Today’s tale is extra magical, because it’s my birthday! So, I’m celebrating with a true classic and my favorite fairy tale of all time: Cinderella.  

An ancient folk tale originally made popular by the Brothers Grimm in the early 19th century, we’re flipping through the shimmering pages of Walt Disney’s Cinderella, adapted by Campbell Grant (1909-1992), a Disney artist and story writer known for his work on Fantasia and other animated classics, and illustrated by the Walt Disney Studio artists in 1950. Published in New York by Simon and Schuster, and printed by Racine, Wisconsin-based Western Printing and Lithographing Company, this Little Golden Book retelling of the beloved Disney film captures all the sparkle and heart of Cinderella’s story, from talking mice and pumpkin carriages to glass slippers and dreams coming true. 

Cinderella has had my heart since I was young. There’s something timeless in the sweep of her gown, the hush of midnight, and the quiet courage of a kind heart. A girl who speaks to mice, dreams under the moonlight, and finds her way not by chasing a prince, but by staying true to herself.
