“ye think yer funny don’ ye?” he chuckled. “my mind is as strong as its ever been. i’m like a fine wine, i only get better with age.” he replied with a charming grin. he like out a yelp of pain at the second punch. “ouch! ye didn’ have to hit me. i didn’ know ye’d be interested, ye’ll have to forgive me. oh no, if i’m dead to ye i guess ye’ll just have to find someone else to pay for yer pancake burgers then, eh?” he replied with a raised eyebrow. “but she hasn’ has she? why don’ ye go hit her!?”

Boy, you have some crazy tastes.” She shook her head and chuckled a little, thanking her lucky stars she never really fell for the accented playboy. That would have been a world of constant heartbreak. “Please do. I need people to think I’m cold and heartless, you know? Uh–no. I mean, yes. Well, kinda….” She wasn’t sure how exactly to explain what had gone down with Kitty and Illyana, so she left it at that. “They’ve just been fighting. No. I definitely didn’t–I mean, I sorta picked Kitty’s side, and then may have stolen her away to celebrate christmas-slash-hanukah with me, but it was totally not a big deal.” She scoffed and eyes him up. “I’m a big girl now, I can handle a little illegal monologueing, promise. But if you really can’t tell…Well, you usually dont’ know about curses until the magic kicks in, so you might not even know you’ve got one. That’s what I learned from Buffy. Hmm, you might not want to come back to the institute, then. She’s not one to easily forgive.”

“if ye wanted her for yerself i coulda totally been yer wingman then, gave ye all the pointers and helped ye out but not now! if ye wanted me for yerself all ye had to do was ask.” he replied with a playful wink, giving her a teasing nudge. “ye better hold on a lil’ tighter then ‘cause i’m slippin’ right through yer fingers. correction, we’ve already done it, i jus’ wanna do it again.” he said with a chuckle. “plus i might just’ like her a lil’. as long as they don’t have a big brawl over dinner or nothin’ then i think it’ll be okay. so how was christmas-slash-hanukkah then? did ye get any present for me that ye’ve been holdin’ onto till i came back?” he asked with a sly smile. “don’ scare me like that, i totally didn’ get cursed. i mean who would wanna curse me? i’m a nice guy. i know she ain’t that’s why i need ye to take the blame, aight? ‘cause she’s way more likely to forgive ye than me.”

        it’s not like she’s a STRANGER to this, but it certainly feels quite nice to be around remy when he’s like this. it kept her on her toes. “ weeeeell, it’s not like there’s no room to change my thoughts around, hmm ?? all the quizzes, we’ll make an event out of it, ” lorna mumbles teasingly against his lips. “ maybe they’ll just have to make a collection of mansions, a neighborhood of lil’ x-men’s in training, ” she says, her hands steadying herself with the closeness by landing them on his shoulders. “ mhmm, that works for me if it works for you. ”

“exactly ye coulda totally been in a slytherin mind-set when ye took it the first time. i mean i hear ye go through a change every couple years anyway so yer definitely probably a hufflepuff now. sounds perfect, we’ll have all the students around and everythin’ it’ll be a good time. i like that idea, i think i’d wanna share my mansion though, with ye i mean. i think it’d get borin’ to be in there all alone.” remy nodded enthusiastically. “it definitely works for me.”

  “ GETTING? ” she repeats. “ i could’ve kicked your ass when i met you, cajun cowboy. i didn’t want to down your ego. ” a glint of wonder sparks in her characteristically deadpan dark hues. “ burgers saved my life. and have you had pancakes? ” she walks along side him, hunger growing the more she thinks. “ PIZZA, remy. living with the other x-men has been an eye opener in food. ”

“don’t kid yerself kid.” he replied with a chuckle. “i’m a total warrior, ye might jus’ get lucky now. plus i’m gettin’ old so its hardly fair.” remy nodded his head with a chuckle at her words. “i’ve definitely had pancakes. have ye had pancake burgers yet though? now that’s livin’. i’m sure it has especially if ye’ve been hangin ‘round kitty, i don’ know how that girl puts all that food down. i swear i went into ‘er room once and she had more junk food than the actual kitchen did.”

