a conversation i saw on twitter about statues worth keeping reminded me of what is easily one of my favorites.
this is outside of the university of maryland’s student union building, a bench with a statue of one of UMd’s most universally beloved alumni, jim henson, conversing with kermit. people (usually incoming freshmen) will sit down next to them and have their picture taken. it’s one of the most pure and beautiful things on this earth.

Lmao you’re an adult, you shouldn’t be using the word squick. Use trigger. Use your grown up adult words to explain how you feel instead of leaning on a cutesy uwu term that no one outside of tumblr uses. It’s embarrassing.
Idek if this is serious or ironic honestly

I feel like a lot of the current "why do you only care about shipping" backlash to fandom is people who really just...don't want to be in creative fandom? Like for the longest time it was well known that there was a cultural divide between the more analytical meta & theory part of fandom and the more creative part of fandom. And even if you were in both, you were in both in seperate spaces.
What I feel like is happening now is people feeling obligated to participate in the creative side of fandom who just don't like it. But they don't know a different way of participating, so they just lash out at other fans for having fun instead of trying to build their own space.
Like if they only fic you're interested in is something that is a 1:1 mirror of canon and could just be a new episode, no changes made? And even that's on thin ice? It might be time to accept you don't like the creative side of fandom, you just want to discuss canon itself.
Which is fine...up until you start lashing out at people who do enjoy transformative works.

the greatest plot point in Teen Wolf is still, without question, the fact that sometimes turning into a werewolf goes wrong and you turn into a lizard instead

the “oh. oh.” moment in fan fic but instead of a character realizing they’re in love it’s them discovering they have a specific kink at the worst possible moment

I'm sorry people are being weird about the checkmarks! I think it's all good fun and honestly def rather help fund tumblr with dumb fun than what most social media resorts to
Same. I'd rather Tumblr be user funded than be selling my data.
Hell, I used to give LiveJournal money back in the day, and frequently gift paid accounts to friends. That was before the Russian company bought it, mind you. Though I think I may be showing my age with that one.
