Teia hissed through her teeth, the bridge of her nose wrinkling between her screwed-shut eyes. There was a ghost of a laugh, evidenced in the soft exhalation before the equally soft and chiding tut-tut at her reaction. She opened her eyes to glare at the issuer, but the gaze held no heat.

"I know it stings, but it's nothing compared to having infection set in, I assure you," Viago stated levelly, but Teia saw the smirk that twitched at his lip. She was about to comment on said smirk, but let out another sharp hiss instead. The thin line scratched into her cheek did sting, each and every time he brought the antiseptic-soaked cotton across it. She wasn't trying to argue that it wasn't necessary, but she was allowed to voice her displeasure nonetheless.

"Perhaps if you were to kiss it better it might take the sting away," Teia offered sweetly.

Viago only gave her a fondly exasperated look in reply. He dabbed at the cut a few more times before he deemed it satisfactory, then got to his feet and offered Teia a hand up.

"Perhaps a bit later. When we're not kneeling among the bloodstains in the street? Besides. You still need to have that broken rib and laceration attended to by an actual healer."

Teia allowed him to haul her to her feet without so much as a grimace, despite the earlier show of displeasure to his ministrations. She may have allowed him to shoulder most of her weight with a steady arm around her waist, but neither of them commented on it.

Hours later, when wounds had been tended and orders issued, the Talons were finally allowed their rest. As Teia drifted to sleep with Viago's steady arm once more around her waist, her torso bound in white bandages, she felt a kiss brush over her wounded cheek.