       her cheeks suck in as she makes a tiny SCENE of fighting the grin that wants to widen on her face. but her eyelashes flutter to a light close before she lets the grin go, green eyes matching to look at brown hues. “ you’re ‘aight too, i guess, ” she says, eyes flashing to different spots on his face. “ so we’ll have to create new accounts, retake the test – oh !! and the patronus quiz, we should take them all. ” lorna actually hesitates to speak at the comment, instead tucking a strand of hair behind her ear before pursing her lips and nodding in agreement. “ then i think they should be investing in a bigger mansion. ” she pushes herself off the wall, tugging his shirt to bring him to her level, placing a kiss on his lips. “ — thank you. and well, i did just offer, ” she says against his lip.

remy’s smile grew at the sight of hers. remy had met plenty of girls in his life but none of them were quite as beautiful as lorna was when she smiled. “just ‘aight? that hurts ye know. here i was thinkin’ ye thought more highly of me. i definitely need to retake the test, i don’ think the last time was fair. we’ll take ‘em all!” he replied with a chuckle. “how much bigger do ye think it needs to be? i’d say at least triple if emma frost is comin’ back too.” he pressed his lips back against hers, pulling her closer to him. “how ‘bout we jus’ forget about the cats? jus’ spend some time together?”

He was one of the X-men? “Jesus, can’t step outside your door without running into a superhero these days. I didn’t think they let cats into the mansion,” she said finally, shoving her hands into her pockets. 

She led the way, walking briskly, her boots slamming down against the pavement. “It’s also freezing, full of homeless people, and aliens landed in Rockefeller Plaza last week,” she said, glancing at him. “The whole city is falling apart, Hell’s Kitchen is just a special brand of shit.” 

“nah, it sounds kinda silly but its the furthest thing from it. i still go people tryin’ to find me. they don’ take too kindly to leavin’ the guild.” remy scanned her face with a chuckle. “trust me i know its not exactly hard to believe, i don’ look like yer normal x-man but i am, well kinda. the word hero is debatable too jus’ as the press. us x-men are a menace that must be stopped. they do, i jus’ gotta clean up after ‘em or hire kitty to at least. she’ll do jus’ ‘bout anythin’ as long as you ask nice enough.”

“I saw the aliens. Almost made me head back home but Scott say’s I have this lil’ thing called civil responsibility so I can’t. I wish there was somethin’ I could ‘bout the homeless though, I don’ think the city helps nearly as much as they could ‘round here.” he said with a small sigh. “it was the same way back home, nothin’ ever seemed to get better. not they got what ye call gentrification goin’ on down there and forcin’ everyone outta their homes so even the shitty area’s poor people can’ live in.”

     “ well, … NOT sure that’s exactly what i wanted to hear, but i can’t say i HATE hearing such a statement, lebeau. hmmmm, sounds a bit too detailed to be something that you’re totally not saying, ” lorna says, a mock pout on her lips as crinkled her nose up at him. “ — guess i just need to hop on pottermore sooner rather than later, have you taken that test yet ?? oh, i don’t think so, i don’t think i woulda passed out. i had a very good handle on this head of mine, ” she says, tapping at her temple. “ and if my ego kept growing, your ego would be kicked out !! and where would x-mansion be without remy lebeau’s ego, hmm ?? ah, it’s alright. the hair dye usually fades after a week, it’s not worth it anymore, honestly. ” an eyebrow arches, head tilting to the side in consideration. “ — and my apartment’s only a few blocks away, why deny them time with each other ?? ”

“what exactly do ye wanna hear? that i like ye---’cause that may or may not be accurate. yer right i did mean it but jus’ barely.” he replied, still smiling down at her. “we’ll jus’ do it when we get to yer house. i already took the test----i got slytherin but that don’ count. i was half asleep when i took it last. i almost passed out. i mean i knew ye were beautiful but ye were like breathtakin’ then and i don’ just say that anyone. ey, that’s not fair, my ego ain’t that big. probably ‘bout the same size as yers.well like i said, i like ye just’ how ye are. not that that really mean’s anythin’ to ye. i say we heard to yer apartment then, i mean if yer fine with that.”
