im not deaf but I'm physically disabled in a way that stops me from doing the things i love, similar to the experience you described in your comic. i can't offer a solution to either of us unfortunately but i can tell you that you're not alone in this struggle <3

hey i saw your vent post abt being deaf and it really touched me. i am hearing and my only experience with the deaf community is being an asl baby and friends with impaired hearing, so idk if my words will bring any comfort and feel free to ignore, ik this is unsolicited :]

something ive learned is that disability does not equal capability. im not saying that your aren't disadvantaged or that "things will always work out in the end!" bc sometimes those words can feel really invalidating. im saying that you are capable to still find a way to enjoy what you do, even in an industry that didn’t make a space for you or, don't. it sucks that doors have been closed for you without your control and you have every right to feel as hurt as you do. but don't waste your energy on something that refuses to give back to you. please allow yourself time to heal and regroup and im sure that you'll find your footing.
