Concept Development
I want to host something that can link with community and have multiple, practical purposes.
What already exists in the area?
Tumblr media
A working port, river, history, art, food and culture.
Pro's-
open space and water views
Good for Covid distancing
strategically set up spaces to retreat to and socialise
Appreciate art and environment
income for stakeholders-commerce around seafood
build on new gardens to be installed
utilise carparks
stalls and fish tanks, can we hire fish tanks?
Con's what are the gaps?
Rather industrial looking, thoroughfare spaces seem separated. No common areas for gathering and not much shade.
How can we incorporate digital story telling? A projector of history content?
Waterfront park area to be built in Sept 21
What are the distinct differences of North Shore? River Life
Working Port, Aboriginal history, arrival by City Cat, driving, lots of free parking.
goal- create a space for for NorthShore's economic/social/cultural fabric and give people a reason to connect with and return to the area.

🤯 50 Word Pitch
Brisbane, showcase our local talents with seafood weekend markets.
A thread that joins all facets of North shore River, Aboriginal history, Maritime port and Food is …fish.
Add to the landscape with outdoor fish tanks and digital aquarium projector on industrial areas, a fish themed movable shade cover in the carpark and toward Eat St.

System thinking...
Bring visitors to North Shore
Engage people in a community space. Generate interest and income to the area. Repeat visitors.
My idea is... Weekend seafood markets and an art makeover of certain spots. Such as, stencils on the concrete pathways leading to Eat St. Fish kites, fish tanks, Aboriginal art paintings, paper lamps, maritime history and a portable shade cover for the carpark.
The budget allows $20k for the carpark structure. $15k for Art, $30k for fish tanks and $5k digital aquarium projector.
North Shore has a unique history using place making Theory underwrites a local community's assets and potential, with the intention of creating public spaces to enjoy. I hope to collaborate with as many stakeholders as possible for weekend markets. All stakeholders work together and leverage the DNA of the place.
Research -
W2 readings 10 principals of waterfront development.
N/Shore History pg.2-6
What do you think you need to consider when developing a project that engages Aboriginal people and art/history/culture?
Land Links and Community Links
If successful, this project would be able to be repeated and help boost the neighbourhood. Typically, Brisbane is not known for its seafood. I say, it's about time we changed that!
Looking for collaborators.

Thinking about @NorthShore, after a place evaluation and comparison to similar waterfront areas. A theme that I have noticed and the start of my concept is..fish! 🐠 🐟🐡
Just imagine ..Aboriginal artwork, fresh fish mongers and sea food dishes, maritime history, bright fish decorations, movable public displays of fish tanks. A Festival for seafood at North Shore.
