i know you are afraid of contacting me because you know what you did was wrong and almost got me killed
you feel guilty about it and want to forget i ever existed
however, i know too that you need me, and vice versa
when you are ready, come back and talk to me. we will take things slow, and i will get experts to help us out
i am waiting in agony, but somehow i am sure this will reach you
it would be nice if both of us could stop living in fear

Hello my dears... im sorry for the lack of bug photos recently... im currently in a horrible state of well-being and im being warded. but ill post again once im out of here.
in the meantime. heres a photo of two snails. ever since I was a kid i loved snails

photo is NOT OC!
I want to tell you a story. A long time ago i was beachcombing and found this beautiful shell. hearts on the surface.
I wanted to bring it home but there was a hermit crab inside. in an attempt to coax it out, i pressed a flashlight against the shell, hoping the heat would persuade it to leave as i provided it a much sturdier shell.
it didnt leave. i kept shining my flashlight. it refused to leave. i wanted the shell badly. i kept shining the light.
a burnt smell came from the shell. i was hit with a mix of guilt. despair. but also anger. i didnt understand why the hermit refused to come out. i felt horrible.
I wanted to see you out of your shell. if i'd hurt you. im sorry. please come back. so much damage has been done to my life just from your absence
please

hello my dears... have you ever seen these little fishes at the beach?

gobies are an abundant resident on many beaches with sandy shores but most people dont know they live there. theyre SUPER good with camouflage and dart across the water once they feel any movement or sense any shadows. and because theyre so well disguised its easy to miss them even as they dart through shallow water since they just look like a ripple

they search for nearby rocks to hide under or quickly burrow under sand with their pectoral fins. up close... you can see these elaborate and shiny patterns on the vanishing silhouette goby (Silhouettea evanida) a very apt name considering how difficult it was for me to find them. one moment theyre here next minute theyre gone

hello my dears... squishy seahare today

look carefully at the shore... among the seagrass and seaweed and you may see a curious squishy lump slowly crawling across... with its large hairy tentacles giving it its name of the ragged seahare (Bursatella leachii). when out of water the hairy tentacles retract and reveal these bright blue spots dotted all across the curious critter

although not the most apparent in these still photos. they bear four front tentacles that resemble arms and bunny ears... hence a 'sea hare'

when threatened it releases a bright reddish purple dye that quickly stains the seawater. im not keen on hurting it just to show off the dye but you can google pics and see for yourself that its an impressively vibrant dye produced from their diet of cyanobacteria

hello my dears... a story of two tyloridas today

so theres this pretty common long jawed orbweaver where i live and its known as the big-bellied tylorida (Tylorida ventralis). its a moderately sized spider with a large abdomen with speckled patterning
ive seen it many many times

but recently i found its rarer cousin... the striped tylorida (Tylorida striata) as you can see the speckled patterning is arranged in a way that leaves empty stripes across the abdomen. this one was hidden inside a dried leaf and you can see its canopy of webs across the interior. kinda feels like finding a shiny version of the usual tyloridas

hello my dears... a long time ago an anon (hiiii!) said they liked cicadas and asked for cicada pics

back then i didnt have any impressive cicadas to show off but now ive two sets of observations im proud to show off... this black and scarlet cicada (Huechys sanguinea) came into my room and had trouble walking on the smooth bedroom floor. so vibrant. i love it

i released it after these shots were successfully taken

next i have this common cicada (Purana usnani) with its swamp green colouration and clear wings. although difficult to spot its widely known for the signature mating call that many people mistakenly attribute to crickets

i hope cicada anon will see this update because i felt i let them down with my original post... so im happy to present these two new sightings

hello my dears... back to back spiders with a bright yellow spiny spider

sorry but i like spiders... the hasselt's spiny spider (Macracantha hasselti) has a female with a very large triangular abdomen. with six menacing looking spikes poking out from the edges

the spider is covered in white hairs and despite its irregular shape its still an efficient web builder

