Hi Steph!!! I was writting fanfic and inconsistancy of Gotham maps is driving me crazy so can you suggest a map? I saw your post about how the Narrows makes no sense and I really agree so I trust your judgement.

Also where exactly is Stephanie Brown's house? I googled it and it said 115 South Holden street but it doesn't say which part of Gotham so not really helping much. Also the location of the Mercy hospital is giving me a headache.

The No Man's Land map is the best map, imo.

Using these maps, I usually HC Steph's Batgirl-era apartment to be in Midtown or Central Gotham Island. Central Gotham Island (the middle island), contains an area known as "University Town," and is where she went to school. This one would make sense, since Steph seems to have a pretty straightforward commute during her time at school. Midtown, the northern part of the South Island, is possibly backed up by the fact that the "Daily Planet's Guide to Gotham City" describes a Mercy Hospital being in Midtown (Steph's Batgirl book explicitly states she works at West Mercy, which she specifies is different than other Mercies, but I don't have a good source for West Mercy):

Steph's official location pre-Batgirl is actually not in Gotham; she's a suburbs girl, living in Manchester. I talked about Steph's probable house location here.

Detective Comics (1937-2011) #648.

Manchester is, annoyingly enough, not on any maps, and we have starkly little information about it, unlike Bristol. Manchester is, during the No Man's Land era, clearly not on the island, because Steph and her mother did not have to evacuate, and continued to live in their home for the duration of NML. However, there were some attempts to move Manchester to the Upper East Side, AKA Gotham's Little Italy in the same RPG I cited above. IMO, that does not match at ALL, but the writers of the sourcebook tried their best.

This very much contradicts what we actually see of Steph's life; where we see things like her area being under the jurisdiction of the Gotham County Sheriff's office, as opposed to the GCPD.

Generally, I view Steph as living in the suburbs, either on the Western shore of Gotham County, or near the airport. But we're fully in headcanon territory at that point!

TLDR: suburbs kid, most likely, but if you want to keep her on the islands, you have canon-adjacent evidence that she lived in a part of Gotham with "open fields" and detached housing!

I just had a BANGER IDEA

but you’re gonna have to read a little first—

in Afterlife Smp (a series where players had 10 lives, and every time they died (or retooled) they’d get a new origin) Lizzie’s sixth origin was The Enigma

now, The Enigma had a whole HOST of terrifying and really really cool powers (and a few weaknesses)

For example, upon sneaking, an Enigma is capable of seeing all players even through walls. They also have permanent night vision.

They can teleport behind a player

They can make a clone of themself, and are are invisible while the clone is alive. (If original or clone are damaged, the clone will dissapate and the Enigma will become visible again)

They can phase through blocks and become somewhat transparent

But their most insane ability, is the fact that any living thing caught in their gaze will be inflicted with Slowness and Weakness, then Blindness and Nausea, and finally, will drop dead

As for weaknesses, Enigmas are hated, meaning they can’t tame any mob and villagers won’t trade with them.

But their most notable weakness is that they cannot kill with weapons, only being able to kill with their fists or their stare

And the interesting things don’t stop at powers at weaknesses—the description for the Enigma origin is as follows: “Mystery, puzzles and trickery... Enigmas make people live in fear of themselves and question their own sanity.”

and, if you’ve been thinking like me, and noticing the words I’ve bolded…you might be considering this the final nail in the coffin…because Enigmas sound awful similar to Watchers.

And that’s where my new headcanon/theory comes in.

What if, Enigmas are failed, corrupted or exiled Watchers?

What if the Watchers tried to make Lizzie one of them…and failed

(Perhaps because she was already else…)
