Vocal Mix) A:xus When I Fall Remix Project (2000)
I originally heard a different remix to this song via the video game Midnight Club II (awesome soundtrack btw). So I was looking for that mix when I came across this mix. The "Stryke's Acid Dub Techsture" mix was an acid house version with minimal vocals. Stryke's Blue Vocal Mix is a classy, cool little house version with great vocals. The lyrics are a play on Doris Day's "When I Fall in Love" (1952). And was covered by Nat King Cole in 1957. The "original" A:xus version was released in 1998 and titled "Abacus (When I Fall in Love)". This remix was released in 2000.
"In a restless world like this is, love has ended before it's begun. So when I fall in love, it will be forever. Or I'll never, ever fall in love. When I give my heart, it will be completely. Or I'll never, ever give my heart."
Simple and powerful lyrics. And it's just repeated throughout the 8 minutes with minor changes over a loungy house beat with some nice synths and bass.

Overnight Celebrity Twista ft. Kanye West Kamikaze (2004)
Ooh baby. Very cool song. Early 2000's was a great time for hip-hop: when Eminem was more decent, when Kanye West wasn't a complete asshole, and trap style wasn't in every other song like today. Overnight Celebrity is probably a perfect hip-hop track. It's about making a girl famous by having sex with you. See baby girl, you wanna be a star? I can take you there. Let me be your manager. pffffft.

Defy You The Offspring Orange County: The Soundtrack (2001)
Yet another white male college rock track. But you know what? It's not that bad. This is one of the few (if not the only) Offspring tracks that are not cheesy or oversaturated with raunch. What do you think? I like the "all my will, all my strength" part.

Downfall Trust Company The Lonely Position of Neutral (2002)
If you've never heard this song before, I bet you'll like it. Trust Co.'s breakthrough single Downfall has a touch of that skater-type college rock that you find in late 90's-early 2000's white male college films, but it is hard and heavy enough to make it not annoying. It's not bad. Unfortunately, it's probably the only song they have worth any listening. "Running from Me" is a song I recall listening to, I'll have to check it out again. Enjoy.

Work Money Party Bitches (Deorro vs. Joel Fletcher Remix) Ryan Riback vs. Lowkiss (2012)
Is this song not awesome? Let's go party with some bitches after getting some money earned from going to work. Hey, that's not a bad message for the kids. Deorro and Joel fletcher put their "Melbourne bounce" on the lacking original version of this song. Progressive house is the business. And business is booming. What kind of business is it? Oh you know, Work Money Party Bitches Sexy Ladies Flickin Switches.