ive seen 4 different species of spiny spiders around my home but this one is by far the most common

hello my dears... rare jumping spider with a bushy white moustache

jumping spiders are among my favourite bugs to find and ive seen so many different kinds... its always exciting when i finally spot a new species
this white moustached portia (Portia labiata) snuck up on me outta nowhere and i instantly recognised it from its signature bushy facial hair. like most other jumpers ive met it had a very curious and lively personality… it quickly became one of my favourite finds

hello my dears... huntsman spider gets taken away by ants

im assuming the spider was already dead when the ants found it... huntsman spiders are agile and effective hunters and i find it hard to imagine that the cocoa black ants (Dolichoderus thoracicus) actively hunted it down

the spider in the photo is known as the yoga huntsman spider (Genus Olios) and ive seen a live one too. the dead individual was a lot smaller and lacked golden colouration so it was likely a juvenile

hello my dears... everybody eat the poo peacefully ✌️☮️❤️☮️

i was taking a hike in the forest when i noticed a couple of butterflies gathering at something on the ground… it was a small lump of poo that they were feeding off

these cute little butterflies are known as elbowed pierrots (Caleta elna) and this was my first time spotting them

beside them there was this fancy little fly with curiously long legs... this was a stilt-legged fly. likely (Mimegralla albimana) who had joined the club and was having fun feeding on the poo too

all were at peace and seemed unbothered as i got even closer to get clear pics of them

hello my dears... striped hammerhead worm today

this is one of those odd-looking creatures that are always exciting to find in the soil after rain. theyre slow moving and appear docile but are pretty efficient predators that can hunt living mollusks and earthworms.
when attacking their prey they use their sticky slime along with their muscular body to hold their prey captive before releasing digestive enzymes which break down the soft body of their prey... which they then absorb through the skin of their bodies. pretty metal for such a small and colourful little worm

slime trail (Diversibipalium rauchi)

hello my dears... nolid moth caterpillar with an interesting form of mimicry

this bizzare looking caterpillar is possibly a (Carea angulata)... a species from the family of tufted moths. the caterpillars have a swollen green thorax that is believed to mimic not another species but an unripe fruit. this growth looks like an oversized safety helmet and possibly deters birds from consuming it

it appears this individual may sadly have been parisitised by a wasp. those two white spots on its back maybe wasp eggs... im really not sure

hello my dears... colourful jumping spider today

ive shot this specific species of jumper many times before as its a commonly seen species... frequently spotted among urban gardens and along the railings of parks and disturbed forests. this vibrant little guy is a sea-green northern jumper (Cosmophasis thalassina)... and although ive seen it many times i still enjoy taking pics of it as a way to track my gradual improvement in the quality of my photos

this species is sexually dimorphic and the one shown here is an adult female

hello my dears... woolly moth caterpillar today

saw this curious little caterpillar with a fluffy appearance and gently flipped it over with a stick to see its ventral side. a very fluffy caterpillar with a determined personality. it quickly uprighted itself and carried on with its journey. possibly Miltochrista arcuata

such pretty little tufts of fur~

hello my dears... cool looking worker ant today

ive started photographing more ants recently because i realised that. although we dont really pay attention to them cuz theyre everywhere and more of an annoyance to most people... they do come in some really interesting colours!
this female had pale hairs and faint gold stripes on her abdomen. she comes from the subgenus (Tanaemyrmex)
i do have a few more photos of funky looking ants so do let me know if youre interested in seeing them. i have one that looks like it has gordon ramsay's forehead wrinkles. i like that one. im not sure how much bugblr cares for ants though

hello my dears... cat-eared treehopper today

featuring a planthopper from the genus (Tricentrus) these guys usually have three horns on their heads... although this individual only appears to have two. i believe this one is non morphospecific and cannot be ided to species

frequently seen on the leaves and stems of wild bushes and can be gently picked up if youre stealthy enough
the horns always looked like cat ears to me. which makes me find them extra cute
